Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

After Governor Kenji walked off to give instructions about the shoe business, the newly appointed officials began a heated discussion among themselves.

However, the content of their conversation wasn’t exactly constructive.

They chatted about things like trying to probe Governor Kenji’s background, expressing confusion over the unfamiliar concepts introduced in the lecture, and voicing concerns about the sheer scale and difficulty of the tasks ahead.

These weren’t discussions meant to solve anything—instead, they were a kind of escape, a way to vent the pressure from having had so much unfamiliar knowledge crammed into them so quickly, most of which defied their common sense.

Gradually, their energy faded, and the room fell quiet—until someone, at last, broke the silence.

“So… what are we going to do now?”

But no one had a clear answer.

Each of the six officials had been chosen because they were considered outstanding within their respective groups, and naturally, they carried a certain pride in their abilities.

However, the lecture they had just attended had shaken that pride. It made them realize that what they’d believed to be “excellence” was relatively insignificant, and that they were far from being capable of leading a world-changing project on their own.

Their confidence temporarily shattered, no one stepped forward to take the lead.

There was another reason for their hesitation: Kenji had given them such broad freedom in their assignments that they had no idea where to start. Though they had excelled in their religious or military organizations, they were still young. They were used to following orders, not devising plans or taking initiative on their own.

In hindsight, it was only natural that the first person to step up was Sara—a former adventurer already familiar with Kenji’s unconventional methods.

“First, I think we should come up with a plan,” she said. “I don’t really know how to make one, but everyone here’s smart, right? If we talk it through, maybe we’ll come up with some good ideas. And even if we mess up a little, we can just check with Kenji—or, well, the Governor—and fix it.”

Ah, so it’s okay not to get everything right the first time. The priests nodded, albeit a little slowly, as if realizing something they hadn’t quite grasped before.

This wasn’t a test with only one correct answer. It was a process—an approach that allowed for mistakes and encouraged improvement through repeated adjustments.

Remembering the conversation they’d had with the lord about justice, they finally understood. They had time. If they got it wrong, they could fix it.

The two soldiers among them had a slightly different mindset. Having been on many expeditions, they could tally up supplies and logistics with their eyes closed.

“The real issue is how many of us can actually head to the territory without an escort,” one of them said. “How many here have ever camped outside the castle walls?”

Besides the two soldiers, only Sara raised her hand.

“Sort of… halfway,” she said, somewhat uncertainly. “So yeah, looks like we’ll need guards.”

At this rate, it was clear that the group wasn’t even capable of traveling safely on their own.

The investigation assigned to the new officials was off to a rocky start.
