Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 226
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
In this world, magic is a technique that only a very limited number of people can use.
First and foremost, obtaining knowledge about magic is difficult. If an ordinary person wishes to learn magic, they must find a reclusive magician living in a village or town and pay a hefty fee to learn it.
Training typically begins at a young age, as efficiency significantly declines once a person reaches adulthood. However, even under these circumstances, all they can learn is basic magic, such as firing simple fire or stone bullets.
To master more complicated magic, one must join a magician’s guild in the royal capital or a large territory and train there.
During my five years as an adventurer, I encountered many who claim to use magic, but almost all of them are limited to basic spells. After all, if someone is educated and wealthy enough to wield advanced magic, they wouldn’t choose to become an adventurer—this is only natural.
Additionally, using magic requires a catalyst, which can be quite expensive. Even the most basic spells cost around one copper coin to cast, making the expense for advanced magic virtually limitless. Furthermore, a single arrow shot from a longbow is often more powerful and has a longer range than a fireball, all for a fraction of the cost.
Thus, magic is not something that novice or mid-level poor adventurers can rely on.
However, the situation is different for first-class adventurers like the Sword Fangs Legion and high-ranking nobles. It seems that magic can yield extremely powerful effects when used correctly. For example, casting a blessing spell on a shield can deflect a blow from a formidable monster, while a strong wind spell can unbalance a flying creature, sending it plummeting to the ground.
“That’s all pretty vague!” That is Sara’s reaction after I explain what I know about magic.
“It’s not my fault; I can’t use magic at all,” I reply, turning to my escort, Kiriku. “Do you know anything?”
But all I get back is an unhelpful shrug and “I know as much as you do.”
Even if we are dealing with someone who is not magic, we still need to reassess the security system at the company’s shoe workshop. We headed straight to the Sword Fangs Legion’ office after returning from the church.

“You’re still causing trouble, Kenji. But this time, you’re up against a powerful noble from another town, and he’s a magician. That’s troublesome,” Jilboa says with a frown as he listens to my concerns about security.
“Do you have any enemies that are particularly troublesome?” I ask him.
Jilboa gives me a wry smile. “Who do you think I am? Enemies are always troublesome. Especially when they’re invisible and can’t be defeated with a mere swing of a sword. With this particular enemy, we need to be wary of unseen threats rather than just visible ones.”
“Invisible threats?” I repeat Jilboa’s point like a fool.
“Yeah. Enemies don’t always approach from the front, and they don’t just come from outside,” Jilboa explains, his tone growing more serious and unsettling.
