Charging the sealing box required specific runes, and Yang Buqi had to help draw these to forcibly guide the power of the young No. 71 into the sealing box—thanks to him actually already having a Torch-level tendency, otherwise this would have been quite difficult.

It’s also fortunate that this young version of No. 71 was genuinely afraid of fire—Pu Han had brought many candles when he came over, and arranged them in a large circle around it, like a birthday cake. The young No. 71 wanted to move but didn’t dare, and could only shrink within the circle of candles, watching gloomily as Yang Buqi walked back and forth beside it, using blood to draw patterns on the ground and walls that made it very uneasy.

To accommodate this No. 71, they specifically sought out an empty room. Xu Turan squatted outside the room, organizing the materials needed for the next ritual. Noticing Yang Buqi’s tense profile, she reassured, “Don’t worry, if the plan really fails, I’ll throw out a set of control skills. You can carry Pu Han and run, at least you can gain some breathing room. Don’t always think about the worst outcome.”

“Besides, we’re now inside fragments of time, we can keep an eye out for information about the so-called ‘survivors’ while preparing for the ritual. What if we find them during the process? Right?” Xu Turan patted her hands and stood up, turning to look at him.

Yang Buqi gave a muffled “mm” and lowered his eyes: “Does your hand still hurt?”

Xu Turan: ?

“Just your previous… those cuts…” Yang Buqi pointed at his palm, and Xu Turan suddenly realized, shaking her head repeatedly: “It’s fine, it’s fine, all healed, doesn’t hurt anymore. Thank you.”

She knew that Yang Buqi was referring to the “stigmata” left on her by the Planchette Pen earlier—Yang Buqi had noticed these wounds as soon as they met up and had treated them for her with pursed lips.

However, because the Planchette Pen that created the wounds was actually of a higher level, and they were now in the domain, his healing effect was somewhat weakened. Although he successfully healed all the wounds, some faint red marks were still left.

Xu Turan knew these red marks would disappear after they got out, so she didn’t care much. Hearing Yang Buqi inquire about it now, she just thought he was still gloomy inside and trying to change the subject. She didn’t mention the escape plan again, but instead poked her head in and said, “These runes, there are so many. What are they all for?”

“Suppression; confinement; high-level defense; energy absorption, and here’s another for conversion—that’s a complete set. Finally, just put the sealing box in the conversion position and it’s done.” Yang Buqi briefly introduced each one to her, and Xu Turan nodded thoughtfully.

“Actually, I’ve been wanting to ask. Why do we have to forcibly charge it?” She glanced at the pile of black threads in the candle circle and lowered her voice: “You’re Torch-level. Pu Han is Radiance-level. Can’t we just kill it directly and then… squeeze the juice?”

…Squeeze the juice. She said squeeze the juice.

Yang Buqi choked for a moment at Xu Turan’s wording, was silent for a while, and automatically ignored this wording issue:

“It’s very difficult for humans to directly eliminate abominations. We can only ‘dispel’ or ‘suppress’ them. Only abominations can kill abominations, because they can devour each other and directly absorb and digest each other’s power.”

“I see…” Xu Turan nodded, seeming to understand but not quite, then turned and hugged the materials, walking into another room at the end of the corridor—Pu Han had chosen that place as the location for the next summoning ritual.

The young version of Haunted House No. 71 watched her walk out in front of it, shrinking in the circle of flames, silently hugging itself.

The Planchette Pen floated out again to wave its sign, not giving up any chance to express itself:

【Look at it, isn’t it pitiful? Doesn’t it look like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered in a slaughterhouse?】

【It has just come into this world, it still doesn’t understand anything, yet it has to face such a cruel end.】

【Without summoning, there would be no harm. Reject summoning, start with you and me.】

Xu Turan: …

“Fine, if you’re so kind, then you go keep it company now.” She said, pinching the pen and throwing it towards the pile of candles—the pen drew an arc in the air, but halfway through, it made a sharp turn and zipped back into Xu Turan’s pocket, not saying anything more.

“…” Xu Turan pouted, shaking her head, and continued walking towards the deep end of the corridor.

The first step of the plan soon met with success.

As a Torch-level, Yang Buqi triggered the runes, successfully guiding part of the energy from the young No. 71 into the sealing box—this made the whole young No. 71 look much more withered, both its movements and reactions becoming more sluggish.

Pu Han and Xu Turan had long prepared the second summoning ritual. As soon as Yang Buqi finished here, Xu Turan led the second one over there. Due to the chaotic logic within the time fragments, the coexistence of two No. 71 didn’t cause any problems.

…It just looked quite strange.

Xu Turan used the fire disaster flashlight to force it into a corner of another empty room, quickly surrounding it with candles. Yang Buqi followed and began to draw runes again—these special functional runes are all targeted, and once the target changes, they need to be redrawn. Because the intervals between the two drawings were too short, his face had turned a bit pale.

And by the time Xu Turan led the third one along the corridor, Yang Buqi’s eyes were already a bit blurry.

We’re… we should be fighting monsters now, right?

He thought hazily. For some reason, at this moment, he actually had a feeling of working on an assembly line.

The point is, being in close contact with three Pyre-level abominations, even he couldn’t help feeling a sense of difficulty breathing. The survival instinct inside him was screaming frantically, cold sweat pouring out unstoppably—and Xu Turan…

Xu Turan was like nothing was wrong, swinging the flashlight in her hand like a little whip herding sheep.

Yang Buqi: …

“Um.” He coughed and asked tactfully, “Don’t you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

Xu Turan: ?

“They, although they’re phantoms. But they’re also high-level in chaos.” Yang Buqi reminded, “If you feel uncomfortable, you must say so.”

Xu Turan slowly nodded, thought for a moment, and said: “I feel fine. It was only uncomfortable the first time I saw them, but I got used to it later. I guess I’ve developed immunity.”

Yang Buqi: …

Xu Turan: “? What’s wrong?”

“No-nothing.” Yang Buqi shook his head with complex emotions, “Then… maintain your condition. That’s good.”

After speaking, he adjusted his breathing and turned to walk towards the room where Pu Han was.
