Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Even after we finish delivering to the church, the company is still busy.

The guardian’s shoes and other tasks are significantly delayed, so I have to make various visits to apologize.

I haven’t been to the Adventurer’s Guild recently, so I head there and listen to the person at the counter talk about the latest adventurers’ affairs and the status of requests. Suddenly, the guild door slams open. I turn to look and see a young man in ragged clothes.

“S-Sorry! Is this the Adventurer’s Guild?” he calls out.

Looking more closely, his clothes aren’t just ragged—they’ve been torn by something, and it looks like he’s bleeding. He staggers toward the reception desk, and I step aside to avoid getting in the way.

“The village… it was attacked by goblins…” He leans against the counter and collapses.

A guild employee hurriedly brings over a chair. “So, for now, please sit here and tell me your request, okay?”

“Y-yes… I’m fine. After entering the city, I couldn’t find this place… I’m sorry. But I’m okay.” Responding to the staff’s concern, the man begins explaining his request.

I’m standing a bit farther away, so I can’t hear all the details, but it seems like he’s requesting help to exterminate a horde of goblins that appeared in his village.

As requests go, this is a fairly common one for the guild.

However, the receptionist looks sympathetic and says, “Hey, this amount is going to be difficult, isn’t it?”

It seems the villager doesn’t have enough money to cover the cost of the request.

“Is it not enough…?” The villager slumps his shoulders.

“You see, the current amount would cover the goblin extermination, but we also need to consider the travel expenses to and from your village, as well as accommodation costs. You’re short on funds to cover those.”

“W-Why does it cost that much? Ours is a small village, and we’re short on funds at this time of year. Can’t you do something about it?” he complains.

However, requests to the Adventurer’s Guild are usually made on a cash basis unless there is a strong guarantor. It’s not something the receptionist can handle at their own discretion.

“Hmm, that’s a bit of a problem…” the receptionist mutters.

At that moment, a warrior-looking adventurer from the back of the guild approaches and asks, “What’s the problem here?”

He seems to know the receptionist, as they start discussing the situation. “Well, this gentleman is requesting help with a goblin extermination, but he’s a little short on funds,” the receptionist explains.

“How much is he short?” the adventurer asks.

“Three large copper coins,” the receptionist replies.

“Which village?”

“It’s a small village two days east along the highway.”

“Isn’t there a guild there?”

“It’s a small village…”

“I can stop by there on my way to another quest,” the warrior says, accepting the request.

He’s quite a chivalrous guy. For adventurers who come from farming villages, these kinds of requests aren’t someone else’s problem.

“Th-thank you so much!” The villager bows repeatedly, deeply grateful.

The atmosphere in the guild relaxes, and we watch as the villager and adventurer leave together.

“It’s a nice story. I really like that about adventurers,” Sara says.

Adventurers with such a strong sense of duty are valuable to the guild.

“When that man reports completing the request, add the three large copper coins to his reward. I’ll cover it,” I say, handing over the coins to the receptionist.

As I hand the receptionist the large copper coins from my wallet, I can’t help but mutter, “That’s not good.”
