Helping with Adventurer Party Management - Chapter 337
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
“There’s no way those three can take on the request alone. They’ll definitely die,” Sarah answers Kenji’s question.
Those three are fundamentally lacking as adventurers.
They can’t read, and they’re unfamiliar with the customs of adventurers, so they can’t take proper requests. Even if they manage to complete an improper request, the only future they have is being cheated out of the payment or having it outright denied.
“Then, maybe it would be better to throw them into some party and have them get trained.”
Everyone has a rookie period.
Energetic parties tend to pick out promising individuals from such rookies and form a loose partnership, like a second-string team in their own group.
This might involve sharing information or passing on used equipment.
They take care of the rookies, and then, when their own party faces a shortage or takes on a big request, they can call on them. The rookies can benefit by learning from the veterans’ methods and skills up close.
“But you know, those kids, they’re real country bumpkins…”
Naturally, if a party is going to offer a position, it’s going to be to someone capable. They won’t offer to someone who’s a burden.
The dilemma is that when they truly need support, they won’t be able to get it.
The adventurer world is harsh, but that’s just how it is.
“If they were split up into different parties, maybe one of them would get accepted.”
If there’s one burden, a party might be willing to take them on, even if they can’t care for all three.
Fortunately, Kenji has worked with many adventurer parties, so he could probably manage with three or so.
“But, you know, I think they should stay in the same party.”
An adventurer party is a group where you entrust your life.
That bond is built over time, through battles and requests.
“Because, when it really gets dangerous, they’ll get abandoned, right? Alone, they might not survive, but if they’re together, maybe they’ll make it…”
If there’s a bond within the party, the rookie is always on the outside of it.
If you had to weigh the life of a party member against the life of a rookie, it’s natural to choose the former.
That’s why you can only form a party with people you can trust.
“Then, they’ve got to be at least somewhat useful if I’m going to introduce them.”
Kenji’s point is valid—there’s no party that would take along three useless people. Even if, as baggage carriers, they only cost a minimum amount.
Sara’s stomach suddenly growled. “Well, I guess we should have something to eat.”
“Yeah, it’ll be more wheat porridge. No meat, though.”
“I don’t mind it. When it’s warm, it’s not bad. If you take care to remove the husks and sort it properly, the smell isn’t a problem.”
Hearing Kenji’s response, Sara felt like a little bird fluttered in her head.
“Hey, then why don’t you train them in cooking and take them along that way?” Kenji suggested
