Chapter 49: Back to School Season (1)

【That person added me on their own, when I hadn’t been banned yet.】

【He told me that if someone came to the warehouse looking for omniscience-related items in the future, I could [read] them. If I discovered that the customer I read was once a [dead person], that would be my chance. If I seized it, there might be a possibility of getting unbanned.】

【Did I trust him? Not completely. I tried to [read] him, and my pen tip exploded, taking a long time to recover.】

【I really can’t say more. If I do, I’ll explode again. Really.】

【If I had known the outcome would be like this, I wouldn’t have come even if he killed me.】

【Later? Later I got banned. About half a year ago, the neighbors used a network manager and blocked my device that was piggybacking on their WiFi, so I couldn’t get online anymore.】

……

In the small garden inside the Ciji Institute.

Yang Buqi sat under the wisteria trellis, carefully reading through the notebook in his hand, his expression serious.

“This part of the content is also all true,” he cautiously spoke, looking at Xu Turan beside him, “But… are you sure this is something you can show me?”

Not to mention anything else, just in those few lines of text, it clearly involved secrets of more than just the Planchette Pen.

Xu Turan was seriously digging into a tri-color cup of ice cream. Hearing this, she didn’t even lift her head: “Since I gave it to you, naturally it’s something you can see. However, there are some things you shouldn’t ask me directly. For certain reasons, I can’t say even if you ask.”

She knew Yang Buqi was referring to that “dead person” sentence. Regarding this point, she had actually agonized over it, but after some thought, she still decided to give it to Yang Buqi for verification.

On one hand, she needed to confirm as much as possible the intelligence obtained from the Planchette Pen, and on the other hand, it was also because she trusted Yang Buqi.

She and Yang Buqi were in a delicate balance regarding “secrets”. They both knew some of each other’s secrets, and were also very clear that the other still had some secrets in an undisclosed state.

Knowing but not digging deeper was a unique tacit understanding between them. Frankly speaking, this state was very comfortable for Xu Turan, after all, always trying to conceal things was quite troublesome.

And from a certain perspective, Xu Turan actually quite hoped that Yang Buqi could figure out the “transmigration” thing on his own. Or at least think in that direction—from the information currently available, someone had already foreseen her arrival. In other words, her arrival itself might also be an important piece of information.

Unfortunately, constrained by the so-called “transmigration rules”, she couldn’t give any hints in this regard. Although Xu Turan was quite dubious about this now, it was still safer to act according to the rules before confirming the reality of the “transmigration” itself.

Coming back to the present, it was now late July, and half of the summer vacation had already passed… According to the original novel’s progress, the original male and female protagonists should have already met by this time. That is to say, the real plot of the novel should have already begun…

But this shouldn’t have anything to do with me, right?

Xu Turan thought uncertainly. According to the pitifully little original material, she wouldn’t meet the original male protagonist until a year later, so she should be able to continue enjoying herself during this period.

She thought silently as she finished scooping up the last bit of ice cream. On the other side, just as Xu Turan had guessed, Yang Buqi didn’t say much more after hearing her answer, only nodding lightly to indicate he understood.

“The content on this is all true,” he turned his attention back to the notebook Xu Turan had brought, which was full of red writing left by the Planchette Pen, “Including the part about him using QQ groups for proselytizing… ahem.”

He cleared his throat, barely suppressing the urge to make a sarcastic comment, and instead said: “But I feel like something’s not quite right.”

“?” Xu Turan threw the ice cream cup into the nearby trash can, “Can you elaborate?”

“I can’t quite put my finger on it, it’s just a sense of dissonance…” Yang Buqi frowned slightly, “You said earlier that the person who instructed Ghost House No. 71 to ambush you directly told it you were ‘delicious’. But this person told the Planchette Pen that you could help it get unbanned.”

“In other words, he didn’t explicitly instruct it to harm you. In fact, looking at the outcome of things…”

“It actually helped me,” Xu Turan calmly interjected.

Yang Buqi looked at her in surprise: “You noticed that too?”

“Mm-hmm.” Xu Turan nodded, “Actually, I’ve been thinking about it before. If there hadn’t been the Planchette Pen in this incident, what would have happened to us?”

Yang Buqi gave her a deep look, his face showing signs of contemplation.

Undeniably, the Planchette Pen played a significant role in this incident. Firstly, as a high-level entity, its presence amplified the effect of Xu Turan’s passive skill, objectively buying them time; although writing the escape plan was a deception, it did provide a lot of useful information.

—Most importantly, at the final critical moment, without this pen, they would have charged the sealing box more slowly, and delayed distracting Ghost House No. 71. Given the situation at that time, it would undoubtedly have developed into two possible outcomes:

Either an enraged Ghost House No. 71 would have broken through the rune formation and directly attacked Xu Turan. Or Xu Turan would have absorbed more power from No. 71 through the rune formation. But this obviously wouldn’t have been something that could be resolved with just three to five days of unconsciousness.

Yang Buqi carefully went through everything in his mind, a hint of surprise appearing in his eyes: “Are you suggesting that this pen was sent by someone to help you?”

“It’s just a possibility,” Xu Turan said, “If that’s really the case, then this incident essentially had two behind-the-scenes manipulators. One arranged Ghost House No. 71, wanting to kill me. The other arranged the Planchette Pen to help me.”

Without a doubt, the party that wanted to kill her definitely wanted her dead. But the party that helped her might not necessarily wish her well.

“…And of these two people, at least one has precognitive tendencies. Otherwise, it wouldn’t have been possible to calculate so precisely,” Yang Buqi mused thoughtfully, “From what we can see now, the one who arranged the Planchette Pen seems more like a precognitive.”

“Right. It’s as if he foresaw the existence of Ghost House No. 71, so he arranged a solution in advance,” Xu Turan said, “But if he’s a precognitive, he can only be someone more powerful than Feifei… then why would he want to help me?”

“Perhaps it’s possible that it’s one person setting up the whole thing?” Yang Buqi rubbed his temples, “He deceived both Ghost House No. 71 and the Planchette Pen at the same time, arranging this grand play. Just to guide towards a certain outcome…”

“What outcome? To make me level up?” Xu Turan folded her arms.

“…Not necessarily just you.” Yang Buqi seemed to think of something, his expression changing slightly, “Pu Han is also preparing to level up. Once he levels up, he’ll be Star level.”
