Having a Baby Before Marrying a Wicked Husband - Chapter 132
Dear Readers,
Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.
Thank you for your patience and support!
The tight and inseparable hug made it difficult for Yan Cai to breathe. But Yan Cai never made a sound to startle Jiang Manyue.
He kept his eyes open, staring blankly, feeling the powerful arms tightly wrapping around him. The clear thumping of his heartbeat was audible, and the warm breath from Jiang Manyue sprayed onto the back of his neck.
It made his whole body feel feverish.
How could he sleep like this? It’s unbearable!
Yan Cai originally thought he definitely wouldn’t be able to sleep, the intense gaze behind him was too fervent to ignore.
However, he fell asleep in just a few minutes. He trusted Jiang Manyue much more than he imagined. The intense gaze didn’t bring him much worry; instead, it felt comforting.
This was something unimaginable in the past—letting someone guard his back was the most foolish thing to do.
If he had been like this back then, he wouldn’t have survived in the apocalypse.
No one is trustworthy. Be wary not only of enemies but also of one’s teammates. You never know when your teammates might suddenly turn against you and become your enemies.
There’s no such thing as trust between people. Even if they’re in the same team, staying in the same hotel lobby to sleep on the floor, everyone will still be wary of each other. Even in a crowded lobby, everyone will consciously keep their distance from each other.
If someone approaches, they will wake up from their sleep immediately.
Sleeping until unconscious like this was absolutely impossible. However, now he could sleep soundly with someone else on the same bed, without any distinction between them.
He slept soundly until dawn.
When the sky brightened, Qingke’s biological clock woke him up, at roughly the time for him to pee in the morning. Yan Cai always wanted to linger in bed a little longer, so he covered himself with the blanket, knowing that Jiang Manyue get up to help his son urinate.
Last night, even a slight whimper from the second child would prompt Jiang Manyue to get out of bed. Without a trace of guilt, Yan Cai left the responsibility of the two sons to Jiang Manyue and when Yan Cai woke up, it was already noon.
Feeling a bit groggy, he sat up, rubbing his sleepy eyes. The cheerful, sometimes light and sometimes heavy, pitter-patter of Qingke’s footsteps could be heard.
Today’s footsteps sounded a bit heavy, Yan Cai thought. Then he saw Qingke, dressed thickly like a ball, carrying a basket on his back.
Yan Cai’s forehead broke into a sweat; he felt he might guessed what was in the basket. Sure enough, Qingke pounced to the edge of the bed, flapping to climb up. Behind him, in a basket, a pair of shiny black eyes widened when meeting Yan Cai’s gaze.
Much better looking than yesterday, Yan Cai noted. The skin was a bit lighter, the eyes bigger once they opened, and even the little leaves on top of the head were unfurling.
All the sons were up, and he, as the father, was still in bed. That didn’t seem right. Yan Cai quickly got out of bed, dressing hastily, not wanting to be laughed at.
Seeing Yan Cai coming down, Qingke stopped climbing and just stared at him blankly.
As Jiang Manyue came into the room and saw him rushing, he said, “Don’t hurry, there’s no rush.”
“I’ll be a laughingstock to my sons if I don’t hurry up.” Even the youngest one is up.
“I’ve already fed them. Keke is also very good at taking care of his brother. You can sleep a bit longer if you want, but you should eat breakfast first.”
Hearing his name, Qingke proudly puffed out his little chest. It was him! He was the one taking care of his brother, and his brother didn’t even cry.
“Can I sleep a bit longer?” Yan Cai, still dressing, glanced at Jiang Manyue, wondering if he was being too indulgent today.
If it were usual, he would have been urged by Manyue to wake up early for his health. But now, not only was Jiang Manyue taking care of both sons, he even brought breakfast. Indeed, Yan Cai had just caught a whiff of the delicious smell.
Sure enough, Jiang Manyue brought breakfast over and placed it on the small table.
There are only four of them in this courtyard, with no one else around. Since Hong Yu wasn’t here, taking care of the two sons fell solely on Manyue. Even if there were breakfast stalls outside, getting breakfast would still take time.
Jiang Manyue had been a young master since childhood, hardly ever lifting a finger. Seeing him so diligent today made Yan Cai somewhat suspicious.
“Flattery will get you nowhere. Either you’re up to something fishy or you’ve done something wrong and are trying to butter me up. Come on, fess up! Confess and you’ll get leniency! Lie to me, hmm…” Yan Cai twisted the towel to wipe his face, humming twice, and looked at Jiang Manyue threateningly.
“Done something wrong? Is it not good to be a little nice to you? Besides, when have I ever been unkind to you?”
Yan Cai pondered for a moment, realizing the logic in Jiang Manyue’s words. Jiang Manyue had always been kind to him. No! He almost fell into his trap.
“You’ve always been good to me, that’s true, but I feel like you’re different today. Strange. Why do I feel like you’re trying to make it up to me? Oh, I know, you definitely did something wrong!”
Jiang Manyue remained silent, just looking at Yan Cai with a smile in his eyes, his expression gentle as if filled with warm water.
Yan Cai surrendered. He couldn’t stand that teasing look in Jiang Manyue’s eyes. It’s great to have big eyes. Yan Cai turned his head away, feeling embarrassed and flushed.
Little did he know, when he turned his head, there was a slight flicker in Jiang Manyue’s eyes, a hint of inexplicable tenderness.
Of course, when Yan Cai looked back again, everything seemed normal.
He sat down on the chair to eat breakfast, Qingke held onto his leg the plopped down heavily, pressing against Yan Cai’s leg. Yan Cai suddenly felt the weight of his son.
