In the following days, we tried snorkeling, skydiving, river drifting, and the rainforest swing.

Once we got into the sea for snorkeling, the scenery was absolutely stunning. It was an entirely new world I had never experienced before. Clusters of soft coral in vivid colors spread across the seafloor, alongside bizarre underwater plants, schools of brightly colored fish, and spotted groupers with white bodies and black dots.

It was eye-opening, like stepping into a whole new universe.

However, on the boat ride to the snorkeling spot, two girls and one guy experienced severe seasickness. The chubby guy, in particular, threw up into the ocean. One of the crew members jokingly said that sea level had risen because of it.

Everyone burst into laughter, except the man, who slumped weakly against the mast, clearly miserable.

The highlight of our Australia trip was probably the skydiving. Jumping from over 10,000 meters was exhilarating. I was strapped to the instructor, which made the experience feel relatively safe. However, the real surprise came afterward. The videos and snapshots taken during the jump were absolutely dreadful. My big face filled the frame, and the wind had distorted my features, especially my mouth, in the most unflattering ways.

Si Jingnian’s photos and videos turned out much better. Her expression stayed calm the entire time. Her features were slightly wind-blown too, but she looked far better than I did. I picked a few of her less flattering photos to keep on my phone, secretly delighted that I finally had embarrassing photos of her. After doing that, I sternly warned her not to save my ugly pictures. No saving, absolutely not.

Si Jingnian agreed and even had to swear that she wouldn’t keep them.

I didn’t delete my own skydiving photos or videos. Instead, I saved them in my cloud drive.

After the trip ended, we reluctantly left Australia and returned to our regular work routines. I continued the training program for my new position as a corporate trainer.

In early November, I got promoted ahead of schedule. I was overjoyed. All the hard work had paid off. That evening, I went home to brag to Si Jingnian.

I hadn’t told her in advance because I wanted it to be a surprise.

That night, I had two classes to teach, so I didn’t cook. When I got home, Si Jingnian was in her room, still working at her computer.

I walked in as quietly as possible, trying not to make a sound. As I expected, she didn’t notice me while she was focused on work.

I crept behind her and stood silently, mesmerized by the sight of her working. She looked so focused and serious. It was incredibly attractive. And she was so good-looking on top of that…

I stared at her back, completely dazed. I watched so long that she ended up noticing me first. She was a little surprised at first, but that quickly faded and was replaced by a warm, gentle expression.

She took off her glasses and placed them on the desk. Then she stretched lazily and embraced me.

Everything happened as naturally as breathing.

I instinctively pressed closer to her, breathing in her familiar scent. My hands circled her slender waist and slid down to her hips. My heart was pounding as I grinned and told her, “I got the promotion! And way ahead of schedule too!”

“Aren’t I amazing?” I asked, fishing for praise.

“You’re amazing,” she said with sincerity. There was no hint of indifference in her voice, only genuine approval. Her words were so comforting. She didn’t let go of me. Instead, she guided me over to her large bed. I followed her without resistance.

“Who’s amazing?” I shifted my position, kneeling on the bed with my arms wrapped around her neck. I looked her straight in the eyes. Her previously tired face was now lit with energy.

“My Xiaoyu is amazing.” Her eyes shone like a moonlit ocean, dreamy and alluring. The light in them drew me into a mysterious vortex, slowly pulling me in, making it impossible to escape.

I felt dizzy, enchanted.

“So, where’s my reward?” I grinned and asked playfully, letting my gaze drift below her collarbone to the area between her ribs.

“What kind of reward do you want?” Si Jingnian smiled, clearly picking up on my intentions. She suddenly moved closer, reducing the distance between us to almost nothing. Her breath brushed past my ear as she whispered in a husky voice, “Hmm? Xiaoyu, baby?”

The warm air sent a tingling sensation straight to my brain and all the way down through my chest, belly, and somewhere even lower. My body reacted instantly. Goosebumps rose all over my skin.

My rational mind went on vacation for a good while…

By the time I regained clarity, I realized I was completely naked, just like when I showered. Meanwhile, Si Jingnian still looked immaculate. Her clothes and hair were perfectly in place.

Wait a second. This was not how things were supposed to go. Wasn’t I the one getting the reward?

I shoved Si Jingnian, who was still clinging to me, and wrapped myself in the blanket, arms crossed over my chest. She looked a little reluctant, her eyes still filled with burning intensity and unrelieved desire.

I swallowed hard and turned my gaze away. Clearing my throat, I asked, “Weren’t you supposed to reward me? How did this turn into me rewarding you?”

“Are you sure this is you giving me a reward?” Si Jingnian raised an eyebrow and held out her slender right hand, placing it very close to my face.

My cheeks turned scarlet.

She leaned in again. That beautiful hand stayed right in front of me. I wanted to close my eyes, but I didn’t.

“So, who’s the one receiving a reward, hmm?” Her voice ended on a teasing, seductive note. I shook my head to keep my wits about me. I could not let this enchantress fool me again.

“This is not the reward I asked for!”

“Then what kind of reward do you want, hmm?” Si Jingnian kept closing in until her nose touched mine.

That was when my breathing fell apart.

Her tongue glided across the tip of my nose. I couldn’t help but shrink toward the center of the bed.

But I wasn’t giving up. Not on my reward. I gathered my courage. “This time, I want to be on top.”

“Okay,” she said. Her lips, the ones I had dreamed about, finally covered mine. I let out a satisfied sigh.

Thinking that I would finally get to take the lead, I started scheming in my head. I was going to show Si Jingnian my power, my talent, my well-researched techniques.

An hour later, the me who was supposed to be on top had a completely blank mind. I was clutching the bedsheet in my hand, emotionally devastated.

I made whimpering noises, pretending to cry. Si Jingnian was gently rubbing my sore waist. My fake sobs actually got her attention. She kissed me softly and asked what was wrong.

“You liar! You promised I’d be on top!”

“How did I lie? Weren’t you on top?”

I thought back to what just happened and suddenly couldn’t argue. What the heck. This was definitely not what I had envisioned!

I pouted and ignored her.

Si Jingnian sighed and lay down beside me, trying to comfort me. “How about we go again? This time, I swear you’ll be on top.”

When I saw her lying down voluntarily and heard her promise, my ears perked up and my heart pounded with excitement. Forget about my aching waist. I immediately pounced.

But fate was cruel. My excitement made me strain my back.

Tears welled up in my eyes. Si Jingnian, that horrible woman, actually said this wasn’t her fault. She said it was the heavens rejecting my indecent intentions.

She was insane. I refused to believe it!

I would just try again next time!
