“Three?” Xu Turan raised her eyebrows. “Shouldn’t it be four?”

One quality with two tendencies, two qualities with four tendencies, how nice and neat that would be.

“No,” Su Sui’er waved her hand. “At most three.”

Xu Turan: “…” How can there not be? I have four.

Of course, she didn’t say that directly, only curiously inquired why there couldn’t be more. This question hit Su Sui’er’s blind spot, and after hemming and hawing for a while without an answer, she could only stuff a piece of candy into Xu Turan’s mouth.

Xu Turan knew when to stop and didn’t pursue the question further. Instead, she asked about how to identify individual qualities and various tendencies. Su Sui’er answered this very clearly:

“Identify? You can’t identify it yourself. You need to find someone with the ‘Omniscience’ ability to observe… High-level Omniscience ability users can identify all qualities and tendencies, but such people are rare… Low-level Omniscience can only identify qualities, and then deduce the corresponding ability tendencies based on the abilities displayed by the quality…”

— The easiest to identify is “Beast”. As long as the quality name is linked to an animal, it’s definitely Beast without a doubt. Plants are also likely to be Beast. For example, Weiwei’s quality is “Dead Leaf Butterfly”, which is clearly a Beast tendency. Another example is Xiao Zhang, although his quality is a plant called “Wild Coral Tree”, it’s actually classified as Beast.

Ability users with Beast tendency often have abilities that lean towards the animal in their name. For example, Weiwei’s mimicry, and Xiao Zhang’s branch growth and flowering. Sometimes they also show talents for communicating with and controlling other species.

This type of ability user is also the most likely to experience physical mutations. Once they enter an out-of-control state, or upgrade to Torch level and above, little ears, tails, and wings might all appear — of course, in reality, it might not be as cute as described.

— The next easiest to identify is “Natural Disaster”. Ability users with Natural Disaster tendency often have the ability to control natural elements. Water, electricity, fire, thunder, they have it all. If trained well, they can control the field, provide support, or be the main damage dealer, equivalent to “elemental mages” in Western fantasy. Moreover, according to current research, this ability tendency is the least likely to lose control, so regardless of which organization, they are all very willing to cultivate ability users with this tendency.

— “Life” and “War”. In a sense, these two ability tendencies are easily confused, and it’s best to have a high-level Omniscience ability user directly identify them.

From the perspective of skill manifestation alone, those who can only deprive life are “War”; those who, in addition to deprivation, also possess abilities such as “mental soothing”, “power bestowal”, and “wound healing” are mostly “Life”.

If we look at the quality names, those related to strong attacks or cold and hot weapons are nine times out of ten “War”; if they have strong incitement or provocation abilities, they generally also count as War.

It’s said that high-level Life can promote reproduction, resurrect the dead, and create something from nothing; while high-level War can stir people’s hearts, turn the tide, and reduce everything to ruins with just words.

When Yang Buqi first entered the field, he was thought to have both “War” and “Life” tendencies. It wasn’t until later when a high-level Omniscience user from Ciji Institute came forward to identify that it was confirmed he actually didn’t have the “War” tendency — although his poison’s damage upper limit was very high, this was two sides of the same coin with his “healing”, still essentially belonging to the Life tendency.

These two tendencies have the greatest impact on ability users’ personalities and way of handling affairs. It’s widely recognized that the “Life” tendency easily produces holy fathers and mothers, while the “War” tendency tends to make people hot-tempered and prone to causing trouble. Some who are heavily influenced even need to take special medication for adjustment.

— “Precognition” and “Omniscience”. These two tendencies are often discussed together, but in reality, their status within various organizations is vastly different.

“Precognition”, as the name suggests, is the ability to glimpse the future. In addition, some people may exhibit abilities like “premonition” and “remote sensing”.

The higher the level of Precognition, the more content can be glimpsed, and the more accurate it becomes. It has been said that after “Precognition” is raised to the highest “Star” level, one can not only predict the future but also manipulate events across time and space — however, due to certain reasons, high-level Precognition ability users haven’t appeared for a long time, so it’s hard to know if this is true.

“Omniscience”, on the other hand, only focuses on things that have already happened.

As long as something has happened, they always have a way to glimpse its traces. Whether it’s the world, time and space, or passersby on the street, in their eyes, everything is like books waiting to be read — the higher their level, the more content they can read, and the more they know.

These two ability tendencies can easily be confused if you only look at the quality name or individual ability manifestations. Yang Buqi has a lot to say about this —

Also when he first entered the field, because of the quality name “Prophet”, he was thought to have the Precognition tendency. Later, because he demonstrated the ability to distinguish truth from falsehood, he was thought to have the “Omniscience” tendency. At that time, there were people who agreed with both views, almost coming to blows. Later, it was only after he quietly worked hard on his own, managing to break through to the “Candle” level of Precognition, surprising (?) everyone, and having a high-level Omniscience user come to identify, that he was finally categorized as having the “Precognition” tendency.

— As for “Long Night” and “Eternal Day”, to distinguish these two requires the intervention of high-level Omniscience. The reason is simple: the external manifestations of these two ability tendencies are really too similar.

Both are abilities related to light, both manifest as being able to control light and darkness, both can influence people’s emotions. They can evoke sadness or force happiness, can make people sleep soundly, or stay energetic all day.

They are as similar as two branches diverging from the same river.

Before the appearance of the only Radiance-level Omniscience user so far, people always thought these two were the same ability tendency. It wasn’t until he “read” the relevant ability users again after upgrading that it was truly confirmed that these are actually two ability tendencies, and moreover, they are opposing tendencies that will never coexist in an ability user.

This pair of tendencies is also currently the most mysterious. From the Lamp level onwards, corresponding ability users tend to show emotional extremes, also belonging to a category that’s easy to lose control, and thus are key targets of attention for various organizations.

— Of course, the most closely watched is still “Chaos”.

“Chaos” is the ability that makes people most vigilant, and also the most common tendency among abominations. Confusing consciousness, subverting rules, creating illusions… even worse, it can quietly interfere with people’s cognition, distorting everything they see and believe.

This tendency is also the easiest to lose control. Upgrading easily leads to loss of control, and executing tasks also easily leads to loss of control — after all, most abominations have the Chaos tendency, which has a greater negative impact on ability users of the same tendency. And once mid to high-level ability users with Chaos tendency lose control, it’s likely to cause a chain reaction of loss of control in the team…

It can be called a team wipe trigger.
