There was a shriveled yellow eyeball on the rune representing “suppression”. Pu Han stared at it for a while, then said meaningfully, “Come to think of it, when I was facing off against that big fish earlier, I felt something was a bit off…”

Yang Buqi: ?

“Its power wasn’t complete. It seemed that before engaging with us, it had already been weakened somewhat—though the whole process wouldn’t have been that smooth.”

Pu Han said, then laughed, “Quite strange, isn’t it?”

“…” Yang Buqi’s heart skipped a beat. Though he knew it was futile, he still moved his body, propping one hand on the cabinet behind Xu Turan—just blocking that conversion rune.

“What… did you ‘see’?” he asked in a low voice after a slight hesitation.

“I’m very weak now, I can’t see anything,” Pu Han said gloomily. “Besides, what I ‘see’ doesn’t really matter. What’s important is whether others can see it.”

After saying this, he sat down wearily against the wall, closing his eyes as if resting. Beside him, Yang Buqi pondered for a moment, then, as if making up his mind, reached out and carefully lifted Xu Turan from the ground, gently placing her on the clean sofa nearby. He then cut his hand, dipped his finger in blood, and quickly began smearing over the runes Xu Turan had drawn.

Just as Pu Han said, it wasn’t long before the entire domain began to collapse—Yang Buqi carried the unconscious Xu Turan on his back, dragging the weakened Pu Han to the second floor, and took away Xu’s adopted brother who was still in a deep sleep. Along the way, he also packed and hid several supernatural items Xu Turan had placed in the house. Finally, lugging the family and carrying all sorts of packages, they made it out the front door. Looking out, outside was a scene of clear sunshine, with the bright sun high in the sky.

Looking back, they saw the numbers on the door plate automatically peeling off, revealing the true number underneath—No. 132.

…It was only later that Yang Buqi learned that the house Xu Turan lived in had probably been parasitized by Haunted House No. 71 long before she moved in.

For some unknown reason, it had quietly descended upon this residential house, overlapping its “domain” with it, and gradually took control of Xu’s brother who was active in the house.

However, its direct control was limited to within the house. Once outside the door, the controlled person was still free, only that memories about the house would be distorted and rationalized. Xu Turan was actually just a step away from being controlled, but fortunately, she noticed the existence of this monster in time and cut the thread at the back of her neck.

Xu Turan’s adopted brother was sent to the hospital. Thanks to Yang Buqi’s preemptive treatment, he didn’t suffer any major issues. Afterwards, specialized personnel went to the hospital for follow-up work. After confirming he wasn’t contaminated, they directly hypnotized him to prevent any psychological trauma.

Yes—specialized personnel.

After all, capturing Haunted House No. 71 was a big deal, and it even involved the use of a high-level sealing box. After the domain was formally activated, it also attracted the attention of nearby ability users. When they came out, there was already a team anxiously monitoring outside.

They couldn’t hide this, nor could they. However, no matter what, some things absolutely couldn’t be known to outsiders.

Pu Han knew Yang Buqi didn’t like lying, so he took on all the explanation work. He only said that Feifei liked Xu Turan, so he took advantage of the holiday to bring Feifei to play with her, and also invited Yang Buqi along the way—but when they got there, they unexpectedly discovered traces of Haunted House No. 71. Xu Turan, because of her “Snow White” quality, successfully dazed No. 71, weakening its aggressiveness and buying them time to act.

According to the plan, Yang Buqi lured Haunted House No. 71 away from the outside, while he and Xu Turan took the opportunity to enter the time fragment, completed the charging of the sealing box, and finally lured No. 71 in to complete the sealing.

Therefore, the runes in the room were all drawn by Yang Buqi, and he only drew a large number of defensive runes. Anyway, the Ciji Institute wouldn’t really investigate the blood traces, as long as a plausible explanation could be given.

Of course, he deliberately erased all parts about summoning evil beings, only saying that those evil beings appeared on their own, and they just picked them up to use—after all, summoning evil beings is definitely troublesome if mentioned. Xu Turan was still unconscious so it was fine, but he himself would definitely not escape another round of ideological and moral education.

As for Xu Turan’s Planchette Pen and other supernatural items, Pu Han didn’t mention them at all. Yang Buqi had transferred them to his own place in advance and covered the related auras with his own tools, thus successfully concealing them and avoiding the subsequent on-site inspection.

In the past, Yang Buqi would never have cooperated so readily with such an extremely dishonest performance. Even if he had to do it, he would have at least struggled internally for a while. However, this time, he didn’t show any resistance at all, silently following Pu Han’s lead. After everything was settled, he went to check on Xu Turan in the hospital room.

All the wrap-up work was actually quite quick, taking less than two days in total. What worried Yang Buqi was that during these dozens of hours, Xu Turan never had a moment of true consciousness.

She was placed in an internal ward of the Ciji Institute. Sometimes she would have a fever, but the heat would quickly subside. Occasionally she would wake up, say a few incoherent words, and quickly close her eyes again.

Yang Buqi carefully discerned what she said. She kept repeating either “My legs hurt so much” or “I need to go over there.”

No one could figure out what exactly was going on. Yang Buqi had his guesses, but didn’t dare to bring them up. He could only visit from time to time, using his ability to treat her, hoping it would be of some use.

As he finished his visit that day and left the ward, he happened to run into Pu Han coming from the other end of the corridor. Their eyes met, and Pu Han discreetly gave him a look, walking past Yang Buqi. Yang Buqi hesitated slightly, then turned to follow him all the way to the end of the corridor.

Pu Han looked around, making sure there was no one nearby and no surveillance cameras, then said, “Still not awake?”

“No,” Yang Buqi pressed his lips together. “Do you know what’s really going on?”

“I wasn’t sure before. Now I have a general idea,” Pu Han exhaled, leaning lazily against the wall. “You actually have a pretty good idea too, right? Her condition at that time, and those runes…”

Yang Buqi: “…”

He looked away, not saying anything.

He actually only had some guesses—although it seemed unlikely, at that time Xu Turan was leaning against the conversion rune, and there were parts of Haunted House No. 71 in the rune array. When he rushed over, the entire rune array was in operation, and that yellow eyeball had shriveled…
