Pu Han had always been a nominal Radiance level, and now that he finally showed signs of leveling up, it was actually inseparable from this incident.

It’s not that Yang Buqi wanted to drag his brother into this unnecessarily, mainly because the outcome brought by a previously accumulated Star level was too tragic, making it hard for him not to worry about Pu Han’s situation.

Things pushed to this point seemed difficult to continue. After all, lacking information, no matter how much they brainstormed, it would all be speculation.

That was all they could ask from the Planchette Pen. Xu Turan had managed to get its old QQ number and log in, but the account was thoroughly banned. She tried to apply for unbanning but didn’t succeed; at present, the only entry point remained that man in the ginger yellow shirt.

Yang Buqi said he was currently making hair growth water and skincare products, which he would use to bribe some internal employees of Taobao shops for information. Xu Turan nodded, remembering she had arranged to have lunch with Zhu Tang and the others, and stood up to leave.

“By the way,” Yang Buqi returned the notebook to her, casually asking, “If we really find out who’s behind all this, what do you plan to do?”

“Frankly speaking, I really hate being manipulated,” Xu Turan said bluntly, “Assuming there are really two masterminds behind this, then we’ll deal with them one by one—first, find the one who wants me dead and take him out.”

…Alright, that’s very Xu Turan.

Yang Buqi thought unsurprisingly, and then heard her continue: “Then, go find the one who wants me alive—and hang myself in front of his house.”

…?!!

Wait, hold on? What kind of strange idea is this now?

Yang Buqi was stunned, and in the next second heard Xu Turan laugh.

“I’m just kidding. Under normal circumstances, I do value my life quite a bit.” As she spoke, she slapped the snacks she had bought along with the ice cream onto Yang Buqi’s chest, “I’m off to eat now!”

Yang Buqi: …

He stood alone in the spot, looking down at the rainbow candy Xu Turan had stuffed into his hands, then at Xu Turan’s retreating figure. After a moment of silence, he finally broke into a gentle smile.

The “Fairytale Town” group had arranged to eat in the cafeteria today, and also to confirm tomorrow’s mission plan.

Xu Turan had already met the other two girls in the group through Zhu Tang’s introduction. The one with the “Rapunzel” attribute was called Shu Xiaopei. Although she was “Rapunzel”, she actually had a very cool buzz cut. Apparently, it was because her hair grew too fast, requiring daily cuts, and in a fit of anger, she had it all shaved off.

The other one, “Fairy Godmother”, was named Lin Ge. She looked like a very quiet and gentle girl. She was also the only “Order” tendency ability user Xu Turan knew so far, with a unique skill called “Godmother’s Blessing”, which could bestow new attributes to other people or objects within a limited time.

However, because of her low level, the potential of this skill was actually still very limited.

As for the promised “Little Mermaid”, she had yet to join. Zhu Tang told Xu Turan that the girl, as a newcomer, was not adapting very well, with significant mood swings. Let alone becoming a companion, whether she could recover to a normal life level was actually quite uncertain.

But since they had already met, Zhu Tang would occasionally go to visit her. In her words, whether they become teammates in the future or not, once you’re in this place, you’re in the same boat. As people who’ve been through it, they go over to cheer her up from time to time, just in case it might help.

Like today, she had also scheduled a visit to the Little Mermaid. However, Shu Xiaopei and Lin Ge both had part-time jobs in the afternoon, so only Xu Turan accompanied her.

…Xu Turan was actually dragged along by her. For some reason, Zhu Tang had a strange faith in Xu Turan’s “Snow White” attribute, firmly believing that the all-charm aura that came with this attribute would also work on humans. Maybe it could make the Little Mermaid approach her proactively.

Xu Turan didn’t have the heart to tell her that she didn’t have that thing at all.

In any case, Xu Turan still went along after lunch. This was her first time entering the inpatient department of Ciji Institute in a conscious state—she had stayed at Ciji Institute when she was unconscious before, but in a quieter area.

This place was clearly different from the outer inpatient department, housing ability users with poor mental states. These were either newcomers who had not yet adapted to their physical and mental changes, or veteran employees who had lost control during the upgrading process.

Large sheets of identifying papers were pasted on the corridor walls. Xu Turan curiously flipped one over to look, and saw that the back was actually covered in runes.

Zhu Tang walked familiarly to a ward. The door wasn’t closed, so she poked her head in and knocked: “Good afternoon, I’ve come to play with you!”

There was only one long-haired girl in the ward, with delicate and beautiful features, and extremely pale skin. She was sitting on the bed reading a book. Hearing Zhu Tang’s voice, she only glanced at her lightly, nodded, and quickly returned her gaze to the book.

Zhu Tang gave a dry laugh, turned to look at Xu Turan, and explained in a low voice: “Xiao Li’s voice isn’t good right now. She generally doesn’t speak.”

After saying this, she put on a smile and entered the room, replacing the flowers she had brought in the vase. Xu Turan tentatively followed her in, and the Little Mermaid who was flipping through the book glanced at her, her gaze suddenly pausing.

Then she widened her eyes and spoke in surprise: “Xu… Turan?”

Her voice was indeed not good. She could only produce a hissing sound. Even so, Xu Turan could roughly make out her meaning: “Are you… Xu Turan?”

She put down the book and leaned forward somewhat urgently: “You’ve come here too? Have you also… gotten a strange disease?”

…?

Zhu Tang, who was arranging the flowers, looked up in confusion, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two: “You two know each other?”

Xu Turan: …Good question, I’d like to know too.

She looked somewhat awkwardly at the “Little Mermaid”, inwardly regretting not asking Zhu Tang for her name before coming: “Um, Xiao Li? Long time no see…”

“…I’m Audrey,” the Little Mermaid frowned, “You don’t remember me? We were in the same high school before. Golden Tree Academy…”

Oh no.

Xu Turan felt even more embarrassed.

Of course she knew about “Golden Tree”, it was the school the original owner had transferred to from Gu Chenfeng and the others’ middle school. It was said to be a closed-management noble girls’ school—the problem was, she hadn’t inherited the original owner’s memories.

She didn’t even know where that school was, let alone the people in it.

Just as Xu Turan was seriously considering whether to pretend to have amnesia, the Little Mermaid had already spoken urgently: “How did you end up here too? Were you also called to that… neighborhood?”

…?

Xu Turan’s expression froze, and she reflexively asked: “What?”

Soon, she regretted it.

Hearing her question, the Little Mermaid calmed down instead, shaking her head and saying “It’s nothing,” before sitting back on the bed and picking up her book again.
