Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 361
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
“Okay, that’s the end of the review for now. Next team, get ready!”
As soon as I said that, Sara’s team started moving busily to prepare.
But Luc, who came from a merchant family and had experience with the Sword Fangs Legion, spoke up.
“Can we have a little time? I want to reconsider how we’re going to present.”
“I’ll allow it. We’ll take a break until you’re ready to present.”
Hearing that, Claudio complained.
“Isn’t that unfair? If they get extra time to prepare after hearing about our mistakes, isn’t it only natural that their presentation will be better?”
It was a predictable reaction — but also a disappointing one.
“I understand your concern. But, Claudio, you’re mistaken.”
“What mistake?”
“This isn’t some career race where we’re competing to see who’s better. Me, you, and the other six here — we’re all part of the same team.
The real enemies we’re up against are the issues facing the territory — the harsh natural environment that makes crop growth difficult and the threat of monsters hindering the village’s development.
Our focus should be on figuring out what steps we need to take to address these challenges. What information do we need to gather? What roles should each of us play in researching that information?
That’s why we’re spending three days on research and ending with a presentation.”
I pause there, letting my words settle before continuing.
“This presentation isn’t about criticism or belittling anyone. If you see someone stumble, I want you to support them. If you notice a mistake, think of ways to improve. If you see someone doing something well, learn from it — and make sure that knowledge spreads.
We’re not here to pick a winner. We’re here to succeed together.”
There’s no point ranking a group of just six people. Instead of deciding who’s better or worse, it’s far more important to determine what each person is suited for and how they can contribute.
More than anything, we need to function as a team and achieve results together.
I wonder if my words are getting through.
“It’s like the brothers of the sword and shield, isn’t it?” Luc, the former soldier, spoke up.
“What’s that? Sounds kind of cool,” Simon the craftsman asked.
“It’s something the Sword Fangs Legion says before training or battle,” Luc explained. “The Corps can’t function unless the front-line Sword and Shield soldiers, the middle-line Axe-Lance soldiers, and the rear-line Crossbowmen all work together. Hearing what the governor just said reminded me of what our Captain always said.”
The term teamwork doesn’t exist in this world yet, but it’s no surprise that a group like the Sword Fangs Legion — known for their tactical coordination — would have a similar mindset. After all, the concept of team play itself originally came from military strategy.
Once again, I’m reminded that members of the Sword Fangs Legion are trained to demonstrate leadership within a group.
I’ve heard they train their three distinct units to function independently if separated, so this mindset likely stems from that.
I wonder if I should ask Jilboa to let me observe their training.
I hesitate, though. It feels like visiting a corporate seminar meant for the Self-Defense Forces… but perhaps there are lessons there that could help me survive in this unpredictable world.
