Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 362
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
They said they were ready, so it was time for the other team to begin their presentation.
It seemed that Rodolf from the Corps would be giving the greeting and explanation.
“This report concerns the activities we carried out as part of our preliminary investigation.
Our original plan was for the governor to organize and analyze the information we gathered while we focused on fieldwork and direct interviews. However, after seeing the previous team’s presentation, we revised our plan. Since we were given more time, we decided to organize our findings in a clearer format.
Now, regarding the territory in question — I spoke with an adventurer who had visited the area. It seems the request came while they were completing another job, without going through the Adventurer’s Guild. I heard about this through Sara’s connections, so I would appreciate it if you didn’t press for details.
According to the adventurer, the territory has been attacked by goblins several times. It seems there’s a goblin nest in the neighboring territory that hasn’t been destroyed. I don’t know the full details, but it appears that since the neighboring territory belongs to a noble family, they’re reluctant to let the church’s territory interfere.
There was also an adventurer from that village. Unfortunately, he retired, and his whereabouts are unknown. I checked the records from the past five years and found entries for seven young men who had registered as adventurers. However, there may have been some oversights.
Regardless, I was able to track down one of the adventurers who had been in a party with him and spoke with him.
He said he left the village to become an adventurer due to poor harvests. He hadn’t heard anything about particularly heavy taxes or significant monster threats. However, when they went to exterminate goblins together, he seemed unusually accustomed to it.
Additionally, this is something I heard from their leader — he mentioned that he’d never received a request from Father Nicolo’s territory. Apparently, Father Nicolo was busy working at the central church and didn’t seem particularly invested in managing his territory. He didn’t know much about the previous governor either — only that he was fairly average and lacked any notable reputation.
That concludes the results of our investigation.”
I see.
While Claudio’s team focused on tracking down laws and documents — which they excelled at — Sara’s team relied on their strong connections in the Adventurer’s Guild and firsthand accounts to gather testimonies from those involved.
“Any questions?”
Rodolf turned to the team that had already finished their presentation, and Claudio raised his hand.
He was pretty sharp.
“I want to hear the hypothesis you came up with.
We focused on finding the laws and documents that would allow the governor to take control of the territory and implement policy as soon as he arrived. Our results may have been incomplete, but that was our aim. That’s because laws and records don’t lie.
But you focused on collecting testimonies from adventurers. People’s opinions change, and what adventurers say is often subjective. No matter how much you gather, it’s difficult to rely on it as political information.”
With that, he sat down.
What use is an adventurer’s testimony in politics? Surely the impressions of people from that class are of little practical value in a world where decisions must be based on the bigger picture?
Claudio’s words may sound discriminatory, but as an intellectual clergyman who prides himself on being part of society’s upper ranks — trained in using laws and records as his tools — he’s not entirely wrong.
Now, how will they respond?
Looking at Sara’s team, I can see their faces are tense — but they seem eager to answer.
This might get interesting.
