Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 254
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
“So, if we request the Adventurers’ Guild to take the foot sizes, will they do it properly? I don’t want to say it, but adventurers, including me, aren’t exactly the brightest, you know? Plus, since it’s a simple task, they won’t be getting much money for it, right? What if they do a half-hearted job?” Sara seems concerned about relying on adventurers to gather the foot sizes of the clergy.
“That’s what would happen if we requested it normally. We could set it up as a success-based reward, paying them only if we’re satisfied, but that would lead to delays in the time needed for revisions, so it wouldn’t fit the purpose this time.”
“Right. But you have something in mind, don’t you?”
I nod and take out the report I prepare in place of Urbano from the Adventurers’ Guild and related documents.
“Here, we have the achievement rates of each adventurer, essentially their reliability information. By relying on those who do their work properly, we can avoid requesting from 100 adventurers with varying degrees of reliability. Moreover, if we efficiently assign the areas on our end, one person can handle the foot sizes of three to four priests. Thus, if we request about 30 adventurers, we could finish gathering the sizes for 100 people in a day. We could also conduct one or two training sessions on how to take the foot sizes for around 30 people. For those who take accurate measurements, we’ll pay a bonus. This way, we can reduce mistakes in the first place.”
When outsourcing work to outsiders, how to design the task becomes more critical than managing it internally.
This is because outsiders do not understand the content that an internal person would understand and will only do the work as instructed.
Therefore, if the instructions given are incorrect or unclear, it’s not the fault of the outsiders but rather my fault for designing and delegating the task poorly.
If there’s uncertainty about the reliability of adventurers, we can simply rely on those who are trustworthy. Their reliability can be assessed based on past performances. And I have that information on hand because I am the one who designs the report to calculate reliability in the first place.
“Ha… I was wondering why you were doing such a tedious job for the Adventurers’ Guild, but I see you plan to use it this way.”
“Well, that’s not the only reason. It’s only fair that adventurers who work hard, not just the strong ones, get rewarded, right?”
Newly emerged adventurers from rural areas often have nothing. No education, no connections. They don’t even possess decent weapons. If they have leather sandals on their feet, they’re considered good. When such people try to take on jobs, they often don’t receive proper requests. So, at the very least, I want those who are genuinely trying hard to be rewarded. I prefer to assign work to adventurers who may not be good talkers but reliably complete their tasks rather than those who boast loudly while swinging their weapons.
“…That’s true. I struggled a lot at the beginning, too.”
Just how much hardship does a girl who comes alone from a farming village have to go through? Her struggles cannot simply be summed up in a few words. Yet, she overcomes them, and now Sara is here.
“That’s right. I hope the number of those who have to struggle like that decreases, at least a little. That’s what I think.” Feeling a bit embarrassed, I speak in a quieter voice.
“Right. I hope that will be the case.” Sara nods in agreement.
In the end, the task of collecting the foot sizes of 100 priests is completed without any major mistakes within two days.
