Pu Han nodded, stood in the middle of the magic circle, closed his eyes and took a deep breath.

I never thought I’d have a day when I summon an evil god—even Pu Han himself felt this was outrageous.

Feifei patted the back of his left hand reassuringly, Pu Han opened his eyes, stroked her in return, then picked up the paper in front of him and, following the written steps, began the focused summoning.

Behind him, the Planchette Pen was still writing on the wall in self-abandonment, while Xu Turan jumped down from the hospital bed and grabbed the foot of the bed with one hand.

The crisis premonition started to be noisy again, amidst the chaotic beeping, she keenly felt that as Pu Han chanted, the atmosphere in the room was quietly changing.

A cold and damp feeling spread like a fine mist, and some subtle sound crept into her ears. The blood water placed in cups and plates floated up on its own, as if being sipped by something, gradually fading in color.

And as they faded, another outline gradually appeared in the room.

That outline was very large, even though it had not fully materialized, one could feel a strong sense of pressure. The Planchette Pen was writing faster and faster, its tip seeming about to fly off, and equally speeding up was the sound of crisis premonition in Xu Turan’s mind—cold sweat slid down Pu Han’s forehead, his hand holding the paper slip trembled slightly, but his chanting voice grew louder and louder, sounding less like an invocation and more like some kind of frenzied praise.

By the last word, he had almost shouted it out, instinctively raising his head, his chin and neck almost stretching into a straight line—almost at the same moment, the Planchette Pen finally rushed through the last word, darting into Xu Turan’s pocket with a whoosh, not forgetting to write its counted answer in the air before darting away, the handwriting trembling and panicked.

On the other side, Feifei, who was well-prepared, rose again and unceremoniously slapped Pu Han’s face directly.

With a loud “pa” sound, it was extremely clear.

At the same time, a clear prompt sounded in Xu Turan’s mind.

【Congratulations, you have gained 300 Courting Death Value points!】

…It worked.

Xu Turan instinctively looked up, her gaze falling on the air.

There, that huge outline had finally fully formed.

It was a monster like a ray, its soft pectoral fins relaxedly stretched out, surrounded by layers upon layers of black silk threads, among which faintly visible were yellow beads.

Compared to the main body outside, this No. 71 was obviously much smaller, but perhaps because it was awake, it looked more agile and lively, swimming slowly and freely in the air.

To be honest, it was quite a spectacle.

But now was clearly not the time for spectating.

That feeling of being engulfed by water surged up again. Perhaps because the ritual had just been completed, the water only reached the knees, but it was clearly rising quickly. Xu Turan hurriedly called out while forcefully pulling the hospital bed in front of her backwards—

The iron door was heavily slammed open from the outside, and several ethereal figures rushed in aggressively.

These figures were not intelligent. They looked like living people but were more like AIs implanted with fixed programs, completely unable to adapt to changing situations, only stubbornly pursuing a single goal.

Just like now—their long-awaited “god” had already descended, yet they acted as if they didn’t see it, only wanting to catch Pu Han.

Feifei raised high, slapping away all the people who surrounded them one by one. Pu Han seized the opportunity to break through the encirclement and jumped onto the hospital bed pushed by Xu Turan. Xu Turan shoved the bed hard, then turned back and kicked several times, kicking the front-runners stiff, before finally turning to leave.

In just a few steps, the invisible water had already reached her chest. Feifei reached out in time, pulling her out. At the same time, Pu Han had already picked up the lighter Xu Turan had left on the bed and lit the white bedsheet.

Smoke and flames instantly rose from the hospital bed. Several strands of black silk that were closely following behind Xu Turan retreated alertly, silently returning to the room.

“It’s… it’s done, we did it,” Pu Han panted, his right hand suddenly moving on its own. He looked at it curiously: “Feifei?”

Feifei ignored him, closing the iron door properly by herself, then bent over and patted Xu Turan’s head—only then did Pu Han notice that Xu Turan’s complexion wasn’t looking too good.

There was a small window on the iron door. Those ethereal figures that had rushed into the room had become true sacrifices, and the sounds of their struggles and pleas for help kept coming through the small window. Pu Han took a moment to react, finally understanding why Xu Turan’s face looked so unwell.

“You… don’t need to mind it. These are all fake, illusions. Paper people,” Pu Han scratched his head, explaining dryly, “Once we leave, time in this place will start cycling again, and they’ll be alive again.”

“…Mm.” Xu Turan nodded, closing her eyes briefly, quickly adjusting her emotions. She looked up ahead and saw that the originally empty corridor now had quite a few rooms, with a tightly closed door at the end.

She avoided the burning hospital bed and pasted the rules paper back on the door: “What do we do next?”

“Leave, of course,” Pu Han said without hesitation. “Finding the way is also a technical job. There are so many doors here, we can take a look at other time fragments along the way…”

“…” Xu Turan nodded absent-mindedly, pondered for a moment, then suddenly said, “Actually, I have an idea…”

Pu Han: “No, you don’t.”

Xu Turan: “…I haven’t even said anything yet.”

“I can roughly guess what you’re going to say,” Pu Han said. “It’s nothing more than ‘can we kill this fish to eliminate the fish in reality’, or ‘can we make this fish fight and kill the fish in reality’… Unfortunately, neither is possible.”

The young No. 71 they had summoned now only existed in this illusory time fragment. It couldn’t reach reality at all, and its life or death wouldn’t affect the main body in reality either.

Even if they lured the main body into this fragment, the young version wouldn’t be a match for the adult version. It would probably be swallowed in one gulp by the adult body.

…Although for the adult body, swallowing it would be just swallowing loneliness.

“…So, why would it be swallowing loneliness?” Xu Turan, who hadn’t gone to university yet, pondered for a while, expressing her confusion.

“Because its existence is relative, only valid in this kind of space. Once it goes out, its existence will automatically collapse, including the power gained after being swallowed—” Pu Han tried to explain as plainly as possible, “It’s like, it’s 2D, you know? The main body is 3D—”

Xu Turan: …

Although she still didn’t quite understand, she captured the key words well.

“Wait a minute. So you’re saying, if the adult version enters this space and eats the young version, it will still gain some power, but part of that power is limited to this space, and will disappear once it leaves, right?”

She sought confirmation from Pu Han.

Pu Han paused for a moment, then nodded: “Strictly speaking, it’s limited to all time fragments. If the adult version enters other fragments, it would still be effective…”

Xu Turan: “Then if that’s the case, why should we let the adult version have this part of the power?”

Pu Han: …?
