Even if Liang Ziyu overhears them gossiping, that still isn’t an excuse for Wang Wei to abandon Zhan Lian and the others to save himself. If he runs off with the rest now, he’ll become the kind of coward who lets others guard the rear while he flees. Wang Wei refuses to be that person.

But just as he reaches the entrance, that strange zombie—the one with skin like soaked chicken feet—suddenly appears in the mall.

Up on the second floor, An Ran startles. She quickly ducks down and pulls Zhao Ru down with her. The two exchange a shocked glance from behind the guardrail.

How did this thing make it past all the defenses?

The Strength-Type Ability Users on the first floor notice it too. Some bolt up the stairs, others charge directly at the creature.

It’s just one zombie. Could it really be that hard to kill?

One person rushes forward and punches the soaked zombie in the head. With a splash—water sprays everywhere.

Water?

An Ran peeks out from behind the guardrail to get a better look. She sees the zombie’s head, which splattered apart just moments ago, quickly reform like nothing happened. Worse, the Strength-Type Ability User’s fist is now stuck inside the zombie’s skull.

“Ahhhh! Ahhhhhh!”

The man screams in terror. Someone grabs him by the waist and drags him back—but when they pull him away, his hand is gone. Only bare bones and finger joints remain.

Panic breaks out. Others rush forward, trying to tear the zombie apart. Another splash—and the zombie is ripped in half, dissolving into two pools of water. But the hands that tore it are now reduced to skeletal remains too.

“Don’t touch it!” Zhao Ru hisses from behind the railing, summing up the situation quickly. She turns to An Ran and mutters with a frown, “Call your man back. He’s a metal-type ability user. That thing is obviously a water-type zombie!”

“Shh. Don’t make a sound,” An Ran whispers back.

From experience, she knows that all copper-skinned zombies have enhanced hearing. This water-type one has to have it too.
