GL My Goddess Best Friend’s Seduction (H) - Chapter 8
Here’s how it happened. Because of the students’ vacation schedules, I have Sundays and Mondays off.
Saturdays are peak days at the tutoring center. I usually teach from 9:00 AM to 8:45 PM. So it made sense that Qi Zhengyu would pick Saturday to meet someone else.
I usually met Qi Zhengyu on Sundays, our shared day off. Sometimes we’d see each other on Tuesday or Thursday evenings, but that was rare.
Friday nights were off-limits since I had a long workday the next day.
Overall, I didn’t see Qi Zhengyu that often.
At 3:45 PM on Saturday, I was about to start my third class. The student was Lin Yuqi, the girl who competed in the chemistry contest last time.
Her class was two periods back-to-back. Afterward, we chatted for a bit.
“How did the chemistry contest go?” I asked, remembering she’d participated.
“Teacher Xiaoyu, I sent you a WeChat about it,” Lin Yuqi said, her delicate face showing a hurt expression. She bit her lower lip, staring at me like I was a cheating husband.
Yes, she was staring at me.
“The first thing I did after the test was tell you!”
“Oh, really? Let me check,” I said, pulling out my phone and scrolling through our chat. Sure enough, she’d messaged me that afternoon: [Teacher Xiaoyu, I did pretty well!]
I hadn’t replied. That day, I was busy with Jiang Yiyi’s wedding.
I probably glanced at the message and forgot to respond.
“Oh, Yuqi, I’m sorry. I was really busy and didn’t reply. But I swear I responded in my head,” I said quickly. Teenagers are sensitive, and I had to handle her feelings carefully.
I’ve had students switch teachers before because they thought the teacher spoke too slowly or wasn’t good-looking enough. Those reasons are better than doubting professional skills but still make you want to scream.
Once, a student switched away from me because “the teacher seems to think I’m not smart.” Me? What? Seems? Total confusion.
“I’m sure you did great,” I added. With Lin Yuqi, I wasn’t worried about her switching teachers. She’s a sweet girl who deserves this gardener’s care.
Lin Yuqi stopped biting her lip, but her pitiful expression stayed. “Teacher Xiaoyu, you don’t care enough about me.”
“Oh, come on, how could that be? I adore Yuqi,” I said, trying to cheer her up. If she stayed in this mood, her performance in class might suffer.
“Then, Teacher, if I win first place at nationals, can you grant me one request?” she asked, her face cautious but hopeful.
“Of course, absolutely,” I said, unable to resist patting her head, even though she’s taller than me. “But nothing illegal like arson or crime, okay?”
“No way, I’d never do that,” Lin Yuqi said, waving her hand. “As compensation for not replying to my WeChat, can you treat me to dinner tonight?”
I agreed instantly. Dinner was no big deal.
I’ve eaten with lots of students. Dinner takes about an hour. We usually order takeout, but there’s a mall 100 meters away, so we often eat at the basement food court.
That night, I took her to a Hong Kong-style diner. I ordered her a mini turtle-shaped pineapple bun, shrimp rice rolls, chicken feet, French toast, iced lemon tea, and Ovaltine.
After eating, we both waddled back to the tutoring center, feeling completely stuffed.
I only had two classes that evening, so I was ready to leave before 8:00 PM.
While waiting for the elevator, I got a WeChat from Si Jingnian.
Si Jingnian: Got it.
Si Jingnian: Qi Zhengyu and that girl from last time are eating at Wells Restaurant.
Si Jingnian: [Pictures] x12
Ha, Wells Restaurant, the place where he confessed to me.
My heart skipped a beat when I saw her message. I took a deep breath and opened the pictures.
The photos weren’t very clear, but clear enough to recognize the guy.
It was Qi Zhengyu.
The girl in the photos wasn’t distinct, but she looked like an internet celebrity type. Pretty, with pale skin, big eyes, a sharp face, and long legs.
The 12 pictures showed Qi Zhengyu opening the car door for her like a gentleman, holding her hand into the restaurant, whispering closely at the table, wiping his mouth with a napkin, kissing her by the restaurant’s sink, and then kissing as they squeezed into a bathroom stall.
Si Jingnian: Brace yourself before listening.
