Morning time came and the rain was still drizzling. The livestream camera switched to Su Xiaoxiao. At this moment, Chen Shu was sending her off. “Sis, remember what I said, don’t panic when things happen. Just answer whatever they ask you.”

Su Xiaoxiao nodded solemnly.

“Cheer up, it’ll be fine. Oh, by the way, do you remember the grilled lamb we had in Jinfu Village? I’m planning to go back today to buy another one for you. It’ll be waiting for you tonight.”

“Okay.” Su Xiaoxiao responded as she left.

Then, Chen Shu got into the bus and headed straight for Jinfu Village. It was the same bus and the ticket seller was the same talkative old lady. “Hey, young man, it’s you again?”

“Auntie, you remember me?” Chen Shu smiled, taking a seat next to her.

“Of course! On April 2nd, you and your sister went to Jinfu Village to see the rapeseed flowers. I even thought you two were a couple back then.”

Chen Shu nodded. “That’s right. You have a great memory, Auntie.”

“Why are you heading back to the countryside again? Those flowers only need to be seen once. There’s nothing new to look at.” The bus started moving, and the old lady began chatting again.

“We had a roasted lamb at an inn before, and my sister loved it. Since it was farm-raised and fresh, I thought I’d go back and buy another one for her.”

“Wow, you’re such a caring brother. By the way, do you have a girlfriend? Want to consider my daughter? She’s about your age…”

Chen Shu shook his head. “Auntie, you’re getting off track.”

After getting off the bus, Chen Shu walked into Jinfu Village, now that the weekend was over, the village was much quieter.

After all, it was just a seasonal attraction, and most visitors came for the lively atmosphere. With the continuous rain making the village roads difficult to walk, there were even fewer tourists.

When he arrived at the inn, the couple who ran it were busy working. Seeing Chen Shu, they looked surprised.

“Young man, you’re back. Did you leave something behind?” the owner asked.

“No, no,” Chen Shu shook his head and stepped forward. “On the night of April 2nd, my sister ate your roasted lamb and couldn’t stop craving it afterward. I thought I’d come back and buy another one for her.”

“You sure spoil your sister,” the lady boss said with a smile.

“Wait here, I’ll go get a lamb for you,” the owner said, putting down his work and heading toward the sheep pen.

Soon, he brought out a lamb. Chen Shu rolled up his sleeves. “Boss, let me help you. I butchered one last time on April 2nd, so I have experience. If we do it together, it’ll be faster.”

“Alright then.”

Afterwards, Chen Shu met the old village chief in the ancestral hall.

“Hello, Chief,” Chen Shu greeted as he walked in.

The old village chief, whose eyesight wasn’t great, squinted for a while before recognizing him. “Oh, young man, it’s you! Back in the village again?”

“Yes, Chief. On the night of April 2nd, I attended your village’s ancestor worship ceremony and heard you talk about many customs,” Chen Shu said, taking out a pen and paper. “Last time, we didn’t have enough time. This time, I’d like to hear more details while I take notes.”

“Oh, sure!” The old chief smiled, revealing half a tooth. At his age, what he feared most was being forgotten. Having a young man interested in chatting with him made him happy.

Knock, knock.

Meanwhile, at Haicheng No.1 High School, Class 4, Grade 12.

In the show, Su Xiaoxiao is a student, so at this moment, she was sitting in the classroom. Then, there was a knock on the door.

The hidden camera on her chest was pointed directly at the entrance. The livestream screen showed six or seven police officers standing in the hallway, dressed in uniforms.

The one leading them was Wang Zheng.

This intense scene sent a chill through the livestream audience.

“Damn, this is scary. Just looking at Captain Wang’s righteous expression, Su Xiaoxiao is probably going to spill everything out of fear.”

“Good, let’s end this quickly. I can’t take this anymore.”

“Yeah, while Chen Shu is off buying lamb in the countryside, he might as well save some for ‘prison.’”

“Is Su Xiaoxiao in this class? Please step out,” Wang Zheng’s calm and steady voice sounded.

The students in the class, who were all extras arranged by the production team, felt their palms sweat at the sound.

Su Xiaoxiao stood up and walked out, closing the classroom door behind her. She was taken to the stairwell by Wang Zheng.

“I’m Captain Wang Zheng from the City Criminal Investigation Department.”

Wang Zheng displayed his badge. “You don’t need to be afraid. I just have a few questions for you. Just answer truthfully. Of course, I hope you tell the truth. If you lie, you should know the consequences.”

Su Xiaoxiao nodded. “O-okay…”

Wang Zheng remained expressionless, like an unfeeling judge. He pulled out a photo from his briefcase and asked, “Su Xiaoxiao, have you seen this person before?”

“This is…” Su Xiaoxiao examined it carefully, then shook her head. “I haven’t seen him before.”

“Don’t rush to answer. Take three minutes to look carefully.” Wang Zheng held the photo upright and placed it right in front of Su Xiaoxiao.

This was an interrogation tactic, three minutes might seem short, but for a guilty person, it was unbearably long. During this time, they would often crack under the police’s gaze and their own inner torment.

And expose a flaw!

“Holy crap, I feel like I can’t breathe just watching this. Good thing I’ve never committed a crime. If I were in her shoes, my legs would have given out already.”

“Captain Wang really is a veteran detective who’s been on the front lines for decades. He’s got complete psychological control over her.”

“Xiaoxiao, just confess. Watching this is making me anxious for you.”

Standing in the stairwell, the sound of students reciting lessons echoed nearby. But for Su Xiaoxiao, the world had fallen silent. The air felt heavy.

That suffocating pressure made her back break out in a cold sweat. Most of all, Wang Zheng’s eyes never left her. Sharp and predatory, like a lion ready to pounce.

She had never felt three minutes drag on for so long, for a moment, she almost wanted to confess everything. But then, Chen Shu’s words echoed in her mind, “Sis, no matter how much the police press you, just stick to your answer.”

“We don’t know Liu Liang!”

“Who is he?”

“We have nothing to do with him at all.”

Those words, planted in her heart like seeds, suddenly took root. A strange sense of reassurance washed over her.

Three minutes ended, Wang Zheng pressed again, “Su Xiaoxiao, have you seen this person before?”
