Yang Buqi slightly pursed his lips. In fact, he had noticed that pink notebook earlier. The little girl had been using it to keep records, and it was likely to contain some clues that could be helpful to them. Now it seemed that there might be more valuable things in that backpack besides just this…

However, now was definitely not the right time to make a move. He calculated in his mind. This girl, as an attendant, wouldn’t be too different in level from an abomination, and with her immortal body, she was far beyond what the three of them could handle right now. The more stable approach would be to first find a way to regroup with other ability users, then summarize the information and make long-term plans…

In a flash, Yang Buqi had made up his mind. He was about to tell Xu Turan to leave when he suddenly heard her speak:

“Hey, little sister, can I ask you something?”

She waved at the girl, as if she wasn’t the one who had almost been beaten to death with a tube earlier: “Don’t you get bored staying in this room all the time?”

Little girl: ?

The little girl looked over with confusion in her eyes. At the same time, puzzled gazes from Yang Buqi and Su Sui’er also fell on Xu Turan—she pretended not to see them and continued asking: “It’s so big outside, don’t you go out to play?”

“…” The little girl shook her head in bewilderment, her voice floating, “Can’t leave. Father would be unhappy if I left, so I can’t leave.”

—Truth.

Yang Buqi made this assessment in his heart, catching a glimpse of Xu Turan nodding thoughtfully from the corner of his eye. For some reason, a sense of foreboding suddenly welled up in his heart.

The next second, he heard Xu Turan let out an “Oh” of sudden realization, then abruptly turned around and pushed Yang Buqi hard with both hands—

Yang Buqi was completely unprepared and was pushed out just like that. Immediately after, there was a loud “bang” as the door was forcefully closed.

…

Yang Buqi turned back in shock, and Su Sui’er, who was inspecting the surroundings, also had a look of disbelief on her face. They both stared at the tightly closed door, instinctively about to open it—

Before they could act, the door opened again from the inside.

Xu Turan was seen rushing out from inside, hugging a bundle of something.

Seeing the two outside, she was stunned for a moment, then immediately said: “Don’t look anymore, run quickly—”

As she spoke, she darted past the two and rushed out.

Four thick blood vessels followed closely behind, whipping out of the door, full of anger as they chased after her.

Yang Buqi: …

Wait, what’s going on? He felt like he had only looked away for a second, right? How exactly…

He and Su Sui’er hurriedly stepped aside to dodge, and he suddenly realized.

“Damn! That backpack!”

He remembered now, what Xu Turan was hugging just now was that backpack!

Did she actually just snatch it? Isn’t that a bit too bold?!

Yang Buqi’s mind raced, and without a word, he raised his palm and slapped the flashing green light onto a blood vessel that brushed past him. The latter twisted in pain, and Yang Buqi immediately seized the opportunity to add two more hits, then turned and chased after Xu Turan without looking back.

To be fair, Xu Turan was running quite fast. Even with a shoulder bag, a large backpack, and a small backpack on her, she was still running like the wind. However, those blood vessels were curved and flexible, extremely difficult to shake off; they seemed to be fixated on her, completely ignoring Yang Buqi and Su Sui’er who were falling behind, focused solely on chasing Xu Turan. Even though Su Sui’er shot several red lights at the blood vessels, it was hard to attract their attention.

To make matters worse, the space they were in now was particularly large—for some reason, the room outside hadn’t changed this time, it was still connected to that spacious first-floor hall. It took at least a hundred steps to run from one door to another, and the floor was all marble, which was extremely slippery—

Xu Turan’s foot slipped, and to avoid falling, she had to forcefully slow down. In that split second of distraction, one blood vessel had already rushed to Xu Turan’s back, its thick head raised high, the top opening like an insect’s mouthparts, about to bite down.

At this moment, both Yang Buqi and Su Sui’er were still several steps away from Xu Turan, unable to rescue her in time. Under their terrified gazes, Xu Turan was seen turning around, her leg flying up in one smooth motion, straight from bottom to top, suddenly flicking out, her toe directly hitting the blood vessel.

… Luckily I can reattach broken legs!

This was Yang Buqi’s first reaction.

And his second reaction was—Eh??

He fell into confusion.

Because the moment Xu Turan kicked the blood vessel, it suddenly stopped moving.

It seemed to freeze entirely, remaining still for a second before suddenly turning its head and biting the second blood vessel that was fiercely attacking.

Yang Buqi: “…”

This… although he couldn’t understand it, looking on the bright side, at least he didn’t have to reattach anyone’s leg.

In a flash, he had rushed to Xu Turan’s side—that fellow actually had the mood to stand there and watch the blood vessels fight!

Xu Turan stared at the blood vessels in front of her, inwardly marveling that she had finally found the correct way to “Front Kick”; before she could marvel for even a second, Yang Buqi grabbed her collar with one hand and directly dragged her into the next room.

Su Sui’er covered their retreat, her five fingers consecutively firing seven or eight red lights, actually forcing the blood vessels behind them to retreat a few steps before she closely followed the other two, slipping into the new room.

The door was slammed shut, but the three didn’t dare to stop. They moved through two more rooms consecutively until they could no longer hear the sound of blood vessels hitting the door. Only then did they truly relax.

The next second, the three looked at each other and simultaneously spoke:

“We’ve shaken her off, right?”

“Why didn’t that room change just now?”

“Good heavens! What did you do to make her chase you like that?”

Three people, three questions. After a brief silence, Xu Turan was the first to answer the last question from Su Sui’er.

“This thing,” she held up the small backpack she was hugging, “I thought it would be useful. So I took it.”

Took… she said took.

Yang Buqi took a deep breath, deciding not to quibble over her choice of words.

Su Sui’er widened her eyes in surprise, took the backpack and started rummaging through it. After just a couple of glances, her expression became serious.

“No wonder you asked her earlier if she could leave the room…” She finally reacted, once again uttering that exclamation, “Holy shit, that’s awesome.”

“It was a bit unexpected though,” Xu Turan panted heavily, “I didn’t think her tube would be that long.”

She also didn’t expect Yang Buqi and Su Sui’er to escape with her… She had thought that after she closed the door, the room outside would be replaced. That way, she wouldn’t have dragged the two of them down with her.

She had planned to find an opportunity to regroup with the two and share information after escaping.

Yang Buqi didn’t know her plan, and upon hearing her words, he patted her shoulder reassuringly.

“At least we managed to escape,” he sat down leaning against the wall, “But how did you know she was telling the truth at that time?”

Xu Turan was reaching for the backpack when she heard this and asked in return: “What truth?”

“When she said she couldn’t leave the room…” Yang Buqi’s words trailed off as he suddenly realized.

… Wait, so you didn’t even consider whether it was true or false, you just went ahead and snatched it?

Yang Buqi was dumbfounded.

Good heavens, how has such a reckless child managed to survive this long?