The floor was covered with thick blankets, and a stove burned, so even in this weather, it wasn’t cold. Qingke played with toys on Yan Cai’s feet, so Yan Cai took the baby out of the basket.
The basket was warm, filled with thick cotton newly harvested this year. Yan Cai also took advantage of his position and won a cotton planting test site for Qingqu. Qingqu happened to be very suitable for growing cotton, with the right amount of sunlight, rain, and temperature. The cotton harvesting season coincided with the dry season, and the harvest was quite good.
The baby in the basket watched Yan Cai eat for a long time, drooling all over his face. Yan Cai smiled and wiped away the drool, tapping the edge of the bowl.
“Silly little brother, why are you even greedier than your big brother?”
Qingke’s ears twitched, quickly turning his head because Father was talking about him. He heard it.
“The younger brother is a pig.” Qingke said.
Yan Cai: Always feels like there’s a bit of discord between the brothers. Is it just his imagination?
Jiang Manyue took the baby from his arms and tapped the baby’s nose gently. “Let your Father eat in peace don’t make trouble for him. Silly baby son.”
Yan Cai: Always feels like there’s a bit of discord between father and son, too. Is it just his imagination?
Jiang Manyue is being unusually strict today. Or rather, he’s being overly strict with his sons and overly indulgent with him.
Ignoring the unusual behavior today, Yan Cai looked down at the food in his bowl and still had that feeling. They were having the signature wontons from a restaurant in the south of the city for breakfast. They lived quite far from the south of the city, so did Jiang Manyue really go all the way to the south early in the morning just to buy them for him?
Although he usually spoils him, today Yan Cai has a strange feeling about it. The way he looks at him seems a bit excessive, as if there’s something he wants to say but doesn’t.
Yan Cai ate wontons with a lot of thoughts in his mind. He also devoured a large, crispy fried dough stick and some juicy xiaolongbao with thin skin and fresh meat that oozed juice with every bite.
Yan Cai wasn’t one to hold back his feelings. After bottling things up for several days and unable to bear it any longer, he decided to confront Jiang Manyue.
At this moment, they’ve already moved back to their own home. While the others in the house were quite surprised by the sudden appearance of another young master, not a single one was foolish enough to inquire about his origins.
How the eldest young master came to be, how the second young master came to be, these were all matters for the master to handle, and they shouldn’t pry. Their duty was simply to take good care of them.
Yan Cai suddenly stood up, which actually stunned everyone present. Hongyu had just made fresh meat pies, wrapped in yellowed bamboo leaves, and handed one to Qingke.
It was very hot; Qingke blew on it for a while but still didn’t dare to take a bite. The second child was gulping down milk; he had a very good appetite. In just about ten days, he had plumped up like a balloon, his face had rounded up significantly, chubby with flesh.
He was looking more and more like his brother as time went on.
“Put your son down and come with me. I have something to say,” Yan Cai said dryly.
Jiang Manyue looked at him with confusion but obediently handed the nursing second child to Zhu Hua. Zhu Hua, tall and burly, with large hands and feet, was at a loss when he lifted the soft and small young master. He didn’t know where to put his hands and feet.
Yan Cai led Jiang Manyue alone into their bedroom, closed the door, and stared at Jiang Manyue with a pair of bright eyes.
“Tell me, what’s wrong? You’ve been acting strange lately, I’m not used to it.” Yan Cai said.
Jiang Manyue hesitated, his fingers trembling slightly, his expression somewhat unnatural.
“Am I acting strange? I…”
Yan Cai took a step forward and bit Jiang Manyue’s lips, preventing him from speaking. Warm and slightly moist. He released Jiang Manyue and stared at him, but refrained from using his psychic powers to influence him. He didn’t like using such methods on his loved one.
“Don’t lie.”
Jiang Manyue’s eyes flickered. “What does Cai Cai want to ask?” Jiang Manyue asked.
“I feel like your recent attitude is as if you’ve done something wrong to me and need to make it up to me. I don’t like it. Between us, there’s no need for compensation. You’ve never owed me anything, and there’s nothing to make up for,” Yan Cai said.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“I said you didn’t owe me anything, so you’re not allowed to say sorry.”
“I… saw you.” Jiang Manyue thought it would be difficult for him to speak, but when the words came out, it wasn’t as difficult as he expected. Regarding the other Yan Cai and the events of another world, he couldn’t remember them clearly anymore.
As he spoke, Jiang Manyue felt as if he were telling a story. Even he couldn’t tell if he had really experienced it or if he had dreamt it and mistaken the dream for reality.
He simply recounted, while Yan Cai calmly listened, without interruption.
“… I couldn’t save you…”
“So you’re feeling guilty about this.” Yan Cai frowned. “The idiot son must have inherited his idiot father’s intelligence!”
Finally, Yan Cai, who had always been overshadowed in intelligence at home, had the chance to scorn someone else’s intelligence.
“Whether it’s true or not, you’ve never wronged me. You’re good, and if that’s true, then you’ve already given me what I want most—bringing me to your side. It’s good that I could meet you. I’ll leave the title of ‘child’s idiot father’ to you.”
It feels so good to despise someone’s intelligence while saying love words. Yan Cai thought to himself that he could finally be the smart father.
“The child’s stupid father, the child’s smart father has something to tell you. Please come closer and listen,” Yan Cai beckoned with his finger, prompting Jiang Manyue to come closer.
Once Jiang Manyue was close, Yan Cai hooked his neck, his height still a bit short, so he had to tiptoe slightly. Yan Cai whispered something in Jiang Manyue’s ear, causing a faint gleam to flicker in Jiang Manyue’s eyes.
“If that’s the case, then that’s really wonderful. I hope I can meet you in every life.”
Never hesitate to give words of love to your loved one; it’s the secret to keeping love fresh.
