- Chapter 421 - If You Want to Leave, Do It Quickly
“Yeah, yeah! There’s a perfectly good road, but you just have to go the wrong way. This team is ruined by a woman!”
“Captain Wang, take us to Xiangcheng. We may not be elemental ability users, but we’ve survived this apocalypse for a long time. Fighting zombies isn’t a problem for us.”
“We don’t want to stay here with Zhan Lian anymore.”
The three men sitting in front of Wang Wei nod wildly.
Their dissatisfaction with An Ran actually comes earlier than Xu Lier’s. Clearly, they’re already in a safe and quiet spot along the national highway. Yet An Ran says one sentence and has everyone pack up and leave without even staying a night.
Does she not realize how tired everyone is? After several days of nonstop zombie fighting, no one’s even had a chance to rest. Honestly, if it weren’t for Zhao Ru—the water-ability user on the team—the three Strength-Type Ability Users under Liang Ziyu would’ve insisted on staying.
Now, of course, they want to switch teams. With Xu Lier here, they no longer need to be tied to Liang Ziyu’s group, nor do they need to waste time here with Zhan Lian.
Xu Lier looks quite pleased with herself and also urges Wang Wei, “Ah Wei, let’s go. Take our people and get out of here. These rats are disgusting.”
Wang Wei frowns as he looks at the people in front of him. Everyone looks like they can’t wait to sprout wings and fly away. He wants to say that the reason Zhan Lian and the others haven’t left is because Xiangcheng is too quiet—so quiet it feels eerie. He also has a sense that something isn’t right. Still—
“If you want to leave, then get the hell out—now!!!”
Outside the fruit shop, Liang Ziyu has just put on a tweed coat when he happens to overhear the three Strength-Type Ability Users under him talking about switching teams. Furious, he storms out without even changing properly, shouting so loudly that he startles them inside the fruit milk tea shop.
Wang Wei turns around, looking awkward. He really doesn’t mean to poach Liang Ziyu’s people, but since Liang Ziyu flares up first, there’s no time to explain.
“All of you acting like leaving here is going to send you straight to heaven—then go! Get lost!!!”
Liang Ziyu is so furious he blurts out things he never means to say.
“What did we agree on at the start? To share our fortunes and hardships, and to die together if it comes to that. I get it now. You only stay here for A’Ju, don’t you? Now that you have Xu Lier, you can’t wait to switch sides. Fine—go! Get out!!!”
“Ziyu, don’t say that!” One of the three Strength-Type Ability Users, who’s been with Liang Ziyu the longest since the apocalypse began, steps forward. “We want to leave, sure—but don’t you? You’re the one who led us to merge with Zhan Lian’s team, but did they ever treat you like a captain? Did they ever consult you before making decisions?”
Liang Ziyu’s chin—adorned with a small goatee—twitches in anger. He shouts, “They don’t consult me because I don’t care! I don’t want to think about that crap—I’m not like you, always overcomplicating things! I don’t want to leave!”
He turns away, too angry to deal with the three any longer.
Things have already come to this point—what’s the use? Even if they’re barely hanging on in the same team, everyone’s already harboring their own selfish thoughts. No one dares to truly entrust their life to anyone else anymore.
