Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.

In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Half a month has passed since our return to the city, and I am summoned to the church in the second district to meet with Priest Nicolo.

The delay might be due to the influence of the priests’ reports.

After a brief greeting, Priest Nicolo gets straight to the point. “I have received the reports from the priests. I’d like to hear your observations.”

“Yes. Regarding the three deacons—Clement, Adelmo, and Michelino—I consider their training as leaders for the development project to be complete. Additionally, during this training period, I have made considerable revisions to the lecture content and materials. This should provide a solid foundation for the ongoing development of leaders within the church.”

“Indeed. They say young people grow quickly, but it seems they have changed quite a lot in such a short time. The reports convey a sense of detailed consideration and compassion.”

“I am honored. It is the result of their efforts.”

Priest Nicolo strokes his chin thoughtfully. “Do you have any ideas on how to proceed from now on?”

“Yes. I believe we should further develop these three priests by exposing them to different experiences so they can grow into specialists.”

“Interesting,” says Priest Nicolo, urging me on.

“In my view, Clement is suited to lead people with his loud voice and proactive attitude. He should be developed as an on-site educator or implementation leader. Adelmo excels in numerical skills. He should pursue a path in analyzing and auditing reports and records. And Michelino is a very unique individual. I believe we should find a way to leverage his intellectual freedom. For now, it might be best not to assign fixed roles, but to use them as advisors for Clement and Adelmo.”

“Are you now intervening in personnel evaluations and development? That is quite presumptuous.” Priest Nicolo continues in a seemingly cheerful tone, despite the serious content of his words.

“How do you plan to change the case study approach?”

“First, we will prepare multiple case studies. We will also spend a significant amount of time describing the necessity and methods for verifying the reliability of the information at hand. We will create separate case studies for the post-project structure and risks. Additionally, we will conduct field visits in conjunction with the case studies and make copies of the reports to share with the church.”

“How long will it take to create these new case studies?”

“About a month.”

“Who will provide the training? Will you continue to handle it?”

“Unfortunately, as an outsider, I think I have conveyed the teaching methods in this instance. Going forward, I believe the three priests should take on the teaching role. By gaining teaching experience, they can learn many times more than they could by just being taught. I wish to be involved in the development project in a different capacity.””

“In what different way? What do you mean?”

“I intend to provide shoes to the developers. I want to use part of the profit to employ those in the village who are in distress.”

“I’ve heard about the shoes from the priests. I wouldn’t mind adopting it as part of the church’s initiatives as compensation for this project. However, you want to use the profits for charity? It’s noble, but…” Priest Nicolo appears not to fully grasp the idea of using profits for charity. The concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) doesn’t seem to be present in this world.

Although I’m unsure if he will understand, I attempt to explain the reasoning..

“Projects can only continue with the support of many people in society. My shoe business primarily caters to adventurers, many of whom come from rural villages. The shoes used by those developing the villages will be the first ones seen by those aspiring to become adventurers from these villages. If they perceive that purchasing these shoes benefits their villages, they will be more likely to support my business.” After saying that, I pause and add, “Moreover, if the church’s blessing is added, the shoes will sell even better, won’t they?”

“Ah, you rascal…” Priest Nicolo’s lips twist into a grin as he bursts into laughter.
