Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Over the course of a week, several packages addressed to the company arrive at the church in the third-class district, and I take Sara and Kiriku back and forth to retrieve them. Since these are not packages I can delegate to others, I wrap them in cloth and carry the boxes close to my chest, a sight that must appear quite comical to those around me. However, I have no time to be concerned about that at all.

In the end, five blueprints and three pairs of actual shoes arrive, but the clay foot molds have yet to arrive. They must be encountering significant delays. Considering that they may not arrive at all, it would be prudent to proceed with production.

Fortunately, the pioneer shoes made in-house have a well-established production line. As long as the size information is correct and the materials are available, we can produce them in less than a day.

The manufacturing method is the same as that of the other general-purpose guardian shoes and pioneer shoes, but ultimately, this is the best way to ensure the highest quality.

I spread out the blueprints I receive, open the box, and take out the Cardinal’s shoes made by other craftsmen.

“Amazing…”

“Beautiful…”

Sara and Kiriku can’t help but exclaim in admiration when they see them.

They look less like shoes and more like pieces of art.

The leather has a surface that shimmers white like enamel, without a single scratch. Since enamel doesn’t exist in this world, it’s likely some kind of high-grade monster leather that has been polished in some way.

The materials and processing methods are completely beyond my imagination.

The shoes don’t feel cheap at all; I sense some kind of power emanating from them, similar to the feeling one gets when encountering a magical object.

Additionally, there are decorative stitching patterns in gold and silver thread at key points, adding a sense of symbolism.

Because of my job, I am curious about the soles, so I turn them over to examine them. Various patterns are sewn into the soles, serving both decorative and anti-slip purposes.

However, I notice these shoes lack an arch to support the foot and have no shock-absorbing mechanism in the heel area. Additionally, both shoes are identical in shape, causing the toes to feel cramped. My honest impression is that wearing these shoes would be tiring.

I call Gorgoro over and immediately measure the remaining shoes and blueprints. The results are surprising, or rather, as expected.

“Hmph, these shoes and blueprints are clearly not large enough,” Gorgoro remarks, taking out a special ruler designed to measure shoe size and inspecting the various dimensions.

“As I thought… I expected it, but it’s so blatant.”

The dimensions of two blueprints and one pair of shoes are clearly smaller than the others. They are likely trying to provide false information to embarrass Father Nicolo and us.

“For a workshop with such a long history, their tactics are rather petty…” I muse.

However, for a traditional workshop employed by a nobleman, this level of harassment might be nothing more than a formality.

“For now, we don’t have much time. Let’s assume that the remaining information is correct and start making the shoes. Gorgoro, can I leave this to you?”

When I say that, Gorgoro nods confidently. “Of course. Whether it’s for the Cardinal or any foot, a good shoe that fits is essential. If it doesn’t fit the foot, it will cause fatigue. That’s how it is, right?”

Right now, I’m just grateful for Gorgoro’s laid-back approach as a craftsman.
