Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 80
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
There are countless decisions to make before launching a campaign.
First, the team name. “Adventurer’s Shoe Manufacturing and Sales Team” sounds too chaotic. We need to present it as a company, the world’s first joint-stock company. Initially, shares are limited to 1,000 pairs of shoes given as stock-in-kind, but eventually, the actual business will align with this.
Since “The Company” sounds embarrassingly like a CIA organization, we’ll base the name on the product. We need to decide on the product name. Consulting with the Sword Fangs Legion, who will wear the shoes during promotions, might be best. Adventurers tend to resist suggestions from others but are likely to promote names they choose themselves, even to the death. If they select the name, they’ll likely spread it enthusiastically without needing further encouragement.
Next, we need to form a team and assign specific roles. In the modern world, the first step would be to appoint a brand manager for the shoes. Since there’s no one else, I’ll take on that role myself. I’ll have Sara act as my assistant and handle public affairs. I want her to observe and learn on the job, as there could be personal danger if she doesn’t work closely with me.
For the technical role, I want to recruit a skilled person from the Leather District, specifically someone who was in charge of the heels and soles. We can use the Sword Fangs Legion’s military force for intimidation if necessary, but I want to reserve that as a last resort.
I’ll handle manufacturing for now, as there’s no one else. I plan to visit the shoe shops in the 3rd district and hire those who seem to be struggling.
For repairs, I’d like to manage them internally for a while. Information on where the shoes wear out or get damaged is crucial for product improvements.
For public relations, I want to find someone who managed the Sword Fangs Legion’s performances. Although I haven’t seen them directly, there must be someone who did an exceptional job. Hiring them full-time may be impossible, but I’d like to bring them on board temporarily.
With this, most roles should be covered. In reality, I’ll likely be handling everything myself. As for reporting to Jilboa and Gooljin, I’ve abandoned the idea of holding regular board meetings at this stage.
It is clear that if I suddenly announce the event in a grand manner to those unfamiliar with the concept, they will prioritize their current tasks. Gooljin and similar individuals will likely skip the meeting out of inconvenience.
Even Jilboa isn’t available to help promote the company due to numerous expeditions and urgent requests. Regular meetings are not practical. Instead of holding ineffective meetings that become mere formalities, it is better for me to make frequent visits since we are in the same city.
Right now, I need to understand what is happening and what needs to be done. In a world where people cannot read and communication methods are limited, relying on personal interactions is the most efficient way to gather and convey information. By visiting directly, I can also maintain their dignity. My pride is irrelevant to the success of the project.
This is a tactic I often use in the modern world as well: changing people and organizations frequently requires information from third parties. People tend to ignore what an insider says but are often influenced by information from outside sources. To impact the Sword Fangs Legion, I need to pass information through adventurers. To influence city merchants, I should spread information among merchants from other cities.
I want to launch a campaign that excites everyone. It is inevitable that the shoes must initially be high-priced. Since I hold the manufacturing rights, I will eventually lower the costs, but that is not feasible at the moment. I cannot produce products for novice adventurers yet. However, I want to give novice adventurers hope that someday they too can wear these shoes.
Once I’ve considered this, several ideas come to mind. I might consult Sara, who understands the feelings of novice adventurers well. To develop a team, I must start by changing myself and my surroundings. I cannot continue to handle everything on my own.
