Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 364
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
The discussion continued.
Claudio represented the logic of governance, while Sara represented the logic of adventurers.
Top-down versus bottom-up.
It wasn’t a matter of which was better or worse.
Because of that, there was no clear superiority in the discussion, and neither side yielded in their arguments.
Once most opinions had been shared and the debate began to circle back on itself, I spoke up.
“Is it okay to wrap up now?”
Everyone’s eyes turned to me, as if they had only just noticed my presence — a sign they had been deeply focused on their discussion.
“Well then. I believe both sides have thoroughly presented their arguments. What do you think?”
Everyone nodded in agreement, so I continued.
“How should we govern the territory from now on? I want to thank everyone for their thoughtful contributions to this discussion. I also believe it’s my responsibility — and a way to show my gratitude — to ensure this conversation doesn’t end as mere debate but is translated into practical action.
I would now like to state our policy regarding the governance of the governor’s territory moving forward. Your research has been incredibly helpful in shaping this policy. Of course, I’m always willing to hear differing opinions on what I’m about to present.”
First, acknowledge the value of their research and emphasize its usefulness.
Simply mentioning how helpful it was will improve their willingness to listen and increase their motivation in the future.
This also reinforces that when a superior speaks, respect and feedback are essential.
Without these two points, speaking as a superior holds no value.
Once you’ve ensured they’re paying attention, proceed.
“First of all, this territory is far from the city. As governor, I intend to manage both the territory and the shoe business in the city at the same time. To achieve this, I’m searching for an efficient method of governance that allows one person to oversee both effectively.
In my view, the territory entrusted to me by Father Nicolo does not seem to be governed very well at the moment. The reason I believe this is because, despite there being no significant poor harvests or major incidents in recent years, several young people have become adventurers.
I suspect that dealing with monsters is a burden largely left to the villagers, yet no related issues have been reported. There’s no such thing as a territory without problems.
If no issues are being reported, it likely means either the problems are being ignored or they aren’t being recognized as problems at all.
This may stem from the governor’s personal shortcomings, but it’s also a flaw in the management system itself.
I believe we need a method that allows even an average governor to recognize the problems that are happening now.
Where are the current problems occurring? They lie in the experiences of the peasants and the issues that adventurers have resolved.
We must remember that just because no problems appear in the documents doesn’t mean they don’t exist.”
Up to this point, everyone had been listening carefully.
However, what he had said so far was more about mindset.
From here, he would need to break down his instructions into practical steps.
