Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

The method for expanding the Sword Fangs Legion is something I constantly think about. I glance at Swiberry, who stands behind Jilboa, and say, “You should get married.”

The look of astonishment on Swiberry’s face is quite something to see.

◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇

The Sword Fangs Legion is excessively popular in the city. The original plan is to solidify the battalion’s position and, if there are requests from other cities, to go out and clear monsters, focusing primarily on expeditions. However, the grand parades organized by Jilboa, the leader of the Sword Fangs Legion, have become a fixture of the city’s entertainment. It wouldn’t be wise to sever the connections with merchants and the newly established aristocracy.

Therefore, the Sword Fangs Legion should be functionally divided into two groups: one based in the city and one focusing on expeditions. Jilboa would naturally lead the expedition-focused group, driven by his desire to fight strong enemies.

So, what about the group based in the city? Their motivation should be the sense of protecting their city.

“So that’s why we need to get married?” Jilboa asks with amusement.

“Yes. Besides, there are likely members of the battalion who have formed close relationships with city girls, right? Even you, as the leader, must have received marriage proposals from influential figures in the city. Isn’t that right?”

“You’re right. But…”

“Right, you still want to rise higher, don’t you?”

Jilboa smiles and nods.

“Those who can follow you should do so. However, everyone’s ambitions and desires for advancement vary. I’m sure some think that being asked by a town girl to become the husband of a merchant or blacksmith isn’t such a bad path.”

Generally, adventurers are viewed as mysterious outsiders by city folk. They are seen as rough individuals who hunt fearsome monsters and wield bloodstained weapons, with unknown origins. They loiter around the poorly secured guilds in the lower city districts and live a shabby life in lodgings outside the city. From a modern perspective, they might be compared to militia members living in slum areas.

Parents with marriageable daughters are strict, ensuring they never go near these adventurers. The income is not very high relative to the danger. If a daughter were to bring home an adventurer as a suitor, they would likely be dismissed and chased away. This is the typical mindset of the townspeople.

However, for a top-tier clan like the Sword Fangs Legion, the evaluation is reversed. Members of this elite group possess hero-like abilities, wear equipment blessed with excellent magic, and exhibit a robust physique and polished demeanor that ordinary citizens cannot match. They also earn a substantial income, receiving salaries in silver coins and various gifts from wealthy merchants and nobles. In this case, having an unknown background is not a drawback. In fact, from the perspective of ordinary citizens, not having noble origins can make it easier to accept them as sons-in-law.

The once scary impression they had transforms into a sense of reliability when seen as heroes protecting the city. To put it simply, the members of the Sword Fangs Legion are at the peak of their attractiveness right now.

“There are more and more people who want to get married and stay in the city, aren’t there?” I ask Jilboa.

Jilboa glances behind him, and Swiberry straightens up and answers, “I’m sorry, Commander. It’s my lack of training.”

“In other words, it would be better to form a separate group for those who want to get married and stay in the city. Considering the future, it’s even more important. Swiberry would be a suitable leader for the group that stays in the city. So, you should get married.”

After finishing my sentence, I take a sip of tea poured by a city girl who seems eager for my response and take a breath.

In a few days, I expect Swiberry to be inundated with marriage proposals from the city’s citizens.
