- Chapter 218 - The Subtleties of Providing Information
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Deacon Michelino, finally in a calm state of mind, asks me a question. “You mentioned providing accurate information. What kind of information do you think should be shared?”
I pause for a moment and counter with a question. “What means do you currently use to share information within the church? I mean, among the priests in various locations.”
First, I want to confirm the means of communication. For effective information sharing, it should be cheap, reliable, and quick, using the existing information-sharing system.
“Well, for the churches in town, we have a gathering of priests once every six months. The last one was held about two months ago, so the next one will be in four months.”
That timeline feels too late. However, in this world, it might be considered frequent enough for sharing information.
“Other than that, we occasionally circulate documents in the form of private letters from higher-ranking churches. Most of the time, these contain requests for donations or information about outbreaks of illness in our region.”
Indeed, epidemics require prompt action, so circulating documents as a means of quick information sharing makes sense. The current shoe bubble situation could be viewed as an epidemic of sorts, so using a similar method might be advantageous.
“Would it be possible to circulate a document regarding this issue?” I ask.
Deacon Michelino nods vigorously. “It should be possible. If it’s under Father Nicolo’s name, there shouldn’t be any problem contacting the priests in the city. I’m sure many will be interested in learning about the department that manages the seals, so I doubt there will be any complaints.”
“I see. Then let’s set a date and time for an explanatory meeting with the priests. Since the number of bishops is small, they can be addressed individually, but it would be challenging to speak with all the priests one by one. This way, we should be able to buy ourselves some time.”
There seem to be small fluctuations in the numbers and church districts, so I don’t have the exact figures. However, considering the size of the parish where I live, there should be around ten bishops in charge of their respective parishes. On the other hand, there are likely over 100 priests in this town responsible for the individual churches beneath them.
If the few individuals under Father Nicolo were to handle all of them, it would mean staying up all night.
Deacon Michelino looks relieved when he hears this.
They have probably been so overwhelmed that they can’t even think of such a simple solution.
“Yes, let’s make arrangements with Father Nicolo right away! If we can organize an opportunity to explain everything together, the priests in the city will calm down!”
“Exactly. Without information, people become suspicious and anxious. We can provide more details later, but for now, we need to ease their concerns.”
“Alright, let’s get to work immediately! I’ll inform you of the date and time. See you!” With that, Deacon Michelino jogs out of the church meeting room.
Honestly, I want to discuss what they will talk about in that meeting and what measures they will implement. But given his exhausted state, that seems impossible.
I sigh and stand up from my chair, deciding to head home.
“Do you think this will reduce the number of priests coming to the organization a little?” Sara asks
All I can do is shrug and say, “I don’t know.”
