How to Raise a Baby in an Apocalypse - Chapter 205
Anran then instructs Little Mint to find some food in the maternity store and watch over Doll while she grabs a pack of baby disinfectant wipes and runs back to the upper level of the showroom.
As soon as she arrives, the lilies, previously destroyed, revive and continue clearing the zombies on the roof. Anran leans against the guardrail, looking down at Liu Yuan, who is peeking out from the car’s skylight.
Liu Yuan meets her gaze, and without a word, Anran tosses the disinfectant wipes down.
Liu Yuan catches them, takes a quick look, then raises her head and calls out, “Anran, do you have anything for bandaging? Brother Tao’s wound can’t stay exposed like this. Gauze, cotton—anything clean will do.”
“I’ll look for something.”
Anran turns back and rummages through the maternity store. After searching for a long time, she finds a pack of sanitary napkins, sprints back to the exhibition hall, and throws them down to Liu Yuan.
“Try this. Wrap his wound first, and then we’ll figure out a long-term plan.”
Liu Yuan nods, takes the unopened pack, retreats into the car, tears it open, then lifts Yun Tao’s shirt to press the sanitary napkin onto his wound.
Meanwhile, Anran continues searching and finds some maternity clothes. Using the military knife, she tears them into strips and throws them down as well. Liu Yuan uses the fabric to create a makeshift bandage, securing Yun Tao’s wound with a simple dressing.
After that, Anran tosses some biscuits and bottled water from the second floor. Liu Yuan hands some food to Heng Heng and carefully feeds water to Yun Tao, who remains unconscious in the passenger seat.
Gradually, Yun Tao stirs.
“Brother Tao, you’re awake!”
Liu Yuan, covered in dirt, beams with joy as she watches Yun Tao slowly regain consciousness.
Yun Tao lets out a weak groan, his parched lips parting slightly as his head tilts toward the water bottle in Liu Yuan’s hands. Understanding immediately, Liu Yuan helps him drink.
After finishing nearly half the bottle, Yun Tao seems to regain some strength, though his face remains as pale as paper. Liu Yuan feeds him some biscuits, and as he chews, Yun Tao sluggishly turns his head, taking in his surroundings.
Liu Yuan smiles and explains, “Anran threw these supplies down. She’s really strong now—she can control flowers to eat zombies! But the range is limited. If it gets too wide, she loses control.”
This is, of course, good news, so Liu Yuan makes sure to frame it that way.
Yun Tao listens in silence, as if absorbing the information, then nods. Looking past Liu Yuan at the mass of zombies surrounding the exhibition hall, he finally speaks in a hoarse voice.
“There are two open entrances to the first floor, and too many zombies. If Anran keeps moving around on the second floor, the zombies will start climbing up. When that happens, she might not be able to hold out.”
He pauses for a moment, then instructs firmly, “Liu Yuan, drive and block the entrance to the underground supermarket.”
Even in his weakened state, Yun Tao’s keen insight remains sharp. The reason the zombies on the first floor keep swarming in is that both entryways are open. By blocking one of them, Anran can focus her energy on defending the other. Once both are sealed off, the zombies inside the hall will be trapped like fish in a barrel—easier to pick off one by one.
