- Chapter 215 - High-Level Zombies with Strong Bones
On the opposite side of Zhan Lian’s battle, the pressure outside the park suddenly eases. With Zhan Lian drawing away some zombies and Anran’s situation attracting others, Lei Jiang also leads a team toward the mall—only to be stunned by the overwhelming horde surrounding it.
Did zombies need a mobile granary now?
A large group of survivors has been gathered in the park for a long time, yet they’ve never attracted this many zombies. So what is it about this so-called “mobile granary” that draws such a terrifying swarm?
Anran ponders the same question. But more importantly, why are the other zombies relatively easy to deal with, while the one chasing her is impossibly tough? It’s like an indestructible fortress—her lilies can’t even scratch it.
Even worse, it seems to have something resembling vision. Unlike normal zombies that rely on smell or sound, this one locks onto her with uncanny precision. It runs a few steps, pauses, then emits those eerie, hoarse calls.
There’s no way Anran dares to lead it upstairs.
She has no choice but to keep luring the bronze-skinned, iron-boned zombie around the first-floor escalator while frantically thinking of a way to kill it.
Drowning it? Burning it?
Impossible. She has neither water nor fire at her disposal. And her once-unbeatable lilies are nothing more than trampled weeds beneath its feet.
Why the hell is something this powerful appearing here, right next to her? Is this the final form of zombie evolution? Or is this just the beginning of a terrifying new phase?
Anran wants to curse.
Of all the zombies she could have encountered, why does she have to run into this monstrous high-level one? She can’t kill it, can’t stop it, and can’t even eat it! What is she supposed to do?!
The only silver lining is that its speed and agility aren’t beyond human levels. It moves no faster than an average adult, which means Anran can keep circling the first-floor lobby while figuring out how to deal with the lesser zombies it has summoned.
But as if fate has decided she isn’t struggling enough, a new disaster strikes.
From the escalator leading to the second floor, the faint cry of a baby echoes through the mall.
Anran’s heart clenches.
Is Doll hungry? Cold? In danger?
Her sweat-drenched body tenses, her breathing quickens—not from exhaustion, but from rising panic.
Then the worst possible thing happens.
The moment the bronze-skinned zombie hears Doll’s cries, it snaps its head upward.
Its throat quivers before it lets out a guttural, beast-like roar toward the second floor.
The response is immediate.
The zombies surrounding the supermarket entrance and the No. 1 gate howl back in excitement.
With their renewed frenzy, the SUV blocking the supermarket passage is shoved inward by the sheer force of the undead tide. The barrier collapses.
Zombies pour into the first-floor lobby like a flood.
Some immediately make their way toward the escalator, their rotten hands grasping the sides as they begin to climb.
And Doll is still crying.
The pitiful wails twist Anran’s heart like a knife.
Her nails dig into her palms as she grits her teeth and screams at the zombies swarming the escalator.
“What do you want?! I’m here! I’M HERE!!!”
But her voice does little to deter them.
Some turn toward her, but others ignore her completely, continuing their ascent.
Then, from the second floor, a new sound rings out.
Yun Tao stands against the glass guardrail, gripping a mobile phone in his hand.
The screen lights up as he shakes it, and suddenly, an obnoxiously loud song blasts through the speakers.

It’s a cheap knockoff phone, the kind designed for elderly folks who love square dancing—its volume cranked up to the max.
The absurdity of the moment hits Anran, but she has no time to dwell on it.
The zombies have been called, and the battle is far from over.
