“It seems this line of thinking isn’t quite right,” Weiwei spoke straightforwardly, without any disappointed expression on her face, nor any disappointment or blame in her tone, “Let’s go back and regroup. We’ll think of another way together.”

As she spoke, she spread her arms, opening her membrane. After waiting for a while, Xu Turan didn’t move, just slightly furrowed her brows, staring at the half-open door.

“… No,” as if sensing something, she murmured, her expression becoming grave, “Not just one.”

“?” Weiwei didn’t understand, “What?”

“There’s not just one attendant left now, but two,” Xu Turan pressed her lips together, “She still has a child…”

This time Weiwei understood. But not completely.

“You mean the child she’s pregnant with? But aren’t they one entity?”

… Is that so?

Xu Turan stared at the half-open door, for some reason, the sense of crisis in her mind started beeping again.

She remembered the little girl’s diary.

Believers can use ordinary people as food. And believers themselves are also food. So for “it,” eating a believer who has fed is essentially eating multiple portions of food at once. Therefore, it’s not considered wasteful.

Then… would it be the same principle for attendants? Who was feeding earlier? And who is about to feed now?

Just as her thoughts were in a whirl, the half-open bedroom door was suddenly flung open!

No, rather than being opened, it was more like being crashed into — a huge flesh ball burst out of the room with incredible speed, trailing countless thin blood vessels that fluttered chaotically in the air behind it.

The flesh ball was extremely elastic, briefly touching the ground before bouncing three feet high again in an instant. Unfortunately, this ball seemed to have a poor sense of direction — it bounced back and forth in the room several times, but couldn’t find where the door was.

… Luckily it couldn’t find where the door was.

Xu Turan watched in shock as the flesh ball bounced back and forth in the not-so-large room, her gaze quickly falling on the room opposite — she saw “Mom” standing in the doorframe with a cold face, staring intently at the endlessly bouncing flesh ball with a hostile expression.

Her belly had deflated, her overly loose clothes fluttering, making her emaciated body look even more prominent.

“… What on earth is this?” Even the usually calm Weiwei was confused by the current situation, her gaze following the bouncing flesh ball back and forth with a bewildered expression. Xu Turan let out an “Eh” and quickly explained: “What else could it be? It’s the offspring she was keeping as reserve food!”

Those thin blood vessels all belonged to this offspring. The one who actually devoured the brother and sister was probably this offspring too. His mom had painstakingly fed him to grow big, finally fed him to the point where he could be eaten, but unexpectedly the reserve food turned into Nezha and ran away!

What’s worse, she couldn’t chase after him now — the rooms outside had been made freezing cold by Xu Turan, and while the flesh ball didn’t seem to be affected much, his birth mother couldn’t come out.

This won’t do… Xu Turan pressed her lips together, suddenly ran out, heading straight for the flesh ball that was still bouncing around everywhere.

“… Xu Turan!” Weiwei was startled by her action and raised her voice abruptly, “What are you doing!”

“Sending it back!” Xu Turan said without looking back, raising her foot and giving the constantly bouncing flesh ball a kick!

… Maybe it was Weiwei’s imagination, but after being kicked by her, the flesh ball seemed to stop moving.

However, it only stopped for a moment — soon, the flesh ball started rolling around again, bouncing even more erratically than before.

Weiwei watched with a puzzled expression, just as she was pondering how to help, the surrounding walls suddenly began to shake violently. Almost at the same time, the marker she was leaning against started flashing frantically, the door panel with the marker on it shaking incessantly. Amidst the chaos, she heard the calls of others from behind.

“Weiwei!” She turned her head, Teacher Yu was running over urgently, with Yang Buqi from the Ciji Institute beside him, “Quick, come with me!”

“That thing has discovered this space! It’s trying to get in from the outside! The boss and others are still maintaining the markers, but they can’t hold on for long—”

Before Teacher Yu finished speaking, Yang Buqi had already anxiously asked: “Where’s Xu Turan?”

Weiwei: “…”

She paused for a moment, then opened the constantly shaking door panel beside her.

“Playing soccer,” she answered truthfully.

…???

“What the hell? Playing soccer—” Teacher Yu turned his head in confusion, and after seeing the situation in the room outside, his mouth fell open in shock.

She really was playing soccer… but with a big flesh ball.

Teacher Yu was so astonished he could barely speak clearly: “What in the world is this thing?”

Weiwei: “… Nezha, reserve food version.”

Teacher Yu: …

He had no idea what that thing was!

While he was still in shock, Yang Buqi’s face beside him had already turned pale. He immediately started walking towards that room, but after taking just one step, he felt the surroundings shaking even more violently.

“Wait, wait, wait—someone needs to help me stabilize the markers!” Teacher Yu’s voice changed pitch in his urgency, “Yang Buqi! Come back! Weiwei, you come with me to that one over there!”

Now “it” was crashing into this independent space, if it really got in, they’d all be finished. Yang Buqi knew that what they needed most now was to buy time, so he could only grit his teeth, retreat, and press his hand on the nearby marker, while his eyes remained fixed on everything outside the door.

Xu Turan wasn’t completely unaware of what was happening behind her, but at this moment she really couldn’t spare any attention to deal with it—she kept using “Front Kick” on the flesh ball in front of her, feeling more and more depressed with each kick.

It wasn’t that her “Front Kick” wasn’t working. On the contrary, each time it activated perfectly, with the expected stiffening and confusion effects.

The problem was that this ball was already bouncing around chaotically. Even if you made it confused, it would just change direction and continue bouncing around chaotically. It couldn’t bounce back!

It was like using a intelligence-lowering technique on an idiot—they’re already stupid, no matter how much you lower their intelligence, they’re still stupid. Isn’t that just lowering for nothing?

Xu Turan had been harboring some unrealistic hopes, like kicking it directly back into the room, or maybe applying a double negative to make a positive, letting it become confused to the point of returning to a normal level. However, she quickly realized she was overthinking it.

This was just a damn ball. It had the level of a ball.

Xu Turan dejectedly watched the flesh ball bounce away from her face again, catching a glimpse of “Mom’s” hostile gaze from across the room, feeling even more depressed.

Why are you glaring at me? I didn’t give birth to this Nezha!

… Wait, wait a minute.

Nezha?

Xu Turan was a person without much of a childhood, but she had watched a few episodes of Investiture of the Gods—come to think of it, this flesh ball bouncing around really did look like Nezha’s state when he was just born.

Then, how did the plot develop?

It seemed that his own father gave him a sword strike, splitting open the flesh ball, and only then was Nezha truly “born”…

Highlight the key words. Split open with a sword strike.
