- Chapter 402 - Creating a Partnership Service Menu
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Reading the shoe repair records, I realized the damage types and repair needs varied too much to teach them all in a single course.
“A shoe repair course, huh…Gorgoro, could you teach that?”
“No way. You want me to talk like you? That’s not happening.”
We initially thought about running repair training, but Gorgoro flat-out rejected the idea. I couldn’t blame him.
“Besides, these are experienced craftsmen with their own workshops. They wouldn’t appreciate being taught the basics.”
“True. Many are more skilled than us in certain areas.”
Maybe we should drop the idea of teaching entirely.
“In that case, let’s flip it. Let’s have them teach us.”
“You want to learn?” Gorgoro tilted his head.

After that, Gorgoro and I visited several shoe workshop masters.
We had to explain the partnership proposal—and since repairing adventurers’ shoes had already become common practice at these workshops, we also used that as an excuse to assess the situation.
The workshops, either wary of my position as a Governor or respectful of the Sword Fangs Legion, allowed us in without fuss.
Once inside, Gorgoro asked about damage types, repair challenges, and necessary materials.
I asked about the volume of repairs and pricing—how much they had to charge to make a profit.
The workshop masters were first surprised, then flustered.
To them, we were high-status outsiders: Gorgoro, the owner of a major workshop, and me, a Governor backed by the church.
They expected orders, not curiosity.
But instead, we asked about things like how many copper coins were needed to patch a sole, or what kind of needle worked best for thick leather. We even understood the technical details.
“If they’re thinking about things that seriously… maybe we can work together.” One master muttered in awe after we left.

After each visit, Gorgoro and I discussed our impressions.
“That visit was useful.”
“Yes. The needles they use are shaped well. That keeps seams tight when sewing multiple layers of leather.”
“The glue quality was poor. We should provide our own.”
“They were short on materials too. Lizard leather is expensive, so I guess they only stock a bit for the toe area. On the other hand, their shoelaces were excellent—must have a good supplier.”
“That’s another thing we can provide. From your point of view, how skilled was that workshop?”
“Hmm… For Guardian Shoe repairs, they’re more than capable. I’d give them 4 out of 5.”
“Four, huh… Alright, I want to visit six more shops.”
“Oh dear, that’s a lot.”
I kept taking notes as we toured several more workshops in the third-class districts.
Being a Governor had its perks—it let me move freely and talk to people.
By the end, we’d gathered all the information we needed—materials, tools, pricing—for Guardian Shoes repairs.
And what we learned became the foundation for the service package we would offer to our future partners.
