Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

The goblins are easy to capture because they faint when struck on the head, according to the group members involved in the capture. Unlike normal beasts, which have short necks and strong muscles that hold their heads in place—making it difficult to knock them out with a mere blow to the head—small, humanoid monsters like goblins seem to suffer a concussion more easily.

The goblin, its limbs bound with chains, lies unconscious, resembling a large baboon with green and brown mixed fur and short fangs that jut up from the corners of its mouth.

“It looks like it’s breathing…” the Baron mutters, watching the goblin’s chest rise and fall.

He holds a thin metal pen and a stack of parchment, immediately starting to draw.

At the Baron’s request to “see inside its mouth,” I use a stick I find nearby to flip back the goblin’s lips, revealing its uneven fangs and gums.

The Baron begins counting the number of teeth. “I have a goblin skull, but I need to check if it has the same number of teeth.”

“Yes, I see…” I respond.

The shape and number of teeth are critical for identifying a goblin’s species. If this research advances, it might be possible to determine a goblin’s species and health condition based on a single fallen tooth.

“I want to see its molars. Use this,” the Baron says, handing me a thick metal rod. It makes sense—there’s a chance the goblin could wake up and bite me while I examine its mouth.

“Baron, you’re really well-prepared,” I say, perhaps a bit too casually, as I’m impressed by his thoroughness.

“Of course! Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this opportunity? Now, show me more of its molars!”

With that, the Baron walks around the goblin, holding his parchment and pen, and takes his seat. After observing the goblin from the outside, he says, “I want to hear its voice. Wake it up.”

If the goblin makes a sound, there’s a chance it could call for help from nearby goblins, which would complicate things. For normal requests, people would usually approach it from behind something to prevent it from making noise or use long-range tactics to deal with it.

I hesitate for a moment and look at Swiberry, who is in charge here. He silently nods.

A little reinforcement probably won’t be a big deal for the Sword Fangs Legion. They likely think it will reduce the effort required to track down any goblins that have managed to escape.

One of the Legion members pours water from a bucket onto the unconscious goblin.

The goblin’s closed eyelids slowly open, revealing large eyes in proportion to its skull, with vertical slits for pupils. Despite the visible oil around its eyes, its eyelashes are surprisingly long.

“They say they have good night vision, so I thought your pupils would be larger, but I guess that’s not the case…” the Baron says, peering intently into the goblin’s eyes.

The goblin, startled by the intense gaze, lets out a “Gah!!!” and tries to jump up. However, the chains binding its hands and feet restrict its movement, so it only manages to bounce slightly.

Unable to understand what’s happening, the goblin begins thrashing wildly, still bound, while other members of the Legion hold it down with sticks.

Somehow, this scene doesn’t sit right with me. It feels like we’re bullying the weak.

In truth, the fact that the Sword Fangs Legion is hunting goblins is undeniably an act of preying on the weak, but seeing it unfold like this makes it uncomfortable.

Unconcerned with my discomfort, the Baron continues to record the sounds the goblin makes.
