Behind her was the cold iron door that had already been pushed open. In front of her were the enormous black shadows standing silently. Xu Turan took a deep breath, trying to step forward, walking towards that white small path.

To reach the small path, she needed to cross a large expanse of black wilderness. Xu Turan walked step by step, feeling her footsteps unusually heavy for some reason; and when she finally stepped onto that small path, the familiar prompt sound finally rang out again.

【Congratulations, you have gained 100 Courting Death Value points!】

Xu Turan: …

Just… just like that?

Just walking over doesn’t count as an upgrade?

Xu Turan frowned, suddenly feeling something float by her side. Turning to look, she realized that several semi-transparent figures had appeared beside her at some point.

Those figures were all very blurry, their faces unclear, but Xu Turan could feel that they all emitted a similar eagerness and longing.

She looked ahead following the gaze of those figures, and after great effort, finally saw a ball of light not far in front of her.

A very small light, floating suspended in the darkness. Like a guide for lost travelers, or like a temptation for moths.

Xu Turan felt a slight stirring in her heart, pondered for a moment, and then lifted her foot to walk forward.

She started moving forward too. Just like the countless figures around her. It wasn’t until she had walked about ten steps along the path that Xu Turan realized there were actually far more people on this road than she had imagined—they were crowded together, converging into a crowded semi-transparent river. She was swept along by this river moving forward, and even though she had been walking for a long time, she was still at a distance neither far nor near from that light.

She noticed that some people had fallen behind. Some were walking and suddenly turned into the forest of shadows on both sides, while others stopped in place, looking around bewildered, as if they had suddenly lost their goal of moving forward.

Voices of conversation began to sound in her ears, at first just faint and sporadic whispers, but as she continued to move forward, they gradually became clearer and noisier, like a swarm of buzzing insects, lingering around her ears.

Xu Turan’s brows furrowed even tighter, waving her hand trying to dispel these sounds, but her arms were as heavy as if they were hung with lead—it was then that she realized her body had already become very heavy.

Both her hands and feet. All were so heavy they were difficult to move. She struggled to lift her foot, and suddenly the buzzing conversations in her ears became louder, some speaking words she couldn’t understand, while others were fragments she had heard somewhere before, all the mumbles illogically piled and pieced together, spinning incessantly around her—

“Xu Turan.”

At this moment, she heard her name.

That name was crystal clear, yet she couldn’t tell which direction it came from.

…No

Don’t respond. Don’t look back.

She instinctively realized this point, struggling even harder to move forward.

“Xu Turan.”

“Xu Turan.”

“Xu Turan.”

That voice got closer and closer, like a shadow that couldn’t be shaken off. Although it was calling her name, the pronunciation became stranger and stranger, more and more distorted.

Until the last time, its pronunciation completely lost the characteristics of “Xu Turan,” twisted into two completely unrelated words.

—”Star star”.

Almost at the same time, Xu Turan felt something sharp reach out to her, poking at her back—

Must leave!!

A strong will exploded in her chest, Xu Turan suddenly opened her eyes, her chest still beating violently.

She lay on the bed for a long while before the headache-inducing mumbles gradually faded from her ears. She raised her hand to touch her forehead, feeling a hand of cold sweat, her back also cold.

…This upgrade seems to be harder than she thought.

Xu Turan closed her eyes helplessly, comforting herself while crawling out of bed, intending to get some water to drink.

However, a strange rustling sound attracted her attention at this moment. She looked towards the sound and instantly widened her eyes.

Half an hour later.

Pu Han was shaken awake in his sleep, looking at his right hand with sleepy eyes: “What’s wrong?”

The right hand naturally couldn’t speak, could only try hard to reach for the phone placed on Pu Han’s left side. Pu Han took the phone in confusion, and as soon as he turned it on, he saw a text message pop up.

“Oh, it’s that girl again…” He stared at the message, thought for a moment, then edited the information slightly and forwarded it, before lying back down on the bed.

“…!” Feifei became a bit anxious, constantly pushing his chest.

“It’s fine, Yang Buqi will go handle it. It doesn’t affect our business… be good, go to sleep.”

After saying this, he pressed the still fidgeting right hand onto a small pillow beside him, covered it with a small handkerchief, turned his head to the other side, and instantly returned to dreamland.

Feifei: “…?!!”

Another half hour later.

At 4:30 in the morning.

Yang Buqi, carrying a bunch of tools, rang the doorbell of No. 17 Star Park Villa District, panting heavily.

Xu Turan saw him through the video intercom and was stunned for a moment before immediately coming out to open the door.

“Why are you here?” She was surprised.

“Pu Han told me to come. He said you encountered some trouble…” Yang Buqi followed Xu Turan into the house, scanning around, “What’s the matter? Are there other people in your house? They need to be evacuated.”

“My brother is at home,” Xu Turan said absent-mindedly, showing some embarrassment on her face, “Evacuation… isn’t necessary. It’s not a big deal, just something a bit annoying…”

Yang Buqi: “…?”

“It’s like this, I bought a pen from Taobao yesterday,” knowing she couldn’t lie in front of Yang Buqi, Xu Turan decided to confess everything, “That pen has an Omniscience tendency, it can answer people’s questions… but I didn’t get along well with it.”

So before going to sleep tonight, she did another thing out of mischief.

“I asked it a question,” Xu Turan scratched her face, opening the door, “Then when I woke up in the early morning, the room became like this.”

Yang Buqi looked inside and immediately took a sharp breath.

The floor of the room was covered with papers full of writing, like fallen leaves, piled up in a thick layer.

He picked one up to look, and it was full of swear words written crookedly.

【I’ll f**k your father, f**k your grandfather, f**k your great-grandfather!】

【Are you f**king sick in the head???】

【Just you wait! Ahhhhh!】

Yang Buqi: …

Not only were there words on the paper, but also on the floor and walls, repeating the same one or two swear words over and over, with the most frequently appearing phrase being “Are you f**king sick in the head”.

Just as they pushed the door open to enter, the pen was still frantically writing on the wall, poking so hard that the wall plaster was falling off in bits, showing its force.

Yang Buqi saw the silver paper placed on the table, so he quietly walked over, suddenly clasped his hands together, caught the pen, quickly wrapped it in the silver paper, and added a simple sealing mark.

…But after a while, the seal loosened on its own, and the pen burst out of the silver paper again, continuing to pounce on the wall to write swear words.

Yang Buqi: ……

“This shouldn’t be the case.” He frowned in confusion, then seemed to realize something and turned to look at Xu Turan, “Wait, what did you say you asked it earlier?”

…Actually, I haven’t said it yet.

Xu Turan’s gaze wandered for a moment, trying to speak as casually as possible:

“I asked it how many words it could write in one night at most.”

Yang Buqi: …

Noticing the other’s incredulous look, she hurriedly added: “But I sealed it up right after I asked… I thought it was a math problem.”

And it was a math problem that couldn’t be brushed off with “Little Monkey Search” or “Baidu it”.

The point is that this question sounded like it would make the pen very unhappy. And it indeed made it very unhappy. It added 50 Courting Death Value points.

Yang Buqi: “……”

He turned to look at the frenzied abomination, and at this moment, suddenly understood this Omniscience pen’s feelings very well.

This, if not being sick in the head, then what is?
