“Does that mean his wife and child are likely to be in this domain?”

“…” Su Sui’er’s mouth opened slightly, and after a moment, she showed a look of sudden realization, “I remember that man also mentioned in his suicide note something about making his family immortal…”

“He said he sent them across death,” Xu Turan frowned, “But people who enter this domain can still die, right?”

Even if they turn into monsters, they can still be killed by people. If this counts as immortality, isn’t the water content of this “immortality” a bit too high?

Either that, or he was fooled by that mysterious entity.

“…No, not necessarily,” Su Sui’er shook her head thoughtfully, “Abominations don’t deceive their believers — they only fulfill their promises in distorted ways.”

As if something flashed through her mind, she exchanged a glance with Xu Turan, and they both spoke at the same time: “Attendants!”

“This makes sense. Cha Ruoyu completed the ritual, and transformed his wife and child into attendants, sending them into the domain, thus achieving ‘immortality’. He himself also became an attendant, but for some reason, couldn’t enter — and those attendants are likely to be the foundation of this domain!”

Su Sui’er connected everything, and couldn’t help but heavily pat Xu Turan’s shoulder: “Not bad, newcomer! You have potential!”

Xu Turan smiled cooperatively, timely raising the next question: “But I heard Yang Buqi say that attendants can’t die?”

“Not being able to die doesn’t mean they don’t have weaknesses. At least we have a direction now, it’s better than groping in the dark,” Su Sui’er let out a heavy breath, looking much more spirited, “Next is to figure out how to pass this information out… preferably through some method that can avoid ‘it’ and other monsters…”

Xu Turan remembered the box of business cards she was carrying and was about to speak, but Su Sui’er had already casually opened the door to the next room.

Xu Turan’s voice was instantly choked.

There’s a big one — the sense of crisis in her body suddenly went crazy. She tentatively walked into the room, looked around, and finally her gaze fell on another door far across the room.

Where they were now, rather than calling it a room, it was more like the lobby of an office building. It was extremely spacious at first glance, and as soon as they stepped in, they felt a chilling coldness.

Su Sui’er cursed, took out a piece of clothing to wrap around herself, and was about to look around when she caught sight of Xu Turan quickly walking towards another door on the side of the lobby.

“Hey?” Su Sui’er hurriedly called out to her, “Don’t run around!”

“Mm, I’m just looking around—” Xu Turan said casually, and while Su Sui’er wasn’t paying attention, her fingers had already pressed on the doorknob of that door.

The sense of crisis inside her body screamed louder, and she no longer hesitated, forcefully turning the doorknob and pushing the door inward—

The door opened with the momentum.

She quickly glanced inside, drew a sharp breath, and suddenly closed the door again.

“What’s wrong?” Noticing the situation on her side, Su Sui’er quickly walked over, “Is there something eye-searing inside?”

Xu Turan: “…It’s not as bad as eye-searing.”

Su Sui’er: ?

“I think I saw a familiar face…” Xu Turan said uncertainly, paused for a moment, then carefully pushed the door open again.

Behind the door was a small bedroom.

The bedroom was furnished with bunk beds, and the walls were covered with colorful stickers and anime posters. Opposite the bed, two desks were placed sideways, and a figure was sitting at one of them.

Xu Turan stared at the person for a moment, then another. She finally confirmed that she wasn’t seeing things.

“Yang Buqi?” Before she could speak, Su Sui’er had already exclaimed in surprise, “How are you here?”

Yang Buqi didn’t answer their question.

He just sat at the desk, head down, writing something seriously. Xu Turan specifically looked at what was placed in front of him, it seemed to be a Xinhua Dictionary.

The size of the desk was very small, looking like it was meant for elementary school students. Yang Buqi, a tall and big man sitting there, looked indescribably awkward and eerie. Xu Turan observed more carefully and found that his eyes seemed to be twitching a bit.

Su Sui’er sensed something was wrong and started to push Xu Turan out. Instead, Xu Turan patted her shoulder.

“I opened the door, where else can I go besides this room? Relax, we’re already here.”

With that, she directly and openly stepped in.

Courting Death Value increased by 50, perfect.

Su Sui’er firmly held the doorknob, not letting her close the door, and glanced inside again, clicking her tongue heavily.

“I wish I had opened this door,” she muttered worriedly, and followed inside.

As soon as they entered, they heard Yang Buqi’s helpless voice: “Wasn’t I winking at you? Why did you still come in?”

“I thought your eye was twitching,” Xu Turan said sincerely, “You can talk now?”

“Just can’t talk to people outside,” Yang Buqi pressed his lips, his hand still writing without pause, “Can you still get out from that side?”

This room only had one door, with no other exit. Su Sui’er closed the door behind her and opened it again, only to see a black wall behind the door.

Yang Buqi closed his eyes restrainedly, forced to accept the fact that two more “Gourd Babies” had arrived.

By now, Xu Turan was already wandering around the room. She noticed a stack of papers on the desk next to Yang Buqi, picked them up and flipped through them—they were all essays.

The essay topic was “My Great Father”. The handwriting of each essay was different, with the only similarity being that they were all written in red pen, and the handwriting became increasingly messy towards the end.

“What are these things?” Su Sui’er briefly flipped through them, suddenly changed her expression, threw all the essay papers on the ground, and turned to cover Xu Turan’s eyes.

“Don’t look! These are not things to be seen!”

Xu Turan: …

But I’ve already seen them, and didn’t get any Courting Death Value.

As Xu Turan was wondering, a faint sound suddenly came from behind.

“Hello, big sisters.” A childish voice sounded behind her. Xu Turan turned alertly and saw a girl climbing down from the top bunk of the double bed.

“Are you here to write essays too?”

Xu Turan: …?

“You mean that kind of essay?” Su Sui’er spoke vigilantly, “No, we won’t write that kind of thing!”

“What kind of thing? Qianqian doesn’t understand.” The girl tilted her head innocently, climbing down from the bed—but not using her hands and feet, but giant blood vessels.

Wrist-thick blood vessels extended from her slender body, four in total, like spider legs, gently lifting her body and then nimbly lowering it.

She crawled on the ground with those blood vessels, her body lifted higher than Xu Turan.

“Qianqian is just collecting essays, everyone who comes in has to submit an essay. Only those who write well can leave. That’s what Father said.”

“‘My Great Father’?” Xu Turan curiously spoke up, “Are you referring to your biological father who killed a bunch of people and is now running around aimlessly like a headless fly every day?”

Yang Buqi, who was still lowering his head and copying: …

His hand unsteadied, and the red pen drew a heavy line on the paper.

Please shut up.

Hearing this, the little girl’s expression visibly stiffened, her gaze towards Xu Turan carrying a hint of ferocity, but her face still wore a sweet smile.

“Of course not, he’s not Qianqian’s father. Qianqian’s father is greater, more mysterious, more worthy of praise—”

Her expression took on a hint of fanaticism and obsession, shaking up a blood vessel to pick up the essay papers from the ground:

“Come, all of you look. You have to write too — after you finish writing, you’ll know how great an existence it is.”

Xu Turan: …

Wait, what does this mean? She acknowledged some random guy as her father, and now wants others to do the same?

At this moment, she actually felt a bit sorry for Cha Ruoyu, who was always wandering in the corridor.

As for how she could be certain that the girl was Cha Ruoyu’s child, the reason was simple — that kind of “come on, hit me, if you can beat me I’ll take your surname” overbearing aura was exactly the same as her biological father.

Moreover, the door they came in through was identical to the door of the second bedroom in apartment 1501. Add to that the double bed configuration, it was easy to pinpoint her identity.
