Her Talent for Courting Death Has Always Been Impressive - Chapter 24 Part 3
Xu Turan stared at the paper ball in her hand for a while, and finally thought it through—forget it, whatever, anyway, she got her Courting Death Value, why think so much.
Moreover, as a person, one should seek common ground while reserving differences—since the contradictory parts can’t be explained, then let’s look at the non-contradictory parts.
Both versions emphasized not entering new rooms casually, so Xu Turan entered new rooms very casually, only roughly checking the current living room before directly opening the door to the next room.
As the door opened, another wave of blood smell hit her face.
The difference was that this time, there was a person in the room.
A girl who looked about 20 years old was rummaging through a cabinet for something, and when she heard the noise, she was obviously startled, almost falling backwards, only relaxing slightly after seeing Xu Turan’s face.
“Are you… are you human?” she asked cautiously, taking two steps back.
Xu Turan: “…” What kind of question is that, can I say I’m not human?
She took a deep look at the girl in front of her, pondered briefly, and nodded. The latter stared at Xu Turan for a while before saying softly, “Then, then come in.”
As she spoke, she took two more steps back.
Xu Turan responded and was about to step in when she seemed to think of something and paused.
“Excuse me, wait a moment.” She said, went back to the previous living room, fiddled around for a while, and came out.
She had a mask on her face now, and there were several more in her bag. The girl looked at her appearance and asked confusedly, “Why are you wearing this?”
“Because the smell here is very strong,” Xu Turan said with a straight face. “There’s a rotting smell in this room, didn’t you smell it?”
Hearing this, the girl’s face changed slightly, unconsciously pressing her chest, then shook her head: “Maybe I’m used to it, I can’t smell it much anymore.”
“Used to it?” Xu Turan noticed her choice of words.
“Mm… mm. This place has many rooms, all with dead people, or dead pets or something…” The girl’s gaze wandered for a moment, “Are you new here?”
Xu Turan: “How do you know?”
“People here generally don’t like to interact with others, it’s risky.” The girl pursed her lips, her gaze falling on the apples in Xu Turan’s bag, then quickly drifted away, “If… if you’re willing, I can tell you about it. Otherwise, if you’re alone and don’t know anything, it’s easy to get into trouble.”
“Really? Thank you so much!” Xu Turan said in a tone of immense gratitude, “I don’t know what’s going on at all, I just came to this place as soon as I entered the door. I’ve been wandering alone for a long time, it’s terrifying…”
“It’s like that for everyone when they first arrive.” The girl lowered her eyes, standing up empty-handed from in front of the cabinet, “Have you also been to Plum Blossom Apartments?”
“Mm. I heard it was haunted and wanted to explore…” Xu Turan casually moved behind the girl, “Is this place related to that?”
“I’m not sure. But before I came here, I also went there…” The girl said calmly, lowering her eyes to look at her chest. In a place Xu Turan couldn’t see, it was strangely swelling—a red, giant blood vessel-like thing was silently growing out, slowly emerging from her collar.
The next second, there was a “pat” sound—
A huge force fell on her back, and the girl stumbled forward unsteadily.
The giant blood vessel that had just emerged slightly immediately retracted, and the girl’s face directly hit the cabinet, making a crisp sound.
Girl: “…”
What’s going on?!
She was stunned for only a moment before quickly realizing—she had been pushed down by someone!
There were only two people in the room, and the only one who could push her was Xu Turan. She thought Xu Turan had noticed something was wrong and wanted to push her away to escape, and a fierce light immediately appeared on her face. She was about to turn around and lash out when she saw Xu Turan rushing over with “ei ei” sounds.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I really didn’t mean to!” Xu Turan hurriedly helped her up, repeatedly apologizing, “I just saw blood on the ground and got nervous, so I accidentally bumped into you… I’m really sorry, are you okay?”
Girl: “…”
She touched her nose that was aching to the point of sourness, and asked in disbelief: “Accidentally?”
“I tend to jump around when I get excited. It definitely wasn’t on purpose.” Xu Turan swore solemnly, her eyebrows visible above the mask furrowed tightly, with a tentative look of fear, “Um, I’ve apologized, you won’t be angry, right? You won’t abandon me, right? I just got here, I don’t know anything, I’m so scared…”
Girl: “…”
Tea-flavored food is good, tea-flavored food is wonderful, freshens breath, stimulates the mind—she silently told herself, forcibly suppressing the urge to press the other’s face to the ground.
Seeing this fellow in front of her being so foolish and only knowing how to apologize, without any intention of escaping, she reluctantly believed Xu Turan’s words—but she didn’t dare let Xu Turan stand behind her anymore.
Xu Turan was very obedient, dutifully standing at her side. The girl half turned her body, continuing to pretend to rummage through the cabinet, with signs of something writhing again at her chest.
“By the way, sister,” she heard Xu Turan’s curious voice from beside her, “you said earlier that people here don’t interact with others, why?”
“…Because you can’t be sure if who you meet is actually human,” the girl paused her movement and calmly replied. Her tone was gentle, but her downcast eyes were filled with coldness.
“Here, some people become food for monsters, while others slowly become monsters themselves, turning to feed on other people. But these people are very difficult to identify from their appearance.”
She turned her face slightly, a layer of coldness covering her delicate features—as she turned her head, that giant blood vessel-like thing also extended slightly, like a snake preparing to hunt, poised and ready.
“You should remember next time to stay away from such people—of course, that’s assuming you’ll have a next… Ah!”
Before the girl could finish speaking, there was suddenly a “bang” sound, and the cabinet beside her toppled over completely. She was stunned for a moment, standing dumbfounded, then saw Xu Turan screaming and jumping towards her—
And then, she was kicked again.
A flying kick, right on the leg bone. The pain was excruciating.
The girl let out a wail and fell to the ground. Xu Turan maintained her side-kick posture for a moment, then rushed over as if just waking from a dream.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, miss, I didn’t mean to! The cabinet suddenly fell over just now, and I got scared… When I’m nervous, I tend to flail my arms and legs…”
Xu Turan’s voice sounded muffled behind the mask.
Girl: “…” Get lost, who the hell flails their arms and legs into a side kick?
“I learned Brazilian war dance,” Xu Turan tried hard to cover for her actions.
Girl: “…” War dance my ass!
Xu Turan’s kick had landed directly on the front of her shin bone. It wasn’t terribly brutal, but it was truly painful. The girl was genuinely confused, even suspecting for a moment if this girl in front of her was deliberately messing with her—yet her apology seemed quite sincere, and although most of her face was covered, from her voice, it seemed like she was about to cry.
