The only ones eating relaxed and happily were Pu Han and his “Feifei”. He ate with his left hand, while his right hand kept “playing” by itself on the side. Sometimes she would stand up, using her middle and index fingers as feet to stroll along the edge of the table for a while, sometimes she would pick up chopsticks, alternating between picking up food for Pu Han and for Xu Turan.

She picked up more for Xu Turan. And whether intentional or not, what she picked up happened to be all things Xu Turan liked to eat.

Xu Turan was astounded, once again sighing that her previous self was truly a frog in a well.

This is what you call truly having a condition!

“Alright, I’m full,” Pu Han put down his chopsticks after not eating for long, “I’m going back now, you can finish the rest.”

“Eh?” Xu Turan was a bit surprised, turning her head to look at the order list on the table, “But there are still two dishes that haven’t been served…”

“Those were ordered for you two. They happen to be things you both like to eat.” Pu Han elegantly wiped the corner of his mouth, then carefully cleaned his left hand with a wet wipe before picking up the glove to put on his right hand.

“As for the matter of me and Feifei, I don’t want to reminisce in front of her. If you’re really curious, you can ask Yang Buqi—oh right. Feifei has another message for me to pass on to you.”

He stopped halfway to the door and turned back.

“She says, tomorrow’s moon will be very full, it’s a good day for dreaming. Remember to put your newly bought mirror by your bedside before sleeping—also, your internet cable has been extended enough. That opportunity to freeload, you might want to consider needs in other aspects. Like my boyfriend… ahem, she means me. She forgot we’re already married.”

Pu Han smiled embarrassedly and continued, “Someone like ‘me’ might be useful, you can consider it.”

Xu Turan’s eyes widened slightly, then she seemed to understand something and frowned slightly. Seeing this, Pu Han didn’t say anything more and bid farewell to the two again.

Just as he turned around, that right hand raised up again, over his shoulder, making another heart sign at Xu Turan.

Xu Turan was amused and raised her hand to return one. As she withdrew her gaze, she happened to meet Yang Buqi’s somewhat complex look.

“Are you going on a blind date?” he asked.

Xu Turan was puzzled: “Of course not. What are you thinking?”

“No, because he just… never mind.” Yang Buqi coughed, put down his chopsticks, and his expression suddenly became serious.

“Regarding Feifei’s prophecy, my advice is to listen selectively. She’s a ‘Radiance’ level precognition ability user, the things she foresees are rarely wrong, but on the other hand… as you’ve seen, she’s not a living person now after all, her values have changed somewhat, the choices she makes are unlikely to be wrong, but may not be suitable for humans.”

“Precognition ability user?” Xu Turan put down her chopsticks, “But isn’t she an abomination?”

“Her situation is quite special,” Yang Buqi explained. “I’m not clear on the exact details of how she became like this. But without a doubt, she’s not an abomination… At that time, she was on the brink of falling, and to prevent her from completely turning into a monster, her husband Pu Han performed some operations to halt her transformation process.”

This was quite a bold attempt, both for Pu Han and for humans. And judging from the results, it should be considered successful—part of Feifei’s human consciousness was transferred to her right hand, then grafted onto Pu Han.

In the end, she survived in this way, achieving a miraculous symbiosis with Pu Han, while also preserving her self-awareness and her ability as a high-level precognitive.

She’s not an abomination. She has no desire to kill, no need to eat humans, no inherent malice towards humans—but in her current state, obviously, she can’t be counted among the living either.

“The organization is still researching Feifei’s existence internally,” Yang Buqi said. “The case of her and Pu Han is too difficult to replicate. They were childhood sweethearts, their understanding of each other is unparalleled, and they’re both high-level in their respective fields… But once the research succeeds, it will have enormous value for ability users.”

“Yes,” Xu Turan nodded, “If it were me, I’d definitely be willing to turn into a mouthless hand, growing on someone else’s body.”

This was said with a bit of sarcasm. Yang Buqi glanced at her and sighed: “Given the situation at that time, achieving such an outcome was already not bad. Feifei was a high-level ability user, once she started to fall, even if she died, she would have become a very troublesome abomination… And at that time, all organizations were experiencing huge upheavals, they couldn’t withstand more impacts and sacrifices.”

Xu Turan was pondering the hint that “Feifei” had given her when she heard Yang Buqi say this, and suddenly had a thought.

“The great upheaval you mentioned… was it five years ago?”

Yang Buqi looked at her and asked in return: “Did Su Sui’er tell you?”

“I forgot who said it. I just happened to hear about it,” Xu Turan very loyally didn’t betray Su Sui’er.

…Although she guessed Yang Buqi could probably tell whether it was true or false.

Yang Buqi looked at her amusedly, turned the table surface, and rotated a plate of braised eggplant in front of Xu Turan—he remembered, earlier when Feifei was picking up food for Xu Turan, she loved to pick this the most.

“It’s alright. I guessed she would tell you. There’s nothing to hide about this, anyone who enters the circle will know sooner or later.”

Yang Buqi paused briefly, choosing his words carefully.

“Your guess is correct. And Feifei, in fact, was also one of the victims of that incident five years ago.”

“What exactly was that incident?” Xu Turan asked curiously, not even noticing that she had picked up a clump of air.

“Su Sui’er only told me that this incident was caused by the Ciji Institute, and eventually affected the entire ability user circle.”

“…Her statement, although not pleasant to hear, is indeed correct.” Yang Buqi pressed his lips together, “You should already know that ‘Order’ and ‘Precognition’ are these two tendencies unique to humans, right?”

“Yes.” Xu Turan nodded, “However, now the one playing the biggest role is only Order. ‘Precognition’, for some reason, hasn’t produced any high-level users for a long time.”

“To be precise, there haven’t been any high-level users in the past five years,” Yang Buqi said. “And looking further back, ‘Precognition’ and ‘Order’ were the main research directions of ability users.”

“Among them, the Ciji Institute focused on ‘Precognition’, while the Renxin Institute focused on ‘Order’. At that time, besides these two larger organizations, there were many smaller organizations, each with one or two ‘Radiance’ level ability users serving as leaders.”

“Yes… at that time, the highest level among ability users was only ‘Radiance’ level. People spent a lot of effort and consumed many resources, and finally, five years ago, managed to produce a ‘Star’ level.”

Xu Turan paused: “That ‘Star’ level, came from the Ciji Institute? And was a ‘Precognition’ user?”

Yang Buqi nodded.

Xu Turan: “Then what did he predict?”

“No one knows,” Yang Buqi shook his head. “Because shortly after he completed his upgrade, he betrayed humanity.”

“—And he dragged down a large batch of high-level ability users to perish with him.”
