- Chapter 150 - The Closed World and the Open World
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
The method of setting rules as “Do this, and do nothing else” is called a closed rule, while the method of setting rules as “You cannot do this, and everything else is free” is called an open rule.
The deacons have probably lived in a world governed by strict doctrines and church rules, characterized by closed rules. Thus, they might be confused by the open rule environment of the case study learning.
This difference seems to reflect a lack of prior awareness on my part. If the church is to seriously engage in business, it will need to continuously and massively train such business managers. If designing a curriculum for this purpose, the next step would be to include a phase in the educational program to bridge the gap between the church’s world and the outside world.
Whether deacons who adapt to such thought processes and free environments can fit back into the closed world of the church is something I don’t know, but that’s something for Priest Nicolo to consider.

After promising to meet again in a week, I finished lecturing to the deacons.
On my way back to the workshop, Sara speaks up, seemingly unable to bear it any longer.
“Hey, hey, those deacons are really smart, right? Why didn’t they cooperate at first?” She asked with an expression of genuine curiosity. “Hey, hey, those deacons are really smart, right? Why didn’t they cooperate at first?” She asks with an expression of genuine curiosity.
“You’re confident in your archery skills, right? If there was only one small bird as prey, would you cooperate with other hunters?”
I use the situation as an analogy for hunting with little prey.
“Of course I would! Because if we cooperate on catching the next bird, both of us can have our fill!”
Her answer makes me laugh.
“What’s wrong? Did I say something funny?” Sara pouts.
I manage to contain my laughter and praise her.
“No, you’re absolutely right. If Sara became a clergy member, she’d be a priest right away.” I say it half-seriously.
Sara quickly denies it. “You’re such a fool! Women can’t become priests! Honestly, Kenji, you don’t know anything!”
“Yes, that’s true. I don’t know anything.”
Our conversation is so amusing that I laugh all the way home.

A few days later, after handling the shoe business and a few other arrangements, Sara and I visited the church to conduct the lecture.
The three deacons have arrived early and are engaged in a heated discussion. They seem enthusiastic and quite prepared. Upon closer inspection, I notice faint dark circles under their eyes. They have clearly put in a lot of effort. I look forward to the results.

“Hello. It looks like you’ve all worked hard this past week,” I greet them.
Deacon Clement puffs out his chest and responds, “Of course! Our plan has no flaws. We’ve avoided all the tricks you set up!”
He then slams a stack of parchments onto the desk.
“Is that so? I’m looking forward to it.” I nod and confirm, just to be sure. “By the way, today, we’re here to hear the development plan you all have put together, correct?”
After receiving an affirmative response, I give a pleasant smile and, with a touch of mischief, drop the bombshell.
“That’s great. Today, Priest Nicolo will be joining us. I expect a good presentation.”
The small room in the church is immediately filled with the deacons’ cries and shouts of frustration.
