Chapter 32: The Perspective Opened Up

Silence.

Silence flowed through the small office area.

After an unknown amount of time, someone slowly found their voice: “Um… what does ‘warranty’ mean?”

Was she sure she meant to say warranty, not repair?

And how to repair… How to repair? After repairing, what then? Let her continue to abuse them?

“That’s impressive,” someone whispered. “Did she set up a gladiator arena and let these things fight each other?”

“Nonsense,” someone immediately said. “These abominations are evenly matched.”

Could they really fight like this?

With these words, everyone’s curiosity was further ignited. The customer service representative responsible for handling this saw the situation wasn’t right and hurriedly waved their hand: “Stop speculating! Quick, help me think of how to respond!”

If we’re talking about repair, it’s definitely not covered. Let alone whether it can be repaired, there’s no precedent for this. The problem is, this is a hidden big shot that even our own CEO has taken notice of!

If we refuse directly, what if it pisses them off?

“Tell her it’s not covered for repair.”

Just as the customer service rep was at their wits’ end, a somewhat childish voice suddenly came from the side: “It’s not covered for repair. But if she’s willing, we can recycle them.”

“…” The customer service rep was stunned and turned their head to see a little girl with a backpack who had somehow squeezed into the crowd and was looking at the computer screen with great interest.

Others also noticed the girl and hurriedly greeted her: “Little Boss Jiang!”

“Hello, Little Boss Jiang!”

The girl waved her hand dismissively and patted the customer service rep’s shoulder: “What are you waiting for? Reply to her.”

“Ah… oh.” The customer service rep followed the instructions in a daze, but halfway through typing suddenly realized something was off. “But I just told her no returns or exchanges?”

“That’s simple. Just tell her she’s activated our store’s hidden service, the trade-in promotion. If she returns the old items to us, we can sell her new products at a discount. If she needs, this service can continue long-term.”

“…Huh?” The customer service rep was dumbfounded. “We have to give her new ones?”

These were already some of the toughest… no, most durable products in their store, and they’d been abused to this extent. If they exchanged for new ones, wouldn’t that just be giving her a new batch to abuse?

“Silly, that’s exactly what we want her to do,” the little girl adjusted the school badge on her chest. “Let me ask you, generally speaking, why do people buy these abominations?”

“…” The employees fell silent for a moment, exchanging glances. One of them cautiously said, “To use them.”

Girl: “Be more specific?”

“As bait, or… for upgrading.”

“Right, upgrading.” The girl held up one finger. “Without a doubt, customers seeking upgrades are the majority of our client base. So, second question, what do these customers fear most?”

“…Risk,” someone answered. “Failing to upgrade, and instead being affected or losing control.”

“Yes, exactly.” The girl nodded approvingly, flicked her braid, and looked at the computer screen. “Now look at these photos of the abominations again. Do they look like they pose any risk?”

…

They really didn’t.

Finally, someone caught up with the girl’s train of thought: “So, Little Boss Jiang, you mean…”

“These, we’ll buy back as many as she’s willing to sell. Then we’ll resell them at a high price,” the girl said confidently. “We can emphasize their risk-free selling point in the product descriptions. I think we must highlight ‘Professionally Processed by Hidden Big Shot’. It will make it more convincing.”

Employees: “…”

“Oh right, also, ask this sister what type of abomination she needs. I’ll make the call, we’ll give her one for free. Every time she comes to exchange in the future, we’ll give her one for free. Give her as big a discount as possible on purchases.” The girl pointed at the screen and continued, “Grandpa always said it’s important to be kind to others…”

Employees: “……”

Be kind to others. So abominations can be tossed around carelessly, huh.

Having arranged all this, the little girl walked to the side, satisfied, and found an empty desk to put down her backpack.

The others looked over with complex expressions, someone whispered: “Incredible, who would have thought of this approach…”

“I’ve told you before. Perspective. The most important thing in business is perspective — you need to open it up, understand?”

The little girl said nonchalantly as she took out a stack of math workbooks from her backpack and started writing.

Meanwhile, on the other side.

“Free abomination gift with specified ability tendency?” Xu Turan looked at the message from customer service and raised an eyebrow thoughtfully.

Then she glanced at the supernatural items on the table.

She hadn’t expected these things to still have residual value — with the trade-in offer, big discounts, and free gifts, Xu Turan didn’t believe that recycling these wouldn’t benefit them.

But she didn’t intend to look into it too deeply. Firstly, with the trade-in plus big discount, along with the compensation promised by Yang Buqi, she wouldn’t lose out anyway. And these items had indeed been genuinely useful to her. Secondly, her attention had shifted to a new question.

“Ability tendency…” She pondered this term, hesitated for a moment, and instead of directly specifying the gift, she picked a few that looked good from the product photos provided by customer service and purchased them first.

Ability tendency was still a relatively unfamiliar term to her. She felt she needed to understand it better before making a decision.

Of the supernatural items on hand, Xu Turan exchanged all of them with the store except for that damned instant camera — she felt she could still use that one for a couple more days. There was no rush to exchange it until it really ran out of color.

Like last time, it was a cash transaction. Xu Turan packed up the old items and took them out, added some money, and soon brought back a new silver box from the nearby small park. Considering there were other ability users in Plum Blossom Apartment, she didn’t rush to unpack it, just casually stuffed it under the bed, and then pondered how to find someone to inquire about ability tendencies and how to upgrade.

Fortunately, this matter soon showed signs of resolution — over the next two days, Su Sui’er and Weiwei seemed to have some free time and came to play with Xu Turan whenever they had nothing to do. Several times, Yang Buqi came to her door, saw three pairs of women’s shoes at the entrance, and could only turn back reluctantly.

Today they came over again, saying Su Sui’er had bought freshly baked cookies to share. Xu Turan saw through it but didn’t say anything, only casually asked about “ability tendencies” during the chat.

So she immediately received an enthusiastic explanation from Su Sui’er—

“Ability tendency, to put it simply, is like a professional direction. You know how universities have different majors, right? A person can study several majors at the same time. And ‘studying’ in terms of ability tendency is ‘upgrading’…”

As Su Sui’er had mentioned before, currently, ability users have discovered ten types of ability tendencies. Chaos, Order, Beast, Natural Disaster, Life, Precognition, Omniscience, Long Night, Eternal Day, and War. Among these, “Order” and “Precognition” are tendencies unique to humans and won’t appear in abominations.

“Everyone’s quality is unique… at least so far, no duplicates have appeared.”

Su Sui’er said with a serious face: “Each quality will have one or two ability tendencies. Generally, a person will only have one quality, with some individuals having two. At most, one can possess three ability tendencies.”
