“…No, wait.” Yang Buqi didn’t understand her logic, “How is it good if it works?”

“If it works, the pills will parasitize those female ghosts, making them very agitated,” Xu Turan said matter-of-factly. “Isn’t that good?”

Yang Buqi: …?

“Haunted House No. 71 wants the abominations in the domain to die peacefully, which indicates that this situation must be beneficial to it. If that’s the case, as long as we can make things not go according to its wishes, it’s a kind of victory.”

Xu Turan justified righteously: “Rounding it up, it loses, we win!”

In short, making your enemy unhappy is making yourself happy!

Yang Buqi: …?

???

No, there’s nothing to be proud of in this kind of win, really. We don’t need this kind of weird victory. Staying alive and escaping is the real victory, okay!

Yang Buqi opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing, and silently covered his face.

At this point, their escape exploration had just begun, not even five minutes.

Yet Yang Buqi felt as if five hours had already passed.

Because their starting point was on the second floor, they first checked the two bedrooms and living room on the second floor along the way during their exploration.

They didn’t discover any clues. There were quite a few unsettling situations though.

The faucet in the bathroom would drip water at inappropriate times, and the perfume in the dressing room would mysteriously spill by itself. When Yang Buqi was checking the shower room, the shower head above suddenly turned on by itself. If he hadn’t reacted quickly enough, he would have been drenched on the spot.

If it was just water, it would have been fine, but the point was that Yang Buqi could clearly feel that there was something in the water—his collar accidentally got a little wet, and when he reached out to brush it off, his fingers felt something like hair strands.

“Is this all done by ‘it’?” Xu Turan asked in confusion while helping to wipe off the water stains on Yang Buqi’s collar, “But shouldn’t ‘it’ have already been in chaos?”

“A dog with rabies is also in chaos, but that doesn’t mean it won’t bite people,” Pu Han shrugged, “You can understand it as a kind of automatic hunting mechanism.”

“What I’m more concerned about is why water—” Yang Buqi thanked Xu Turan and patted his half-dry collar. He wasn’t sure if it was his imagination, but he felt like he had patted off something like hair strands from his clothes, “Does it like liquid?”

“If you had seen its main body, you wouldn’t have such a question,” Pu Han shook his head, and reminded Xu Turan, “Don’t describe it to him, and don’t recall it either.”

Once recalled, the Shield of Ignorance he applied would waver, and might even fail.

Xu Turan was about to say “it’s just a fish” but swallowed it back upon hearing this. Yang Buqi, however, remembered something else because of this: “Speaking of which, I’ve seen related documents about Haunted House No. 71 before. It mentioned that after the initial ritual, people found more than ten corpses in the house, all died from drowning.”

“The strange thing is, at that time, the house had no running water due to unpaid bills—and there was no water source nearby,” Pu Han calmly continued, “They only found a few plates and golden cups that had been used before in the basement, suspected to have contained liquid…”

He turned his eyes and straightened up: “Why don’t we go to the basement and take a look first.”

Yang Buqi had no objection, but Xu Turan thought for a moment and suddenly stopped him.

“I’m sorry, I know this might sound a bit abrupt,” she chose her words carefully, “but Pu Han, I want to confirm, your current state is fine, right?”

“Hmm?” Pu Han curiously looked at her, “May I ask, what’s the reason for your doubt?”

Xu Turan touched the Planchette Pen she had put back in her pocket through her clothes, but Pu Han seemed to realize something and suddenly waved his hand: “Never mind, no need to explain—I probably know what you’re talking about.”

He paused for a few seconds and turned to Yang Buqi: “Since that’s the case, prophet, why don’t you verify it?”

Yang Buqi: …

Although he wasn’t clear about the situation, Yang Buqi quickly composed himself and looked seriously at Pu Han:

“Pu Han, I ask you. What’s the 23rd article of the ‘Ability User Convention’?”

“‘Anyone who knows the content of this article can only express it verbally when fully concentrated and clear-minded. It can be used as a testing method when necessary.'” Pu Han said without changing his expression, and added, “Trust me, my mind is very clear right now.”

Yang Buqi stared at him for a while, then turned to Xu Turan: “He’s not lying.”

His prophet ability was very special, belonging to both “precognition” and “omniscience” tendencies. Even ability users with high omniscience tendency couldn’t affect his judgment results.

Unless the person being questioned firmly believes in the answer they give. That’s why he asked Pu Han to recite the 23rd article of the convention again—this article was infused with the power of several high-level order ability users and had considerable binding force. Even Pu Han couldn’t violate its constraints.

“If you’re still not at ease, I can tell you one more thing,” Pu Han smiled at Xu Turan, not at all angry about being suddenly questioned, “Feifei is my anchor—and also my supervisor. If there’s anything wrong with me, she would definitely know.”

An anchor refers to something that can stabilize one’s self-perception. Xu Turan looked deeply at Feifei, who immediately patted Pu Han’s chest, looking as if telling her not to worry.

…It’s just that the pat seemed a bit too forceful. Pu Han’s face immediately turned pale, and he started coughing.

With things said to this extent, Xu Turan finally lowered her guard a little. She immediately apologized to Pu Han—although there was still some confusion in her heart.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, it should be like this. If you feel there’s a problem, just say it directly. At times like this, the worst thing is to discover something suspicious but keep it to yourself…” Pu Han waved his hand while coughing, paused for a few seconds, and then said, “Also, I’ll remind you of two things.”

“First, even if an omniscient person is in chaos, they won’t mess up the content they’ve read before,” he said word by word while looking at Xu Turan, “Second, people only ask others about things they don’t know—or things that have been concealed from them.”

After saying this, he glanced at Xu Turan’s pocket, his eyes showing a hint of seriousness.

Xu Turan put one hand on her pocket, her eyes slightly turning, her heart suddenly suspended.

On the other side, Yang Buqi seemed to realize something, his suspicious gaze moving back and forth between the two:

“You two, you’re not hiding anything from me, right?”

The two looked at each other, and shook their heads in tacit understanding: “No.”

Yang Buqi: …
