Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

“What’s wrong, you don’t dare? Oh right, you’re a scholar. Scholars can’t carry burdens or lift a sword. You better go home and stay there. You know, swords have no eyes—don’t throw out your life.” Liu Neng retorted.

“Thank you for your concern. But it’s okay. People like us can’t beat the really tough ones, but someone like you—barely.”

“Speaking arrogantly. Even in front of a Prince, you dare to speak nonsense, not afraid of tarnishing the prince’s dignity,” Liu Neng said, unable to argue with him, so he brought up Yan Cai’s name, implying that if Jiang Manyue lost, it would damage the prince’s reputation.

Yan Cai nodded, then turned to Jiang Manyue and said, “He’s right, Manyue, hurry up. It’s almost breakfast time, the sooner you finish, the sooner we can eat.”

Alright! If you don’t want to give face, he would like to see what this guy is capable of. Liu Neng watched from the sidelines.

Jiang Manyue circled around the stage, and the man on the stage couldn’t help but ask, “What are you looking for?”

“Stairs,” Jiang Manyue answered calmly, not feeling ashamed at all. But when others heard his answer, they all looked at each other. Even the stage needs stairs for him to climb up; was this guy joking?

Liu Neng let out a sneer, feeling like his intelligence had been seriously insulted. Who was this guy trying to fool?

The challenger’s face froze for a moment before he pointed behind him. “The stairs are over there.”

Jiang Manyue calmly climbed up the stairs, and gradually, the murmurs in the crowd died down. Jiang Manyue’s calmness infected everyone. He had an aura about him that made people look at him twice.

“Come on,” he said, “please instruct me.”

The man in front of him was someone he recognized, named Zhang Shitou, originally a farmer who came here only because of military service. Zhang Shitou was hardworking, strong, and straightforward, a loyal and honest man. Jiang Manyue had even given him some pointers before. Because he hadn’t formally learned martial arts, Zhang Shitou’s basic skills were not solid. Relying solely on brute force, he effortlessly wielded a heavy iron hammer weighing dozens of pounds and achieved considerable military merit.

Later, when his military service was over, he went home to farm.

Zhang Shitou agreed with a nod and rubbed his fists. “Then I won’t hold back!”

Men always liked to test their strength with each other.

Yan Cai watched from the sidelines, feeling satisfied as he looked at Jiang Manyue’s confident demeanor. He had little interest in such scenes anymore.

Fighting against those who don’t possess extraordinary abilities seems unfair, and besides, he hasn’t learned any martial arts, so he can’t perform those smooth and graceful moves like flowing clouds and flowing water.

Jiang Manyue’s posture in the match on the stage was very pleasing to the eye, combining strength with elegance. Like clouds emerging from the peaks, like a carp leaping over the Dragon’s Gate.

The wind stirred around his feet, his strength as solid as a pine tree hanging upside down from a cliff. His figure was ethereal, as if a silver dragon passing through the mist.

As for Zhang Shitou, just like his name suggests, he’s like a piece of hard stone, perhaps even granite. Whether in terms of physique or strength, he’s a heavyweight. However, it’s the tender shoots that break small stones, and it’s the twisted roots of old pines that break rocks.

Originally, they were still thinking that the scholar challenging Zhang Shitou was a bit foolish, and the crowd was also stunned.

In terms of strength, nobody in their army can match Zhang Shitou. He can effortlessly lift several hundred pounds of grindstone. In terms of physique, Zhang Shitou appears to be twice as sturdy as this scholar.

The people in their camp admired Zhang Shitou’s strength and bravery, thinking he was invincible. Who would have thought he would lose to such a weak-looking scholar.

Compared to the rough and tough men in the military, Jiang Manyue was as fair as the moon in the sky, completely out of place among them. Such a person won?

Is there still justice in this world?

When Zhang Shitou admitted defeat with clasped fists, the field fell silent. How could this be? Questions filled everyone’s minds, until someone finally spoke up.

