Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

In the leader’s office of the Sword Fangs Legion in the second district, a meeting involving three men was taking place.

One was Jilboa, the legendary leader of a top-tier clan who had forged the strongest clan.

Another was Gooljin, the leader of a major inter-city trading caravan, who had built his wealth from a single wagon.

The last was me, Kenji, a former adventurer with no notable titles.

Among us, I was the only one whose title was as light as the weight of mere paper.

But still, for the success of the business and the safety of my life, I had to take charge of the meeting. Those who have nothing must always display reckless courage to get anything.

“I’m thinking of dividing the shoe rights here,” I began candidly. There was no point in discussing the significance or plans of the business with these people. What was needed were conclusions and results. In other words, do this and you’ll gain benefits.

“There are two expected roles: safeguarding the safety of the business and protecting its profits. If you do that, everyone will benefit.”

I made eye contact with the two men. I aimed to provide the strongest gaze I could, but it apparently lacked the necessary impact, as they encouraged me to continue with a disinterested expression.

“First, we’ll supply the Sword Fangs Legion with 100 pairs of special shoes. I want everyone to wear those shoes and perform the usual street parades in a grand manner.”

Jilboa nodded.

“Next, we will hold off on further sales until the reputation is sufficiently established. During that time, we will produce the shoes in bulk here. From the produced stock, we’ll supply the quantity Gooljin can handle.”

Gooljin nodded.

“The remaining sales rights will be managed by me. However, the profits will be shared with both of you. If we encounter any interference in sales in this city, we will keep the inventory as a reserve and wait for the next opportunity for Gooljin to handle it.”

It seemed that both men had reservations about this.

Jilboa spoke up. “How will the profits be divided?”

Gooljin also says. “Who will verify that the ledger you keep is accurate?”

I take out some shoe-shaped jewelry from my pocket and speak.

I took out a few pieces of jewelry shaped like shoes from my pocket and continued.
“We will become a team. To protect the safety and profits of the business, there must be no mistrust within the team. Therefore, I propose setting some rules—rules to ensure mutual trust and fair distribution of profits. Do you have any objections to establishing these rules?”

If any of them are stupid enough to say, “I don’t need any rules! Give me everything!!” then the team will be disbanded on the spot. I’d have to dodge the clutches of those seeking vested interests and establish a new team.

Luckily, neither Jilboa nor Gooljin are short-sighted idiots. They were cautious and shrewd, but at least they had the common sense to not consume the goose before fattening it.

Now, the crucial moment has arrived.

I licked my dry lips lightly from talking too much.
