Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

To save time, I decided to investigate while balancing my work, relying only on my connections in the city. If I search for information beyond Deacon Michelino, the local clergy’s connections are limited.

First, I aim to meet the clergyman who manages the adventurer’s cemetery, as he has numerous contacts with adventurers. I hope that among the young clergymen under Priest Nicolo, he has a good grasp of the field since he interacts with adventurers daily.

“I don’t have much of an impression of him,” Sara says as we walk.

“You didn’t have to force yourself to come with me,” I reply.

She insists, “Have you forgotten that you were attacked on the way back from the church? You should never act alone! Besides, you don’t know what I’ll end up taking on without you, right?”

I concede her point. Being busy also poses its dangers. I plan to leave as soon as I wrap up my business, promising not to be careless and open a drink at a new place like last time. I’ll have two guards with me: Kiriku and another person. So, if it’s just a crowd of down-on-their-luck adventurers, 10 or 20 people wouldn’t be a big deal, and even if things get rough, Sara and I shouldn’t have to step in.

But, setting that aside, I say, “I’m counting on you.”

“Of course!” she replies, instantly cheerful, turning around and puffing out her chest, which I find adorable.

The church in the third-class district, where adventurers are honored, also provides magical treatment for adventurers’ injuries. While they can’t heal missing arms or legs, they can treat parts of arms that can’t move due to damaged muscles. Some of these treatments even exceed the standards of my original world.

As a result, the costs are high, but a top-tier adventurer can easily afford them, and treatment fees are reduced for those who take on church requests.

Information on this is often received through the Sword Fangs Legion, which frequently accepts requests from the church.

“Honestly, it’s been a lifesaver. In the Sword Fangs Legion, we could receive treatment through the captain’s connections, but there were times when we got ripped off or there wasn’t a qualified magical practitioner available. Imagine being in pain and bleeding, only to be told that the staff was unavailable and to come back later. I really felt like punching someone that day,” Kiriku says, swinging his arms around as he explains what it was like back then.

He speaks as if he hadn’t punched anyone, but I’m sure he had.

I can’t help but feel sympathy for the man who got beaten by Kiriku’s long, muscular arms in place of the absent staff member.

When we arrive at the church, several adventurers are already receiving treatment inside. A priest, or someone who looks like one, grabs a handful of silver powder and mutters something under his breath. The injured area becomes enveloped in a warm glow of white and green light. An arm wrapped in filthy, blood-stained bandages now moves freely, completely healed with no scars.

I’ve seen magical healing a few times, but it never ceases to amaze me.

The adventurers pull out bags of coins that look quite substantial and hand them to the priest before expressing their gratitude and leaving the church.

After seeing them off, the priest, having finished his treatment, turns to us.

“I believe your name is Kenji, correct? I’m using that report format you provided. You’re not here seeking treatment today, are you?”

Since we’re in a position to make a request, I greet him politely.

“Yes, I apologize for coming without prior notice. I have a few questions I’d like to ask.”

The priest looks puzzled for a moment, but then, perhaps having heard something from Father Nicolo, he leads me to a room at the back of the church.