“His moves were so beautiful.”

“Tsk, what’s the use of beauty?”

“But the beauty still won…”

“Okay, I’m convinced.” The man silently closed his mouth, unable to speak. He stayed silent and continued to be amazed.

In the military, strength speaks for itself. Seeing that Jiang Manyue was not just all talk and actually possessed remarkable skills, people’s impressions of him improved significantly. He could fight! He was formidable!

And some bolder individuals, seeing that even Zhang Shitou had lost, began to clamor.

“Come down quickly, Shitou, you’re useless now, hahaha! Why are you so weak? You’ve grown tall for nothing! Come down and let me, your brother, compete with this guy!”

Zhang Shitou gestured toward the person and mocked, “Laugh all you want! Come on, you’ll lose too!”

No one was angry; they were all brothers who ate from the same pot, accustomed to such jokes. However, Liu Neng’s face turned very ugly.

Yan Cai glanced at Liu Neng a few times and stifled a laugh: “How’s that? Not bad, huh?”

Liu Neng replied stiffly, “Whatever the prince says is true. I have no objections.”

Haha, he has no objections? With his face turning green, red, white, and purple, he could start his own dyeing workshop. Liu Neng acts as if Yan Cai’s forcing Liu Neng to agree.

Yan Cai didn’t expose him, continuing to watch the match on the stage with enthusiasm.

This competition looks very exciting. It’s no wonder why people have enjoyed watching boxing matches and duels from ancient times to the present.

It made his hands itchy, he also wanted to go up and have a fight with someone. However, Yan Cai ultimately held back. He was afraid of using too much force and injuring someone.

What’s more, he still had to play the role of a noble and delicate prince who had been pampered since childhood. He didn’t want to upset these people. However, it was really tempting.

However, Jiang Manyue, as tough as iron, felt a bit exhausted after consecutive matches with over a dozen people. A prolonged series of fights had caused sweat to bead on his forehead.

Yan Cai felt a bit sorry for him. It was early in the morning, and he hadn’t even had breakfast yet. He had been fighting here for over an hour on an empty stomach.

Yan Cai immediately called for a halt, but for some reason, one of the people who went up this time clearly heard his voice calling for a halt but didn’t stop, and his moves were so vicious that he seemed to really want to kill someone.

The sweat on Jiang Manyue’s forehead was not fake. Initially, those people were only sparring for the sake of testing martial arts skills, stopping when they reached a certain point, but now this person seems intent on targeting his vital points with every move.

Having been worn down by so many people for most of the day, Jiang Manyue was inevitably a bit weakened. Fortunately, Yan Cai finally saw that something was wrong. He suddenly snatched a whip from the hand of a soldier who was still enjoying the spectacle on the sidelines and hadn’t noticed anything amiss.

With a flick of the whip, he wrapped it around the man’s waist. The soldier’s whip was of poor quality and broke instantly, but Jiang Manyue seized the opportunity and subdued the attacker, pressing him to the ground with one foot, rendering him unable to utter a word.

The soldiers throughout the field were still cheering, oblivious to anything amiss.

“Wow! Amazing!”

Of course, there were also some who were shocked by Yan Cai’s whip, but in the end, they convinced themselves—apparently, the most formidable lords and young masters were all experts at using whips to lash people.

The prince must have whipped others like this before.

Not wanting to cause panic in the military camp, Jiang Manyue and Yan Cai exchanged a glance, understanding each other’s thoughts. Without a word, they both silently agreed to handle the matter privately and discuss it later.

“Alright! Everyone, it’s time for lunch!” Chen Nan shouted as he stepped forward. “The prince has brought food! This time we can eat our fill! Everyone, eat to your heart’s content!”

This announcement lifted everyone’s spirits, and they paid no attention to the soldier on stage, cheering enthusiastically.

“Long live the prince! Long live the prince!”

Liu Neng was extremely resentful. These people had never cheered for him like this before!
