Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 206
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
Before explaining the Church Seal, I first checked with Deacon Michelino.
“Lord Michelino, are you knowledgeable about the law?”
Deacon Michelino blinks and replies, “Law? Yes, I know a fair amount about secular law since it’s necessary for managing the Church’s territory. However, I’m not as knowledgeable as a specialist. I’ve also studied marriage law and property law to a certain extent.”
The Church handles marriages and funerals, so it seems natural for a deacon vying for promotion to study the relevant laws. Both marriage and funerals are closely related to property division, not just for individuals but for families, making disputes likely. This is an area where legal adjudication is essential.
However, the law is applied fairly only to those with a certain level of wealth and power and is largely irrelevant to adventurers, who are lower-class citizens.
As a mere adventurer, my bringing up legal matters seems to perplex Deacon Michelino. But that is a minor point. Given that he has a basic understanding of law, it should make future explanations easier.
Ignoring the doubt on Deacon Michelino’s face, I continue the discussion.
“What do you think is the key element in the enforcement of law?”
Deacon Michelino thinks for a moment about my vague question before responding, “Well… there are various theories, but I believe it’s the rules and the punishments. There are legal regulations, and if you break them, there are punishments. That, I think, is what law enforcement is about. In reality, it’s quite complex, though. What do you think?”
“I have no objections,” I nod deeply in agreement.
Deacon Michelino asks, “Does this relate to the department managing the church’s seal?”
“Very much so.” I answer, “I believe it’s best to apply the concept of law enforcement to the administration of the Church’s seals. It can’t be as strict as rules and penalties, so perhaps it would be better to refer to it as promises and restrictions.”
“Promises and restrictions,” Deacon Michelino repeats.
