Qin Siyang left the alley and turned toward the school.
He could have given the child better food. However, only cafeteria meals had a strong enough smell to mask his scent, ensuring that no one could track it back to him.

An hour later, officers started arriving at the police station one after another. Roylena was among them.
“Roylena, morning!”

Roylena greeted her colleagues warmly.
“Roylena, it looks like there’s a letter for you here.”
The mailroom staff frowned as they carefully examined the handwriting on the envelope, not entirely certain.
“It might not be yours, but I think these characters… should mean ‘For Roylena.’ What do you think?”
Roylena took the envelope and looked at the twisted handwriting, feeling a bit puzzled.
“When did it arrive?”
“Not sure. Maybe last night, maybe this morning. I just found it when I was sorting the mailbox. Could be some kid playing a prank.”
“The envelope isn’t even sealed. I’ll open it and take a look. If it’s not for me, I’ll leave it here for someone to claim.”
“Mm, I think that’s a good idea, Roylena.”
Roylena smiled, opened the envelope, and glanced inside. Her smile instantly froze.
