If the situation had been allowed to develop, what would have happened to her?

This imagination was too terrible. Xu Turan glanced at her convenient adopted brother slumped in the chair, her heart full of rejection.

The giant ray on the ceiling seemed to be sleeping, its soft pectoral fins rising and falling regularly. Seeing that it didn’t seem to notice her, Xu Turan tried to tug at the thread behind her, and carefully picked up the fruit knife on the dining table—

The fruit knife cut across the thread. The thread didn’t break, but it quivered from the stimulation.

That tremor traveled up the thread, and the next instant, the giant ray stuck to the ceiling seemed to wake from a dream, suddenly opening its eyes.

…Yes, eyes.

Xu Turan only now realized that the thing actually had eyes—those randomly arranged arcs, which she had thought were fish scales, almost simultaneously suddenly flipped up, revealing countless murky yellow eyeballs underneath.

Those eyeballs all looked over together, their cold gazes all falling on Xu Turan. In an instant, Xu Turan felt as if something exploded in her brain, the world before her eyes began to shake and spin, the house wrapped in black threads was covered in an eerie red light, and within the red light there seemed to be countless yellow eyeballs, blinking and whispering at her…

Damn it.

Xu Turan inwardly cursed, biting her tongue hard, forcing herself to stay alert, her palm waving in the air, suddenly opening and closing.

—”Confusion” active effect, activate!

Because this time she had found the right target for the spell, the skill finally didn’t miss again. All the murky yellow eyeballs fell into a brief daze, and Xu Turan took the opportunity to grab the milk on the table, suddenly pouring it on the back of her neck, while swinging the small knife in her hand again—

The milk touched the black thread, instantly forming a thin layer of crystal. Xu Turan struck the crystal layer with the knife, and the ice layer and the black thread wrapped inside instantly shattered!

It worked!

Xu Turan’s heart leapt with joy, and she raised the milk carton, giving the black thread behind her adopted brother opposite a splash too—not out of any particular fondness for milk, but because her “Ice No. 7” currently had to be activated through liquid.

Without liquid, there would be no object to crystallize, and the success rate of the skill would be low. This was the experience she had summed up from her few skill training classes.

The thread behind her adopted brother was thicker, and even with the help of “Ice No. 7,” it was still difficult to cut through instantly. Xu Turan had to activate “Confusion” again to buy time, which caused a twinge of pain in her chest—she guessed this might be the “side effect” mentioned in the skill description.

Another cut, and Xu Turan finally cut through all the threads at the back of her convenient adopted brother’s neck. Then she quickly turned and rushed towards the door without thinking—

While rushing, she didn’t forget to check her Courting Death Value again.

She hadn’t noticed earlier due to the hallucinations, but the Courting Death Value prompt had actually sounded once. She had gained 1,200 Courting Death Value points, recovering most of her investment.

Xu Turan didn’t intend to be greedy. After all, the opponent was a Radiance level abomination. For her, this wasn’t just fighting a monster above her level, but fighting a boss above her level. The previous encounter had also made her clearly aware that this wasn’t an opponent she could fight alone—although her skill level was sufficient, the huge inherent gap still existed. She could sneak in some experience points when the opponent was off guard, but she definitely couldn’t win in a head-on fight.

So, the best response was to grab some gains and run. Moreover, her convenient adopted brother still seemed to be breathing, so if she quickly sought help from professionals, they might still be able to save him…

Xu Turan was silently pondering, her fingers about to touch the doorknob, when suddenly a panicked voice sounded from behind—

“Xu Turan?!”

Xu Turan: “…???”

The next second, she felt herself being grabbed around the waist and forcefully pulled back. Then something cold slapped her cheek.

Her vision blurred, then quickly cleared. Xu Turan looked up in confusion, meeting Yang Buqi’s anxious eyes.

“Yang Buqi, how did you come…” Xu Turan frowned, her peripheral vision sweeping the surroundings, her words suddenly trailing off.

She clearly remembered she was running towards the front door. However, looking at the surroundings, she was clearly on the second floor.

And in the sunroom on the second floor.

Xu Turan’s heart skipped a beat, and she turned her head to look in the direction she had just been rushing—

Where was the front door?

It was clearly a wide-open floor-to-ceiling window.

“How is this possible…” Her first reaction was that she had been controlled, and she reached to feel the back of her neck. But she only felt a broken thread.

The broken thread was softly stuck to her skin, like a dead snake. She didn’t sense any danger from it.

But on the back of Yang Buqi’s neck, there was a complete thin black thread, extending straight up towards the top of the sunroom.

Xu Turan followed it up with her gaze, unsurprised to see dense black threads again, with countless blinking yellow eyes.

Yang Buqi looked up with her, a confused expression on his face: “What’s wrong? Did you see something? What’s going on with this house, it suddenly turned into a domain, I barely managed to get in…”

Xu Turan opened her mouth, about to explain, but her gaze involuntarily drifted towards those yellow eyeballs again.

Her consciousness became hazy again, when suddenly a long sigh came, like a clap of thunder, instantly pulling back her awareness:

“Stop looking. If you keep looking, you’ll be led astray again.”

A panting Pu Han appeared in the doorway of the sunroom, leaning against the doorframe, letting out a heavy breath.

“Damn, this situation is quite serious.” He shrugged at the two people in the room, trying his best to control his gaze, pretending not to see the dense black threads and eyes above, “You guys did remember to buy accident insurance, right?”

The other two: “…”

“Pu Han?” Yang Buqi decisively ignored his nonsense and said directly, “How did you get here? Where are the others?”

“There are no others. Feifei said outsiders shouldn’t be involved in this situation.” Pu Han coughed violently twice, then turned to look at Xu Turan.

“Thanks to you, I finally figured out what that thing is. Chaos, Radiance level. It has the ability to hide and disguise itself, and can also create illusions—you should be grateful that you confused it first. And you cut off its control over you in time. Otherwise, by now, you’d already be a corpse.”

Xu Turan: …

She warily looked at the suddenly appeared Pu Han, saw Feifei frantically waving at her, and finally relaxed, then glanced at the wide-open window, slightly frowning:

“But I still fell for its illusion.”

“This is like your skill, it’s passive… Yes, quite coincidentally, you two have clashing types.” Pu Han sighed, then showed a bitter smile, “Moreover, high-level chaos has a deep influence on lower levels…”

Xu Turan’s expression changed slightly. She remembered that Su Sui’er had once said that chaos ability users are easily influenced by abominations of the same tendency, and then become—

“Team wipe triggers.” Pu Han calmly continued, “Brilliant. I originally thought I was the only team wipe trigger here. Now it seems there are two.”

He pointed at Yang Buqi, looking at Xu Turan with a half-smile: “Hey, want to compete to see which of us can kill him first?”

Yang Buqi: “…”

Huh??!
