Her Talent for Courting Death Has Always Been Impressive - Chapter 30 Part 2
This wasn’t a difficult task for Teacher Yu. However, such an operation would require more energy for the markers. Fortunately, their group had three Lamps and one Torch, so they could just about manage.
As they were talking, that strange stench approached again. Teacher Yu hurriedly closed his mouth, pressing the others to move closer to where the marker was — with the original cold room cut off, that “Mom” indeed no longer hesitated, steadily stepping out of the room, and walking forward along the passage they had carved out, supporting her belly.
She walked past them without a sideways glance, her withered feet leaving black marks on the ground with each step. Due to the cover of the marker, she didn’t discover their presence, but even so, that intense stench so close at hand and the pressure from a higher level made Yang Buqi’s stomach churn.
He used his hand to protect the person next to him, closing his eyes and holding his breath until that stench gradually faded away, then he discreetly let out a sigh of relief.
“Okay, it’s gone past,” he said in a low voice, turning his head to look at the person beside him, “You stay here and don’t move, I’ll go check the markers in other locations…”
The latter half of the sentence got stuck in his throat. He and the boss stared at each other with wide eyes, and it took a while before he found his voice again: “Why is it you? Where’s Xu Turan?”
“I don’t know. I was just pushed over here,” the boss frowned, scanning around, “Where’s Weiwei? Is she invisible? Why can’t I hear her?”
Teacher Yu shook his head in confusion. The boss reached out and felt the air around them, but touched nothing.
“…”
The two men exchanged a glance, their hearts sinking in unison.
At the same time.
Shrinking in the thin membrane spread by Weiwei, Xu Turan observed the slowly advancing figure in front while saying softly:
“Are you sure she can’t hear us talking like this?”
“If she could hear, she would have heard by now,” Weiwei said flatly, “Don’t worry. It’s not that powerful.”
Moreover, this was within the small domain constructed by the ability user, in other words, this was their home turf. Her mimicry ability was somewhat enhanced, and at this distance, it wasn’t so easy to be discovered.
Xu Turan nodded, seeming to understand but not quite. Weiwei glanced at her: “So why are you following it?”
“?” Xu Turan was a bit surprised, “I explained earlier, didn’t I?”
“You spoke too fast and too quietly. I didn’t understand,” Weiwei said slowly, “Say it again.”
In fact, at that time, Xu Turan was afraid of drawing Yang Buqi’s attention, so she spoke almost against her ear in a whisper, speaking so fast it was like chanting a spell. It would have been a miracle if she had understood.
Xu Turan: …
“Simply put, I want to make sure it doesn’t come out after entering the little girl’s room,” she said to Weiwei. “I asked Teacher Yu, and the cut-off space can’t be reassembled, so it’s not realistic to rely on the original cold room to stop it. Coincidentally, I have an item in my hand that might serve the same purpose.”
Of course, the main purpose was still to be able to watch them fight up close, and if necessary, she could add fuel to the fire with the upgraded “Skill Points” — Xu Turan had just read the instructions, and the essence of the upgraded “Skill Points” hadn’t changed much, only the cooldown time of the ability had been reduced from 72 hours to 48 hours, and she could use it right now.
Weiwei nodded thoughtfully: “I see.”
She didn’t ask further about what item Xu Turan was referring to, and just continued to cover for Xu Turan as they moved forward with a calm expression. Xu Turan, however, paused for a few seconds before realizing: “Wait, so you didn’t understand what I said at all earlier, but you still came with me?”
“Mm,” Weiwei nodded, “I only heard you say you needed invisibility. So I said I’d help.”
After all, she was the only one with invisibility ability now. This request from Xu Turan could only be fulfilled by her. Xu Turan also seemed a bit urgent at the time — so she didn’t ask much, just directly deployed her mimicry, wrapped Xu Turan, and left from beside the boss and others.
Xu Turan: …
In a sense, this girl was also quite daring.
As they conversed, they had already followed “Mom” through several rooms. They even saw Su Sui’er and the others along the way — they were obediently hiding near the markers as instructed by Teacher Yu. “Mom” didn’t see them, and they didn’t see Xu Turan and Weiwei following far behind “Mom” either.
Soon, “Mom” arrived at the end of this VIP parent-child passage.
A slightly old bedroom door stood in front of her. She didn’t hesitate, raised a blood vessel to press down on the doorknob, and walked in with a smile.
Monsters can’t close doors. The bedroom door was left half-open. Xu Turan heard a clear call from inside, it was the little girl calling “Mom” — but in the next second, the joyful voice was replaced by a panicked and angry roar.
This was really… quite sinful.
Xu Turan closed her eyes, unsure of what she was feeling. She wondered how Cha Ruoyu would feel if he knew that the “land of immortality” he had paid a heavy price to send his family into had turned his loved ones into such monstrosities.
As if seeing through her thoughts, Weiwei spoke calmly beside her: “Don’t think too much.”
“The part of them that was ‘human’ died the moment they were transformed into attendants. They are just monsters retaining human memories.”
They had come too late; they couldn’t save these people. All they could do was ensure no one else would be harmed afterwards.
Xu Turan let out a breath and nodded slightly. Weiwei led her to a nearby marker and retracted her mimicry membrane: “What do you plan to do next?”
“I have this,” Xu Turan pulled out the last object wrapped in silver paper from her satchel. She unwrapped it in front of Weiwei, revealing a small hand mirror.
“The person who sold this to me said it’s connected to the snow ghost’s habitat, and will unknowingly make the room colder… Although I’ve never experienced it, it shouldn’t be a lie.”
As she spoke, Xu Turan crouched down and pushed the hand mirror along the ground. The mirror slid a distance on the smooth surface, stopping outside the half-open bedroom door.
The mirror seemed to sense something, and even though it had stopped, it turned itself a few times, widening the distance from the door, and then a thin layer of mist appeared on its surface.
“It really got colder,” Weiwei reached out to test and nodded. As a “Dead Leaf Butterfly,” she was very sensitive to temperature changes.
Xu Turan hadn’t actually felt anything yet, and was still a bit worried that this snow ghost hand mirror wouldn’t have much effect. Hearing her say this, she finally felt truly relieved.
“But it seems your thing won’t be of use,” Weiwei changed the subject, her light eyes looking towards the half-open bedroom door, “‘Mom’ is about to win.”
As if echoing her words, the half-open door was suddenly pulled open halfway, and a broken thick blood vessel flew out, landing heavily on the ground, twisting incessantly like a dying loach. Several thin blood vessels emerged and mercilessly pierced into it.
The thick blood vessel on the ground quickly deflated. Inside the room, the screaming girl gradually fell silent — as Weiwei said, the outcome had been decided.
According to Xu Turan’s previous guess, when the attendants devoured each other until only one remained, this “domain” might collapse… However, they waited for a while, and nothing happened.
