Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 354
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
A week later, a six-person team was assembled to prepare for the governor’s territory.
Two members were chosen from each group — the church, the Sword Fangs Legion, and the company — making a total of six people. Technically, all of them were volunteers.
As my first task as governor, I was responsible for briefing and explaining their roles. While that may sound impressive, the setting for my speech was far from grand — just a corner of the company’s workshop. Since the workshop was undergoing expansion, there was some extra space available. Chairs and desks were brought in, turning it into a temporary classroom.
It was a modest and dusty start.
I checked the list of participants:
From the church, there were the young clergymen Claudio and Paperino.
From the Sword Fangs Legion, there were Luc, who came from a merchant family, and Rodolf, who came from a noble family.
From the company, there were Sara, a former adventurer, and Simon, a craftsman.
Everyone, including Sara, had been chosen because they could read and understand numbers at a basic level. Their writing skills were also simple, but that was enough.
They sat quietly in worn-out chairs, waiting for me to speak.
With social status backing my position, I didn’t feel the pressure to make a strong opening statement this time — and that was a relief.
I began speaking slowly, carefully enunciating each word.
“Thank you all for coming today. For the next few years, you will be working for me. I may be new to this role, but I have ambitious ideas. To make those ideas a reality, I’ll need your help.
I plan to dedicate plenty of time to training you so that you understand my way of thinking. This is training, not studying — which means you’ll be working with your hands, going out into the field, and learning through experience. Above all, I want you to develop the ability to think about new ideas for yourselves.
To help you with that, I may sometimes withhold my conclusions or reasons, and at times I may ask you to do things that seem confusing or unreasonable. But please bear with it. I will support you through it.
From now on, let’s work hard together.”
I greeted everyone politely, and there was a sparse round of applause. Given the setting, it was inevitable that the atmosphere wasn’t particularly lively — and that was fine.
I quickly shifted my focus and moved on.
“So, first we’ll form teams. Each group will have three people: one from the church, one from the legion, and one from the company.”
With that, I divided them into two teams of three.
“These three will be the learning group. From now on, please work together during my lectures.”
The two clergymen looked noticeably confused by the sudden team assignments. On the other hand, the two members of the Sword Fangs Legion — accustomed to working in teams — and the two company members — familiar with my unexpected instructions — remained calm.
“Um, are we not allowed to be on the same team?”
Claudio, one of the church representatives, raised his hand and asked.
“No,” I rejected the request outright.
“May I ask why?”
“Yes. Because I believe you need more opportunities to interact with people outside the church as equals.”
Hearing my reply, Claudio lowered his hand, visibly resigned.
From past experience lecturing young clergymen, I knew they often struggled with blindly following their superiors’ will without listening to their subordinates.
The first step for them was to develop the mindset and habit of debating as equals.
