- Chapter 335 - I Know it's Annoying, But it's Annoying
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list.
In the meantime, I will be uploading the latest advance chapters to my Ko-fi account for my supporters. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
“That’s impossible. You’ll get yourselves killed.”
The most important quality an adventurer needs is not skill with a sword or the ability to count money.
It’s survival, or so Sara believes.
That’s why she thinks adventurers working in the wild should value knowledge about which plants are edible in the current season, where to find water sources, and where to seek shelter from the rain, like small huts or caves. She believes that hunting rabbits or birds for dinner is just as important as taking down monsters with arrows.
Kenji understood that, but the other members didn’t. And that’s why she left the party.
But these three boys had problems even before that.
First, they didn’t understand their own abilities.
Because of that, they couldn’t gauge the strength of others.
Not knowing their own strength, they made reckless remarks.
They took on tasks that were beyond their ability.
They were the type of adventurers who would die young.
“Impossible…?”
“That’s right. You’ll get surrounded by goblins and killed. You’ve never even killed a goblin, have you?” Sara could tell just by looking at them.
“…No, but we’ve chased off goblins that came to the village,” one of them stammered. “Ah, we have.”
Sara figured as much.
Chasing off goblins that come to attack the village and entering a goblin’s lair to kill them are fundamentally different tasks. The terrain is different. The number of enemies is different. The fighting spirit is different.
“Listen…” Sara started to tell them they should quit being adventurers but stopped.
If there were another path for them, they wouldn’t be adventurers to begin with. If they had farmland and property in a rural village, they’d want to live there.
These boys, despite their appearance, were desperately trying to carve out their own future.
For now, she could at least go along with their wish to shop and help them buy the necessary supplies for goblin hunting on a budget. That would be enough to fulfill the favor to Kimberly who had introduced them.
Still, even if she helped them, there was a high probability these boys would “retire” from being adventurers.
“What should I do…?” Sara, arms crossed, started to worry as the three boys watched her anxiously.
◇ ◇ ◇ ◇ ◇
Realizing she wasn’t particularly intelligent and lacked formal education, Sara decided to consult with someone more knowledgeable.
She had told the boys to come back at the same time tomorrow.
To kill time while waiting, the person she consulted with was, of course, Kenji.
Sara didn’t know what kind of education he had, but Kenji knew many things that Sara didn’t.
The former party members sometimes found it creepy, but Sara thought that knowing things was a good thing.
“So, what do you think I should do?” After explaining the situation, Sara asked Kenji.
Kenji sipped his tea and immediately replied, “Well, there are a few possible answers to that.”
Really, what’s going on in his head?
If I opened his head, I’d probably find a little bird flying out.
“So, what do you think you should do?” Kenji asked, not directly answering the question.
Lately, he often responds to questions with more questions.
It can be frustrating sometimes, but once Sara understood that it was Kenji’s way of showing care and teaching, she didn’t get upset as much.
Still, there are times when she still feels irritated.
