Chapter 68: Recovery

***

Qin Liu heard this title and felt confused.

A ghost messenger from the underworld?

Isn’t that still a ghost?

To clarify, Qin Liu asked.

“Isn’t a ghost messenger still a ghost?”

“Ghost messengers are ghosts.”

Liu Haoyu burned away the shattered flesh and bones on the ground with a fire.

“But ghost messengers generally can’t come to the human world.”

Why would the Planchette Spirit summoned by Zhu Xingxue’s son be this evil ghost from hell?

Fortunately, it has been dealt with now.

Although there were still many questions, such as…

What was going on with Li Suqin repeatedly asking Qin Liu to open the door just now?

Could it be that Qin Liu could control that red iron door?

However, looking at her reaction, it seemed she herself was unaware of this matter?

Or perhaps, she simply couldn’t do it?

Many questions troubled Liu Haoyu’s mind.

Although he proposed many hypotheses, there wasn’t enough evidence to prove any of them.

Seeing that he really couldn’t figure it out, Liu Haoyu could only temporarily suppress these questions in his heart. He turned to look at Li Suqin who was still lying unconscious on the ground.

“She should still be alive.”

“That’s good…”

Qin Liu breathed a sigh of relief, partly because no one had died, and partly because at least she hadn’t been staying with a dead person for so long, and had even helped her dress.

If she had really helped dress a dead person, just thinking about that feeling was unsettling.

Liu Haoyu crouched down, about to carry Li Suqin back to bed, and at this moment.

The female police officer opened her eyes.

While looking around in confusion and bewilderment, she unconsciously said.

“Officer Li, are we home?”

As she mumbled, she rubbed her eyes, then saw Liu Haoyu wearing a gas mask, dressed in a suit, carrying a fire axe on his back.

There was still some sticky unknown liquid on that axe…

This was completely like a murderer!!

Li Suqin’s eyes widened, and she struggled vigorously, she wanted to call for help, but Liu Haoyu’s hand covered her mouth.

Perhaps getting into character, or perhaps to make Li Suqin settle down.

This “murderous maniac” spoke in an ice-cold voice.

“Quiet.”

Li Suqin looked at the fire axe in Liu Haoyu’s hand and immediately didn’t dare to make any more sound.

From his voice, she knew this man wearing a gas mask was male.

And being alone at home as a woman, it was hard not to think in certain frightening directions.

Her body began to tremble, her hands unconsciously covering her chest.

“I have no interest in you.”

Liu Haoyu’s emotionless voice rang out, startling Li Suqin.

“Think back, did you encounter a ghost?”

Faced with Liu Haoyu’s questioning, Li Suqin began searching through her somewhat confused memories.

Soon, she suddenly realized.

But because her mouth was covered, she could only nod repeatedly.

“That’s right,” Liu Haoyu pointed at the talismans and formation in the room and said: “I’m here to kill ghosts.”

“…Gulp.”

Li Suqin swallowed, and with a cautious and negotiating expression, pointed at Liu Haoyu’s hand covering her mouth.

The latter understood and removed his hand.

After gaining the right to speak, Li Suqin took big breaths of air.

As a police officer, she was very intelligent.

Even though she was previously an atheist, after seeing the dangerous scene at the haunted house, Li Suqin had naturally become much more docile now.

And since there were ghosts, there would naturally be people who deal with ghosts.

Although the man before her looked like a strange character, the surrounding environment might indirectly prove he was someone who catches ghosts.

“You really catch ghosts? Then… where’s the ghost?”

Li Suqin’s memory was still stuck at the haunted house, so she didn’t realize she was back home now.

She just felt the room looked familiar.

“There.”

Liu Haoyu instinctively pointed behind himself and said.

“Right behind me, can you see it?”

Hearing this, Li Suqin instinctively backed away, but when she looked behind Liu Haoyu, she found there was nothing there at all.

“No… I don’t see it.”

“If you can’t see it, then you’re safe.”

Liu Haoyu said as he patted Li Suqin’s shoulder.

After speaking, Liu Haoyu stood up and walked out of the bedroom coolly.

However, because Liu Haoyu had just said there was a ghost behind him, Li Suqin’s gaze remained fixed on that wall.

After a long while…

Nothing happened.

It seemed it was truly safe now.

Just as she breathed a sigh of relief and was about to contact her colleagues at the police station.

A gentle girl’s voice came from behind her.

“Don’t go to those places at night next time.”

Hearing this voice, Li Suqin’s pupils contracted, and she quickly turned her head, but found no one behind her.

The candles in the room all went out at this moment.

————————

After leaving Li Suqin’s home, Liu Haoyu put his mask and axe back in his backpack.

And Qin Liu, who had finished giving instructions, also caught up.

“This matter should be temporarily concluded now, right? We shouldn’t need to go to any more ghostly places, right?”

Qin Liu wasn’t very brave to begin with, and these past few days had left her mentally exhausted.

“There’s nothing going on for now.”

The Liu Xiaoxiao at the reservoir and the fierce ghost who killed Zhu Xingxue’s family had all been dealt with.

That red iron door definitely had some connection to Qin Liu, just that she herself wasn’t aware of it.

And with the death of that evil ghost from hell, Li Suqin had returned to normal, it seemed Li Rongjun’s condition should also improve.

And indeed it was so, when Liu Haoyu arrived at the hospital afterward, he encountered Li Rongjun.

This middle-aged police officer wearing hospital clothes looked like his complexion had recovered somewhat, and no longer had that manic appearance.

Li Rongjun also saw Liu Haoyu nearby, so he walked over.

“Young man, meeting you again, what a coincidence.”

“Officer Li, looking at your appearance, seems like you haven’t rested well?”

Liu Haoyu pretended to know nothing as he looked at him.

To this, Li Rongjun sighed and said.

“I encountered a ghost recently.”

“Officer Li, you really know how to joke, how could there possibly be ghosts in this world?”

Seeing Liu Haoyu didn’t believe him, Li Rongjun didn’t explain much more.

His tired face forced out a smile, he took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket and offered one to Liu Haoyu.

“But I should give you some advice, young man, you look even more haggard than me, it’s better to fish less at night, to avoid encountering ghosts.”

“Getting skunked every day, I stopped fishing long ago.”

Seeing Li Rongjun still had the spirit to joke around, Liu Haoyu understood that this police officer had indeed recovered.

But why was Old Wang still in a crazy state?

And… had his own condition improved?

While Liu Haoyu was thinking, Li Rongjun received a phone call, spoke for a few sentences, then turned his head and said.

“Young man, my colleague needs me to help move house, we’ll meet again if fate allows.”