She sent an 8-minute audio clip next. I could guess what it was.
My heart sank slowly. I couldn’t quite explain how I felt.
Logically, I knew he was cheating and sleeping with someone else. But I wasn’t ready to face such raw evidence.
I skipped the elevator and ran to a bathroom stall. I wiped the toilet seat, sat down, plugged in my earphones, and took a deep breath.
My hands trembled slightly as I played the audio. My ears filled with their muffled, rapid breathing, sucking sounds, and the noises of s*x.
I listened for a few seconds and stopped it.
Thinking that the moaning man in the audio was once so close to me, someone I had planned to marry, made my head feel like it was exploding. I felt sick, like I wanted to vomit, but nothing came up. I just dry-heaved over the toilet.
I was disgusted by his actions and ashamed of myself for settling, thinking I could live with someone like him.
It was just avoidance.
I leaned against the bathroom wall to calm down, then played the audio again to check for anything that could confirm Qi Zhengyu’s identity.
Sure enough, after some panting, a flirty, coy girl’s voice said, “Zhengyu, is it better with me or your fiancée?”
The man’s voice, panting like an overworked donkey, replied, “You, you, you, of course it’s you. She can’t compare to you.”
“Really? I’m happy with that answer,” the girl giggled. “Let me make it even better for you.”
His panting turned into, “Damn, you’re gonna break me.”
“Oh, that’s good. Then you can’t go back to your fiancée,” she said.
The rest was more of the same, with them talking about how good it felt, how big he was, and calling him daddy. Sometimes the girl asked things like, “Is she tighter, or am I?”
My heart felt dead. This was probably the most disgusting thing in the world. I’d probably be a fortress of steel from now on.
I stopped the audio, uploaded the pictures and clip to the cloud, and replied to Si Jingnian.
Peaceful New Year: I listened to it.
Si Jingnian replied instantly.
Si Jingnian: Are you okay?
Peaceful New Year: I’m fine. Finally got the evidence. Smile. But these are secretly taken photos and recordings. I want to confront him face-to-face.
Si Jingnian: I’ll check on things.
Si Jingnian: Come downstairs. I’m at your company.
I went downstairs, thinking I looked normal.
But when I saw Si Jingnian standing by her car from a distance, I knew all my tough, cold act was just a facade.
My limbs felt ice-cold, like I’d fallen into a freezer. My eyes couldn’t hold back the tears, and they streamed down.
Si Jingnian strode over and hugged me tightly.
Feeling her arms around me, her body’s warmth, I hugged her back hard, my arms tight around her waist. My cheek pressed into her shoulder, her clothes soaking up my tears.
“I didn’t want to cry,” I said, clinging to her not-so-broad shoulder, my voice breaking. “I’m crying because, because…”
“Because the wind’s too strong,” she cut in, her voice cool like jade but warm, like the only anchor for my little boat in a stormy sea.
She gently stroked my hair. Her hands were like a sedative, and my sobs slowly stopped.
Embarrassingly, when I lifted my head from her shoulder, a long string of snot stretched out.
I frantically dug for tissues in my bag to wipe her shoulder. She pulled out a tissue, placed it over my nose, and signaled with her eyes for me to blow. I did.
I was mortified. First, for getting snot all over her shoulder, which was gross. Second, for her wiping my nose like I was a kid.
I followed her to her car, promising to wash her clothes.
She said it was fine, then grabbed a scarlet red bag from the trunk and stuffed the dirty coat into a paper bag.
She said the private investigator was still tailing them and that the two had left for a hotel. We could get ready to go.
I said “hm” coldly, opened the car’s light and mirror, and pulled out my makeup bag.
I wiped off my light makeup, sharpened my brows, extended and thickened my eyeliner at the corners, and blended dark eyeshadow for emphasis. I applied heavy contour and highlighter to transform my soft, doll-like face, and finished with bold, powerful red lipstick.
I pressed my red lips together, staring at a completely transformed version of myself in the mirror. I flashed a sinister grin, like a wicked witch rising from the abyss, chilling to behold.
Too scary to meet her eyes.
I turned to Si Jingnian with a slyly raised brow to show off my makeup. She looked at me with eyes full of pity.
We set off, ready to battle and tear the jerk apart.
