Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

After walking around the second floor, Anran comes across several stores, most of which are maternal and child shops, along with a candy store. Little Mint and Heng Heng would likely love the candy, so she decides to break open the candy store door and grab some sweets for the kids.

She then returns to the maternity store and finds Liu Yuan still asleep on the floor.

Anran pushes the stroller over, glances at Liu Yuan, who seems weak, and asks her, “Sister Yuan, what’s wrong with you?”

“I think I have a fever,” Liu Yuan mumbles, turning over. Her face is flushed, though she remains conscious.

Anran considers that there is a pharmacy outside the mall where she could get some antipyretic medicine for Liu Yuan. However, to reach the pharmacy, she’d need to go outside through Gate No. 3, and now that the mall has finally stabilized, it isn’t the best time to take such a risk.

She hesitates, thinking of asking Yun Tao for his opinion, but Liu Yuan shakes her head and says,

“It’s fine. Everyone’s survival is already difficult enough. It’s just a little fever. Don’t worry about it. I can manage.”

After hearing Liu Yuan’s words, Anran sits next to her and touches her forehead. It isn’t very hot, and it doesn’t seem serious, which makes her feel a little relieved.

Then, Liu Yuan says, “Anran, do you hate me?”

“Why do you ask that?”

“When we were getting on the bus, I hesitated. I didn’t want you to get on because Doll kept crying. I was so scared… I was afraid of being dragged down by Doll, afraid that Heng Heng would die with me… So…”

“Don’t say that, it’s human nature,” Anran interrupts, her face showing a hint of indifference.

These things, in simple terms, are part of human nature. Just a moment ago, when Liu Yuan mentioned her fever, didn’t Anran also hesitate about whether to help Liu Yuan find antipyretic medicine? Of course, she reacts immediately, but it’s for her own safety first.

After everything that happened with Chen Jiao, Anran’s heart isn’t as fragile as it used to be.

The two chat for a little while longer. Liu Yuan’s eyes grow heavy, and Anran understands, deciding not to disturb her further. She pushes the stroller and goes to find Yun Tao again.

Yun Tao has broken into a boutique on the second floor, looking for tools to kill the bronze-skinned and iron-boned zombie. Little Mint and Heng Heng, each carrying a small bucket, are joyfully collecting crystal cores and run up the escalator. Heng Heng, with his short legs, is following Little Mint closely. The two children have bright, happy expressions.

Anran, pushing the stroller, can’t help but smile at the sight. She is about to suggest the children take a break when her face suddenly changes. She sees that the bronze-skinned and iron-boned zombie has somehow broken through the rope tree and has already climbed out of the children’s playground. It is now standing right behind Heng Heng.

“Run!!! Come chase me!!!” Anran yells urgently, turning and running toward the maternity store with the stroller.

Little Mint, not reacting quickly enough, watches Anran run off without understanding what is happening. Heng Heng, being so young, stands there confused.

Heng Heng, a young child, stands there, blankly. He only feels as though something is behind him. When he turns around, he sees the zombie standing right behind him. The zombie passes right over Heng Heng and Little Mint, chasing after Anran.
