- Chapter 86 - The Sense of Advertising and Promotion
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
For now, I decide to test Anne’s abilities. There might be risks, but the potential rewards could be significant.
First, I explain the business plan I have in mind. Since Anne seems unable to assess the performance of the shoes, which are neither for adventurers nor city merchants, I have Kiriku from the Sword Fangs Legion give an exaggerated explanation. Anne appears somewhat convinced.
“So, I want to make a big push to sell these shoes. What do you think I should do?” I ask.
“So, what is this, a test? Who’s going to buy those shoes? And you must have some ideas yourself, right? First, tell me about those,” Anne demands, focusing on customer target information and asking me to share information.
I see; she’s not lacking in intelligence. Good discussions require information.
Though this is a recruitment test, I also want to have a good discussion. I tell Anne that I’m planning a lottery for adventurers.
In response, she starts yelling abuse at me.
“Hah? Are you stupid? You have something that can be sold for a high price, and you’re giving it away at a low price? Business is about selling at a high price to rich people who will pay for it!”
Her words are harsh, but she is likely emphasizing the importance of protecting the brand with a high-price, high-value approach. Well, I had considered that too, which is why I was offering it to the Sword Fangs Legion first.
I acknowledge that Anne realizes this. However, what is needed is how to implement it. Detailed ideas are necessary.
“Then, how would you sell it?” I ask.
Anne answers immediately. “If it were me, I’d compose and dedicate songs about travel and adventure. The Sword Fangs Legion is holding a triumphal ceremony, right? I’d show up with the shoes as a beautiful woman like myself. Naturally, the orchestra would be with me. Music is essential. It might be good to hold it in the evening, with a bonfire to create a mysterious atmosphere. The leader of the Corps would present the shoes, declaring, ‘We shall not stop our march! Heroes, carve out the world of man to the ends of the earth!’ And then the warriors would chant together, ‘We shall not stop our march! To the ends of the earth!’ Finally, the warrior who earned the highest honor in battle would receive the shoes from the beautiful woman.”
I think it’s a commercial concept. Nowadays, the triumphal ceremonies of the Sword Fangs Legion are a form of entertainment for many citizens, much like the most popular evening TV shows in the previous world. We would insert a commercial as content into this event. Moreover, the idea is to conduct a grand and musical ceremony where shoes for heroes are presented using a beautiful woman to add a divine touch. It’s a very theatrical concept.
It certainly seems like it would be well-received. It’s several times better than my cheap lottery idea. It would become the talk of the town.
Most importantly, it’s flashy. The Sword Fangs Legion and Jilboa, despite their appearances, love flashy things, so this idea will definitely be a hit.
“What’s next?” I ask, trying to continue the discussion.
“That’ll cost you,” she replies, tilting her chin and refusing.
It becomes clear through our conversation that Anne has a sense of theatrical direction and a talent for advertising. I’m convinced that she’s the one who directed the promotion for the Sword Fangs Legion.
There’s a risk in taking her into our inner circle, but if we hire her temporarily and keep her out of the public eye, we can minimize the risk.
I decided to hire Anne.
“Alright. I’ll hire you. First, give me information about the fat noble you exposed as bald. If we can handle it on our end, we will.”
I’ve decided to hire her, but I want to avoid as many risks as possible.
The leading actress of The Flapping Butterfly smiles faintly at my response.
